  1. Usually 9-4 on Sunday. Jacobs Building, Chilhowee Park, Knoxville. (the TVA fairgrounds) Out Magnolia Ave. past Cherry Street at end of 5th Avenue, or from Rutledge Pike exit off I-40 Eastbound. Same general turf as Knoxville Zoo, which is on the edge of the property closest to the interstate. - OS

There's eventually gonna be Very Bad Things happen both here and blowups in the middle east could hasten it. Certainly, 30% unemployment and $10/gal gasoline, and America will be 'bout as scary a place to live as Mexico. Irony is that most of the jihadist fanaticism is at heart economically based -- if the average Muslim had a decent pot to piss in and a decent window to throw it out of, most of their energy would be spent otherwise. All the current blowups in Egypt, Tunisia, and Jordon are economic uprisings -- overpopulation is drawing ever increasing lines between rich and poor, and the middle classes are becoming endangered world wide. - OS

Oil, folks. America cares about Suez Canal, not any of this democracy crap. We have a long history of supporting some of the worst scum of the earth for oil and other "American interests". Hell, small example, Baby Doc is back in Haiti...almost as bloody a dictator as his daddy, and America flew his ass to France for his exile in '86. Not just flew him, but let him drive his car full of millions in loot right up into the belly of a USAF cargo plane. - OS
  6. It confuses my pursuers. You know, "them". - OS
  7. Me too. I'll recognize Jack but might not see him... John, I'll wear TGO hat, you too okay? Don't look for Donald Sutherland as Santa Claus, I've shaved. - OS
  8. That's about what I need to weight, I'm at 16. Doesn't sound bad though, eh? - OS
  9. Soon as can budget, another Mini14. The short barreled "tactical". CDNN is beau coup cheaper than anywhere else. I don't mind paying a modest premium to buy local, or at least in-state, but $150 or so is way more than "modest". - OS

  11. Thanks, Erik, I'd say that's the feller. - OS
  12. Dang, can't find with web or TGO search. Who's the shop in Alcoa or Maryville that is often touted for its very fair FFL transfer prices? Thinking about buying my first gun online and having it shipped. - OS
  13. Just learned last week that I'm no longer a Leo, but a Cancer, and now this! Thank God the USD is stable at least ... oh wait... - OS

  16. Nobody beats the Walmart Tula, if that's the type .223 you mean. When Georgia Arms comes, they have some special .223 loads like softpoints and heavier bullets that are probably in same price range as on line, maybe a little better. If you really want 5.56 as opposed to .223, I've not seen any quantity deals at the gun shows at all. - OS
  17. Forgot my old one. This is my circa 1954 Remington Model 121 Fieldmaster. Was under the tree for my 12th Christmas. Which was actually in 1960, so the gun was minimum 6 years old. Looked brand new though, had box and manual, etc. Might have been in some old stock at local hardware store or something. My young wide eyes wouldn't have cared if it looked as weathered as it does now. I actually sold this gun during a rough stretch during my 20's, but later found and bought it back in my 30's, but it had been stored badly in the meantime and the finish went south. Still shoots well, never replaced a part except a couple of screws that got lost along the way, and the rear sight ramp elevator thingie. Garufa has one that still looks brand new, but it doesn't shoot any better. - OS
  18. I would love to see that once. I'm not really a collector, per se, even though I probably have enough to be classed as one , just love the look and feel of knives. - OS

  24. Yeah, it's absurd to think that one person out of 100 could survive for even a year with what he could carry into what still passes as the TN wilderness. Maybe 4 out of a hundred that first year, counting cannibalism. One exception might be on lakes and rivers given enough fishing and trapping skills. If you look back at pre-agriculture Woodland Period in Eastern US, all the major tribal territories were based on the waterways. - OS
  25. Excellent point. - OS
