  1. Effects of the quake were much mitigated by being underwater and 130+ miles away plus perhaps most importantly, the fault line it occurred upon did not extend through Japanese mainland. Just not the same situation at all as New Madrid or San Andreas faults. You're actually supporting my point that the Japan quake was actually far from a worst case earthquake/nuke facility test. - OS
  2. First states you have to be concerned about carrying loaded: East: None South: None North: IL-MD/DC West: CA/OR/WA - OS
  3. That earthquake was minimum 130 miles away from any of these reactors. - OS
  4. Illogical. No more nookie. - OS

    CLIP DRAW

The instructions for the universal model that uses tape say to leave the plate on with clip out, if you wanted to use a holster for a while. - OS
  6. And Hasan was a psychiatrist! - OS
  7. Yeah, I think Union county has had the highest per capita murder rates in the state off and on. - OS
  8. Yeah, that whole "injuring a fellow man" thing is as screwy as Stacey is. (he got my vote, though). - OS
  9. That's funny, I had already edited to not seem mean, you were too quick for me. - OS
  10. ?? You can't filter sea water to make it potable. - OS
  11. I call for better checks on White House hirees. Presidents should be proven native born Americans. Treasury secretaries shouldn't have history of tax fraud. Senior advisers should not be self-proclaimed communists or Socialists. Czars should be approved by congressional committee at the least. Stuff like that. - OS
  12. Ah, neato!...thanks for dropping in! - OS
  13. Maybe. Could get a month in the pokey, too. And a misdemeanor on your record, I guess. - OS
  14. And it's LR not LF Nah, you didn't hurt cylinder, doubt if even long term use would. Did you not notice the bulged casings? I never thought to do it on purpose, but did a couple not long ago just to see. - OS
  15. They did not opt out of new state statute, they simply didn't have to do anything. If local ordinance were forced to be repealed, they'd just fall back on opting out of state law, but would have to spend money for posting. Penalty would be greater. No win here. - OS
  16. Yeah, you can go any time of any day, but if you want to shoot, only on TU, TH, SA, SU, various hours depending on day. $5.50 per 2 hours. Very strict supervision, sit down bench range only unless you join the Volunteer Rifle Club there. $20 one visit, $40 yearly pass, June 30-June30. Not prorated. Except for ORSA club, those are the only two outdoor ranges around. Oh, apparently anyone can join Moose Lodge on Callahan Rd. they have some sort of outdoor range. - OS
  17. Curly Neal was a Harlem Globetrotter. Curly Howard was the original Curly Stooge, brother of Moe and Shemp. Great brawl story. - OS
  18. Smack flat side of mag against flat of your hand a few times. And/or remove last round, smack, then reinsert last round. That help? - OS
  19. Yeah, seems at least a couple (so far) are. Only a billion bucks each, maybe double that now, these were pretty old. Unlike conventional disaster sites, it's possible that they cannot even be razed to reclaim the land and surrounding infrastructure, but only abandoned and sealed. It's not like Japan has lots of land to spare either. This (and spent fuel storage) is why we simply don't have as many nuke plants in US.. This quake/tsunami is being referred to as a "once in 500 years" event and the like. Okay, cool, except that you're dealing with materials that have half lives of 50,000 years or whatever. Pretty arrogant to think we can always safely handle that over time. We also are still clueless on nuke waste storage. Yucca Mountain site has been scrapped after billions spent there. We have deadly stuff with half lives longer much longer than human history stored all over the country. Then again, the risk may well be worth it, and indeed inevitable as our other sources of energy peter out and/or prove to be woefully inadequate. - OS
  20. No they don't. Where did you get that? The Federal "safe passage" statute is quite succinct: ---------------------- Gun Control Act of 1968, Sec. 926A, Interstate transportation of firearms: Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle:Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. -------------------------- - OS
  21. Read my post #25. It was because HCP is pulled for duration of any Class A misdemeanor sentence. It is indeed specified in TCA. - OS
  22. Feller named Lydon Baines Johnson and selected cronies such as Robert McNamara were the biggest liars in the entire affair, and should have been hung for murder and treason. Of course, they tried to do that to the main whistle blower, Daniel Ellsberg instead. Typical to shoot the messenger. - OS
  23. Yep, I've shot the full sized .45 XD. It's sweet. Though 1911's are traditional peacocks and all, the utilitarian XD .45, like its Glock counterparts, is dead solid plus the capacity advantage. - OS
  24. Yep. Here and there, but I don't recall any big dealer. Wasn't much looking though. - OS
