  1. quick thoughts: 1. Pretty unlikely you'd ever be charged with unlawful weapon possession (club) just walking around anywhere with it. 2. If you ever had to beat someone with it, maybe it would come into play as to whether you had legitimate medical need for the cane or not, who knows. (Unlike a firearm, you aren't necessary exempt from the various weapons laws if used in justifiable self defense. I'd say this is a minor consideration, though.) 3. Could carry past most every posted place in the state, could even get in Knoxville City/County building with it, I guess! Could also likely fly with it. 4. Don't use a sword cane. 5. Avoid skull or other nasty looking cane grips. - OS
  2. At the risk of going totally OT, you have power of arrest, or just under same guise as any citizen, whatever that is exactly? - OS
  3. Show seems to get poor reviews every time it's been mentioned here, but this sounds like a new low. - OS
  4. That was mainly my point, not so much that the gun carrier was "right". Assuming we accept all the parts of the saga, had the guard not been such a douche, the gun carrier would not have had to go through all that crap. - OS
  5. All well and good, but the property owner nor his hired minions have no right to commit illegal acts. Admittedly, I can't see one in Lenny's post, but the Knoxville Expo guards certainly have. But the unnecessarily heavy handed and duplicitous nature of the two guards is similar enough. BTW, if that really was Kwik, this seems to be a newly and totally fabricated tale, have never seen him mention it anywhere else. - OS
  6. Maybe, but methinks RevScottie had a decent point, too. - OS
  7. In original packaging on shelf or if naked, carefully thrown in a drawer. - OS
  8. Don't know where you could find 6 of any vintage that would be unreliable, you must have some kind of luck. Or maybe just non factory mags, THE major cause of feeding probs. Older ones certainly are far from tack drivers, but being minute of torso and always feeding anything and always going boom, even when filthy, is Mini14/30 main selling card, otherwise there wouldn't be a bazillion of them out there. - OS
  9. Federal pocket change, really, < 1.5 billion/yr -- but every little bit helps. - OS
  10. Oh horse pucky. He may have said it, but it's still horse pucky. Mini 14 will do all 1500 rounds without any cleaning. With lacquer coated steel ammo. Unlike half or more of the ARs out there. Yeah, "not to mention" is the best advice, at least for the present generation models. There is no more of a shift than with most ARs. - OS
  11. Guns in Mexican Violence Traced to Texas - Fox News Latino - OS
  12. Oh, my condolences.... Had a orange tabby like that too, shorter haired, ours lived almost 21 years, though, and my ex still had to put him down a few years back. At least you had the good years with him ... time to fill the void pretty soon. - OS
  13. Oh Shoot

    XDm Compact

XD9SC with 13+1 weighs exactly two pounds. The m is longer and taller, so ... - OS
  14. Generally, they'll come apart automatically after a couple hundred rounds. Not really, here's a YouTube: - OS
  15. So, would the PF-9 be a good choice for an afternoon at the range? - OS
  16. Ah, something worthwhile out of the thread! - OS
  17. No. I meant all the Costcos are, apparently thanks to Kwik. - OS
  18. If you have family and eat much meat, you might recoup that fee in just one trip. The only time I've been able to compare both was when I used to go to Norfolk every month or so for a number of years; my friend there belonged to both. I couldn't see all that much diff between the two price-wise, and neither could she -- just differed in inventory, but of course that is a hugely moving target. That said, I wish we had one here too -- but we couldn't legally carry there. - OS
  19. Just buying regular food for only moi, I save the $35 in two months or less. - OS
  20. That was about the last major forum outlet he had left ... I actually miss the entertainment value now, since the TN part of that site is generally pretty dormant. - OS
  21. Original post was 21 months ago, back when ammo panic was on. - OS
  22. Bzzzzttt. You have found one of the perpetual eddies of internet legend bullcrap; or rather, it found you. 1. Lee Marvin was never at Iwo Jima and never said this on Carson. 2. Bob Keeshan never served overseas anywhere 3. Fred Rogers was never in any branch of the service. 'Bout only truth in whole thing is that Marvin was indeed a Marine and shot in the ass (on Saipan), but only got Purple Heart, and he is indeed buried in Arlington. - OS
  23. Mike will have to say, of course, but I remember a little something he's said about his ordeal in the past, and pretty sure it wasn't for just carrying past a sign as we are discussing here. - OS
