  1. The one on the Strip at UT is not posted in any way. I walked by with this thread in mind today. Matter of fact, was gonna take some wings home, but didn't, as total incompetence and rudeness reigned behind the register. So I left wingless, and wrote BWW when I got home. - OS
  2. Amazon is 227 with free shipping. Amazon.com: Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter: Sports & Outdoors: Reviews, Prices & more - OS
  3. Couple boxes of extra ammo. That's it. I don't have anything cheap enough to risk getting stolen, even my $200 HP carbine would hurt, 'cause can't just trot down to a local gunstore and replace it. If society starts looking more unstable, I might revise my tactics. - OS
  4. My guess is that our own military screwed up big time, and just scrambling around to find best way to CYA. - OS
  5. Missile Shot Off Los Angeles Still a Mystery for Pentagon Officials - FoxNews.com
  6. NORAD (or somebody) just released very mysterious press release to Fox, et al I guess. How it's not a threat, etc, but still not saying what/who/where it actually was. - OS
  7. Don't shtup around with mouse caliber -- get a Kahr PM9. - OS
  8. As long as you realize that everyone else will be, also. In normal society, you can't snuff a thief unless he's in your home. In a prolonged SHTF situation, that little detail of societal law disappears. After just a short period of lawlessness, most folks who still have assets worth protecting, WILL protect them, and one's odds of surviving as a independent thief or raider will go steadily downhill. - OS
  9. The clips can be used for shirt tail out or for tucking, depending on whether you keep them in the slots or move outside them. By "leather straps" I guess you mean leather belt loops, which can be used to carry either way also. However, they are a $25.00 additional option; I didn't like them, as the vertical extra leather "riser" that makes them compatible with his design I found to be too bulky. YMMV, I guess. - OS
  10. I think the police tow their firearms there these days. - OS
  11. Been waiting for that to roll around on cable... - OS
  12. Yeah, that's the one. It's on Encore right this sec, matter of fact. - OS
  13. Agreed. That's why you'd best be very careful about who you steal from. Your odds are much worse in SHTF. - OS
  14. Seen Quarantine from '08? With Jennifer Carpenter, the gal who plays Dexter's sister? Pretty chillingly claustrophobic flick, the handheld "live" video perspective very effective. - OS
  15. How can you POSSIBLY argue that? Especially as a lawyer? The statue is quite clear than it does. what in: "The person's conduct was relative to dealing with the weapon solely as a curio, ornament or keepsake" is unclear that it is not applicable to a switchblade? Or knuckles? Or hoax device? Or "Any other implement for infliction of serious bodily injury or death that has no common lawful purpose." ? "Curio, ornament, or keepsake" applies to all 8 of the prohibited weapons classes. Classes 1-5 have an additional "non-functioning" requirement, 6-8 (which includes switchblades) do not. So what do you claim the phrase DOES apply to, then? Nothing? Just some words tossed in at random? - OS
  16. Maybe, maybe not. I'm certainly not arguing that it's a good idea to have a drink or two and carry, only that it's not illegal per se, and the outcome of self-defense use of your gun might or might not be changed by your having alcohol in your system, or even being "legally drunk". It's certainly not a sure deal that "your butt is grass" by any means. - OS
  17. That's what I postulated, with "otherwise justified shooting". Surely that is like to happen if you did the same sober? - OS
  18. Who says Wiki is a poor source of information? !! - OS
  19. Sure, no copyright on it One more: Two nuns driving in SouthWest, run out of gas, walk back to old funky gas station in middle of nowhere. Guy has gas, but no can to put it in. The nuns rummage around, find an old bedpan in garbage heap that is still intact, get about half a gallon in it, carefully walk back to car. Just as they are pouring it into tank, couple traveling priests happen to come by; as they pull over to see if can help, they see the nun pouring from the bedpan. One says to the other, "Now father, THAT'S faith!" - OS
  20. You aren't in the old fart club yet - not even in the lobby, pilgrim. With many many signs pointing toward a US and/or world meltdown scenario, the interest in zombies keeps increasing. Why? Because we know that in SHTF and especially EOTWAWKI situations, there will be zombies. Always. - OS
  21. Marlin Manufacture Dates still work? Hmm..maybe it doesn't. The gurus on Marlinowners.com can always seem to tell you, if no joy here. - OS
  22. I remember well my buddy DT telling that joke in high school. He was the only one of his peer group who had memorized it, so it was one of "his" jokes. - OS ps: my fav priest joke: Young golf nut priest had to do the early mass, one morning just wanted to golf more than do the mass, goes to head priest and begs off, claiming to be sick. Slips off to golf course 75 miles away, where he's pretty sure nobody in the diocese would be, plays by himself, and has the absolute best round of his life, 5 birdies, two eagles, and a hole in one. Looking down from on high, St. Peter looks at The Lord and says, "why are you letting him have the greatest game of his life, when he lied about being sick and dishonored you by ducking out of mass?" God just chuckles and says, "So who can he tell?" - OS
  23. oops, wrong thread
  24. Good points. I guess I wasn't thinking clearly. - OS
  25. Nah, they're Protestant Christians, eh? Acts don't matter, only John 3:16. - OS
