Has a good looking shape toward bottom of blade to hold finger or heel of hand in both forward and reverse grips, the jimping would tend to do same, plus micarta scales offer great grip even umm....wet. - OS

HB0355 (McDonald): Parking lot bill filed 2/7/11
Oh Shoot replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Of course. Other states have done it. And as far as the Private Property Uber Alles concept, I've not read about any constitutional challenges to those changes in law, either on state or federal level. - OS -
Can relate...among other stuff, I do a couple of water exercise sessions per week, 'bout half cardio half agility/strength. Bad back, can get more bang for my buck than same stuff done on dry land. Generally me and 6-15 women, many who tend toward the plumper end of the spectrum than even moi. I've come to think of them as my Chubby Harem in The Pool of Pain. - OS

The parking lot bill is what's up for grabs. There's no "carry anywhere, no matter what, no permit needed" bill. Grab the fruit you can reach. Btw, this doesn't affect me personally, I'm retired. Though it's important to me to be able to protect myself, my main reason for wanting expansion of all gun rights is not really a personal one. - OS -

Of course, I absolutely, totally, understand that. Nonetheless, the state has granted me the privilege of carrying a loaded handgun in my car. It gave me that privilege because the state pays at least lip service to the fact that I should be able to protect myself. I can even carry the gun in my car on school grounds, including PRIVATE schools. Why should my employer be able to negate the privilege the state has granted? Not so much that I may care about having the gun in his parking lot, but he is de facto preventing me from defending myself in all the other places I must be in my car in order for my car to appear in his parking lot, whether that is gassing up, getting jacked at a stoplight, or broken down on the side of the road. Hell, I'm not trying to carry my gun into his work environs, nor drive my car into them. It's a freaking parking lot. Letter of the law, spirit of the law. Some states get it, and I guess more will over time. - OS -

Nonetheless, handicapped persons did not receive the (at least supposed) right to equal consideration for employment, nor the very real standardized physical access accommodations until government decreed it so. It became a right via interpretation of the US Constitution and was enforced via new specific statutes and rules. I ultimately see no real difference in the thinking of the states which have now prohibited employers from banning legally carried guns in their employees' vehicles. It has become a government ceded right in those states, just as helper dogs may not be barred either. I would hope that someday this same right will extend to all the states and to Federal employees also. Though "legal/fair" or "right/need" are far from synonymous concepts, there is indeed a logical benefit for a society to attempt to reconcile them as closely as possible to be such. And while I also agree that in general Who Governs Least Governs Best, and that the US has surely vastly overcompensated toward the PC/Nanny end of the continuum, I'd suggest how less "fair" your own lifestyle might well be if the gooberment hadn't somewhat "nannied" a few things to accommodate the legitimate best interests of a lawful minority, though to apply your reasoning on the issue under discussion similarly, it was not "legal" that is was done, and you had no "right" to ask for it. - OS -
Was just shooting my 581 today, too. Generally do 4-6" at 200 yards elbow braced on table with the cheap Russkie stuff. I'm not much of a shot, though. - OS

Yeah, cool, stick in a improved cylinder, or just cylinder if one is made for it, whichever, let er rip. - OS
-
Doesn't much matter. Put an improved cylinder in it (since true cylinder choke hard to find), fine with buckshot/slugs. Actually, you could shoot either through much tighter chokes, but no real advantage and tighter chokes can even degrade slug accuracy, though HD doesn't suppose very long shots. I'm assuming this is not a rifled barrel, btw, since I never heard of one in 18". - OS

IF a significant number of businesses began banning a certain legally possessed customer/employee item from their properties, and certainly if it were one that was important for maintaining the well being/safety of those individuals, then yes, of course I would assume it be incumbent upon government to pass a law forbidding the owner to do just that -- whether that item was a spare tire, an oxygen cylinder, an overcoat, an umbrella, or a handgun. - OS -

You can make all the rules you want, except for the ones that the government has made for you, which you admit. The government can make new rules. If those clash with your existing ones, guess whose rules win out? - OS -

I just gave you examples of "rules of usage" that certain private property owners have no control over. You're just arguing for the sake of .. well, I don't know why. How about: No customer/employee may enter property with a spare tire in trunk. None may enter property while clothed. None may be red-headed (this is not even race, creed, sex, age, etc related) How about, all HCP holders must have a loaded firearm in car? How about, all non-HCP holders must have an unloaded firearm in car? You can get silly with what "private property rules" would NOT be allowed by government if you like... - OS -

Strick strick strick... Just a quick off the top, the gov, whether local/state/federal determines: - whether you can even HAVE your business where you want (type of business, zoning) - who you must accomodate (or rather who you can not NOT accommodate) - how you must accommodate them (parking, handicap access, sanitary facilities) - safety regulations, whether you are a hardware store or restaurant or trucking company - your tax rate, from property to income Depending on biz type, no. See above -- you may not even be able to HAVE the business in your home, depending on biz type/zoning. FFL, since we're discussing this on TGO, comes to mind. Your income tax is different for biz, home office deduction has certain rules, no choice on your part, etc etc etc. Even your liability for customer injury due to trip and fall is different for a customer that enters your home than for a friend, etc. Just a quick few things YOU can't call the shots on. - OS -
Because it simply does, for a couple of years now. Loaded mag/clip/tube in rifle or shotgun, long as one is not in chamber. In vehicle only, not carried. Of course, you can keep loaded mag/clip right next to gun, too, but might has well have it as ready to go as possible, eh? TCA 39-17-1307. They should give you a list of places. They do in Knox County. Btw, you can go to any full service DMV in the state, not just one in Blount County. - OS
