  1. My peace of mind doesn't require that you cease to give us a piece of your mind. - OS
  2. Get $2 coupon here: http://www.cjlenterprize.com/images/couponcjl.png - OS
  3. For your info, that's Olean, NY. US made Ka-Bars are still made there. - OS
  4. Why not come to show in Knoxville? For the drive + $10 to enter show ($8 with coupon, see thread in events), you can get access to a $149.99 Hi-Point plus hours and hours of entertainment ogling and handling thousands of gun and gear items. For whatever reason, Nooga just doesn't have a show as big as this one. Possible suggestion to save bucks: post a topic in Events and Gatherings, maybe see if anyone else from your area is coming up, maybe you can ride along cheaper, kick in a little gas money. - OS
  5. Of course any business, or person, must "make a profit" or eventually go out of business. Even an individual may declare bankruptcy and "go out of business". But to say no business pays taxes because the income to pay them comes from their clients is same as saying that I don't pay taxes because my income comes from retirement income, investment income, SSI income, and freelance work, and that those sources are paying my taxes. In other words, no organization or individual actually pays its/his own taxes. Your continued argument in this vein is both non sequitur to the actual topic and further, is absolutely one of semantics only. - OS
  6. FWIW, city code still says $50 and up to a month jail time. It also states that it is indeed a misdemeanor, so I suppose it would always show up on a background check. I guess if you get jail time, you can can call Bill in Nashville and I'm sure he'll take care of you. - OS
  7. Is what posted? Knoxville parks are not posted, but it's illegal to carry in them. I guess it's the old saying, "Ignorance of the law is no excuse", eh? Knox County parks are okay for carry. There is one greenway that goes from county to city back to county all in the same direction, too. Is that cool, or what? - OS
  8. They are, but quite high pricing. That C-9 will probably be $180 or more. - OS
  9. No, it's weard to show a handgun carry permit badge. Especially for an instructor (who should know better, IMNSHO). - OS
  10. OMG. Welcome to TGO, I guess. - OS
  11. No, works okay within reason and can be pretty handy, mainly due to compact nature. A conventional fishing rod is a quite fragile thing survival-wise. - OS
  12. I ain't gonna be one. I've done my part to stem the overpopulation part. - OS
  13. And do it from afar. I don't need a gun to off you up close. - OS
  14. Maybe, just gonna figure soon. This is the first year in last 13 that I can probably do my own taxes, and haven't had to pay quarterlies. Yeah, but just blew the simple math, duh. Maybe I better NOT do my own this year. - OS
  15. Gun show here in Knoxville next weekend at the Expo. T&T out of Selmer and some other dealers who attend always have Hi-Points, might be worth the trip for ya, plus gunshows just being fun. The C-9 is $149.99 + tax/TICS, new. I proudly own one my own self (but don't recommend it as your primary or only pistola). - OS
  16. I've paid into FICA since my first on-the-books summer job at 13, only been out of work maybe total of 2 years out of the 46 I worked either part time or full time. Just started getting SSI at 62. $1154.00 per month. I'm under JayC's TN poverty level. Something must be wrong. - OS
  17. Mosinon writes the occasional non-fiction book. You? - OS
  18. One lawyer's opinion on this site aside, my lawyer buds say that the "curio, ornament or keepsake" exception is generally ample for owning switchblades. Hence why switchblade sellers are not hassled at gun shows, at least in 21st century towns. Just how is that so? I have 5 knives on me right now, all completely concealed. Hell, one is in my freaking wallet. No. - OS
  19. LOTS of folks do. - OS
  20. Don't know exactly what I'm seeing on some of the other pix, but it's pretty common to see a slightly dirty bore, since 'bout all companies test fire at least one round before shipping, if for no other reason than to satisfy legal requirements of a state or two. Did it come with one spent shell casing? - OS
  21. Almost certainly because you have put links to your own hard drive. You have access to it, but we don't. - OS
  22. Will help with them uber tactical cardboard box missions. - OS
  23. A conviction for vandalism is not a disqualifying reason for HCP. It's denied because there is not a final disposition of the case on record. You need to get some sort of final judgment documentation and give it to TBI. Many others have gone through this, but I don't know how they found the correct part of TBI office to deal with. Perhaps through TNDOS? Perhaps some will chime in about who to get in touch with and what they'll require for this. Generally, having records "sealed" or expunged will hide them from normal inquiries, but not from law enforcement. I'm pretty certain you simply need some sort of documentation for final judgment; guilty, innocent, case thrown out, whatever. - OS
  24. $10 Gerber EAB. Perfect package opener. Never needs sharpening, just change blade. $20 Boker Subcom F. Plus, it's a fine money clip: - OS
  25. To echo Dolomite, what does letter say is reason? What does it say for you to do, or who to contact? Any case uncovered in the background check that does not have a published resolution may stop the process until documentation is supplied. This happens even if a conviction on the old charge would not be a disqualifying event. Often, one is able to pass a check to buy a gun, but the more extensive check for a HCP uncovers a glitch. No way to know if you can pass check for firearm purchase short of trying it that I know of, although I think you can pay TBI to run a check on yourself (but don't know the procedure). You've never bought a gun from a dealer before? - OS
