  1. Or maybe he'll unload a whole mag of whatever he's carrying at your sound, too. I'd just as soon have the first sound the BG hears from my direction be the last sound he hears period. - OS
  2. If you're wrong, only the TGOers quite near you will have the chance to give you an Oh Yeah? - OS
  3. ?? Knife is still not out. No pre-release reviews that I can find either. Heck, it could turn out to be vaporware for this year. The Voyager did for 2010, and so far for 2011 also. Meanwhile, you could buy the Leatherneck Trainer to tide you over, it's available. - OS
  4. I've never been able to find when it was first illegal to carry a gun in TN, but it certainly dates way way before the permit process came to be. - OS
  5. I'm thinking that the two likeliest nuke scenarios are: 1. Dirty bomb (which wouldn't probably even be a nuke, actually, but some sort of explosive that simply disperses the hot material). Likely responsible for more terror than actual death, unless it were really a whopper, or a whole bunch of suitcase sized suicide squads setting off a bunch at one time all over the country. 2. The EMP scenario. Really a lot of bang for the buck. Might be difficult to trace source, especially if just one. Now that we actually have private rocket enterprises, it's conceivable that a terrorist org could actually afford to toss one up there at some point. In such an increasingly small world, really can't see much motive for government or terrorist org to destroy turf in such a way as to make it unusable for a thousand years or whatever. If you could just set a first world country back for a few years, you win big. There's one other nuclear wild card: the neutron bomb. I haven't heard much about them in years, which probably means at least we and the Russkies have really good ones. Unlike Spook, though, I think North Korea might be a pretty likely candidate for doing a big nasty. They could always be given the stuff to do it with, whether their technology is up to it or not. It's difficult to believe that an entire country can essentially be run by a handful of madmen, or even just ONE lunatic, but it's a fact. Kim Jr. has probably been raised to be as much a psycho as pop. And of course, some of the countries are run by Muslim Madmen, and that's a real bonus for a "Christian Nation" like the USA. All that being said, though, I still think the likeliest scenario for mass population reduction, here and worldwide, is still in the economic realm. - OS

    My first baby

What is this "break down" you speak of? This is a Hi-Point. - OS
  7. See Mike's follow. Yes, they are all technically "air bursts". Big diff tween 500-1000 feet and 50 miles and up. I understand how you get hung up on "issues" sometimes, but this really is known science. While the EMP effects may be debated, the radioactive/destructive effects (or rather, relative lack of effects) of high altitude nuclear explosions are pretty much just math, not voodoo science like global warming or something. Pedestrian overview at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_altitude_nuclear_explosion - OS
  8. You need to research a bit more. High altitude nukes kill no one and emit little if any radiation to ground level. Even those still within the atmosphere are very benign in those regards compared to a surface detonation. - OS
  9. Probably same content as the 2 liter soda bottles. Kept of out direct sunlight, they're essentially "forever". - OS
  10. And you've stored them for how long? I just use Aquatainers now. City water is fine for the purpose, already chlorinated. - OS
  11. I had urban legend all over my floor from Kroger 1 gallon water jugs in less than 9 months. Oddly, some would develop pinhole leaks from top area and the water would just slowly evaporate, but the ones that leaked on the bottom, well, leaked. - OS
  12. Problem with commercial bottled water is that hardly any of it comes in type plastic that will last even 2 years without leaking. Some won't last 6 months. - OS
  13. Step one is probably to support the TFA. - OS
  14. Oh wow...yeah, something seems to have changed with their line, not sure what's up. This is the model that has been available 'bout everywhere for last couple years, but no more, seems: Amazon.com: Bushnell .22 Rimfire 3-9x32 Riflescope (Black): Sports & Outdoors Might want to go to Bushnell site and see what they are making for .22. - OS
  15. Some of us Jews, Pagans, and agnostics don't want to be necessarily wearing crosses period, ya know. - OS
  16. Seriously, though, you need to lock left elbow onto waist and have rigid left arm rather than let right hand/arm take all the brunt. If not locked into waist, left arm at least needs to be pushed out rigidly locked all the way back to shoulder. No sense having a shotgun/technique that would take long recovery before getting second shot off. No way to clear that room full of baddies before you're toast. - OS
  17. Just about every county has some long-time well drilling outfit, often a family biz. Ask at nearest co-op, farm store, or ask UT county ag agent (if he hasn't been laid off yet). - OS
  18. Self-deprecating humor is of the highest caliber. Or gauge, in this case. Thanks - OS
  19. They say nothing about charity work online. Not a word. There's one little mention of scholarships for law enforcement oriented students, but no info anywhere else about them, how to apply, whatever. Color me unimpressed. - OS
  20. Yet another whoosh? - OS
  21. Is he same name (a "jr")? Who knows how these databases work. - OS
  22. Like, nobody in the world could have airlifted big ass diesel generators into there before now to at least drive the pumps? - OS
  23. Why need a carry permit at all? Why can't have an automatic weapon or a shotgun with 12" barrel? Why can't carry in any federal facility in entire US? Etc. I think you must be the first person to ever think of these things. - OS
  24. I had never heard of them, but see that we indeed have one store in Knoxville. edit: after looking at map, I've been by that store a jillion times through many years; little funky lookin' place that I never thought to even stop and look around in.l - OS
  25. So you shape yourself differently for St. Paddy's Day, like a jello mold or something? - OS
