  1. Guess I didn't read it as carefully as I thought. Well, if they stick to the permit requirement, at least that seems covered. Good catch, thanks. - OS
  2. It still ain't simple enough. It would be much better without the TN HCP proviso and "handgun" should be "firearm" -- should just read "firearm carried in a condition legal under state law" or similar. That was people who want to hunt or shoot after work, whatever, could have firearm in vehicle without having an HCP. Also, for the many folks who work in TN but live in bordering states, the wording of the bill would not allow them to have the handgun in car even though they had a permit from their state that TN recognizes. - OS
  3. I B dam....thnx. - OS
  4. Hmmm. I've looked all around, where do I find that? - OS
  5. Oh Shoot

    Tipping.

I had this thread all wrong: - OS
  6. Ah, I see. Cool, that oughtta do it. - OS
  7. It's been posted here a number of times by folks who have taken it, but I don't know how often they offer it. - OS
  8. The Bradley County Sheriff has the class for residents for $5 !! - OS
  9. Well, I guess they are claiming it's a "Federal Facility" then, though it doesn't seem a perfect legal fit to me. "The term "Federal facility" means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties." There is no more detailed part of either the no carry in federal buildings law or the national park carry law. - OS
  10. You couldn't carry in any part of any National Park then. All the more reason to wonder just how the NPS is able to legally bar carry in the cave. Seems would be the same as banning carry above a certain altitude in the Smokies. - OS
  11. Good looking knife, but seems to moi that it not being full tang sort of negates one of the main advantages of a fixed blade over folder (strength)? - OS
  12. That is interesting. I wonder under just what justification the National Park Service bans carry there? Haven't been there myself, but I'm guessing that some structure is built over the cave entrance, so that they claim that the whole shebang is a "building"? They also ban carry on tour buses within the park, though: Mammoth Cave National Park - Firearms-Prohibited Areas at Mammoth Cave NP (U.S. National Park Service) - OS
  13. Oops, I admit I missed the point of your conjecture, skimmed it too fast, sorry. But the ultimate point is still: why why would the state choose to lose ANY revenue it is currently receiving? Especially since it is basically a "luxury tax" -- unlike a general sales or income tax, it isn't even on the radar for most TN residents. Neither is the dime/box ammo tax (although at least that apparently goes to a better purpose). - OS
  14. See above. Around $3Million Then again, they wouldn't have to fund/man that part of the state operation, either. - OS
  15. Pellissippi State offers three Looks like last one was in November, don't see it listed anywhere for this year yet: http://pscal.pstcc.edu/calendar/EventList.aspx?view=EventDetails&eventidn=3007&information_id=6859&type= - OS
  16. Great, thanks, didn't realize FFLs could see a running state total -- well, that qualifies as "millions" for sure. And that's only guns through FFLs. If the feds seriously try to end the "gun show loophole", which of course has no more to do with gunshows than anywhere else, I almost wonder if TN wouldn't go along with it, just to get all that extra revenue it's not seeing through private sales. - OS
  17. Does it? How many guns are sold through FFLs in TN each year? I couldn't find an estimate. - OS
  18. Yeah, laughably, my XD 5" is also designated as "Tactical" on slide. Takes a really skillful operative like me to handle that extra one inch of barrel. - OS
  19. You guys don't keep up with the zombie threads? Some year's flu shot with an accidental wild card in it will likely be how it happens. I mean like, ya know, just wow, how could y'all not know that? - OS
  20. Speaking of fail, how about those Groupon commercials? As one wag said, "Groupon seems to have achieved the unique feat of paying $3M to lose customers who previously loved them." The Tibetan Travesty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycwmYbK0gIQ&feature=player_embedded - OS
  21. Yes, right on Clinton Hwy., NW corner of Clinton Hwy and Merchant Dr. intersection. - OS
  22. Heh heh. He said Comrade. - OS
  23. 3 years 8 months! Is that the record? - OS
  24. Half or more of them are there every year. Indeed, the one on March 12 that Classickbass just asked about is at Expo. Here's 'bout as good as any site for TN gunshows schedule: Gun Show Listings ForTennesee - OS
  25. TVA land is gray. Some of their campgrounds used to be/are posted, dunno. There also seems to be a significant diff between actual TVA "reservation" land, like right at a dam, and TVA "access owned" properties, which are generally administered by TWRA folks, who don't care as long as you're carrying legally otherwise. There's a famous letter floating around somewhere from TWRA that basically says, "don't worry about public access areas where you put in boats", etc. Obviously, TVA (or TWRA) doesn't have a history of hassling folks for guns, or it would be well known. This is my gray answer for a continuing gray question, how'd I do? - OS
