  1. Wow, couldn't be just a normal extinct Eastern Cougar, but has to be a black one, that never existed here to begin with. That's sort of like claiming to have seen an albino BigFoot instead of just a normal BigFoot. - OS
  2. I have heard that some Sevier County natives can't spell "Smoky Mountains", but didn't believe it till I saw it with my own eyes. Are you sure those guys weren't just tourists from up north or did they alll have the official berets on? - OS
  3. 39-17-1351 says yeah. - OS
  4. C'mon. They've got 600 stores and are in most of the states. I rather doubt they did a change in nation wide policy over 2 or 3 people. In VA, there was an open carry group that met at one of the CBs for years, for example. They were always warmly welcomed, until last week. - OS
  5. You've been able to carry in businesses that sell beer/liquor for offsite consumption for many years, if not posted to contrary. - OS
  6. No electricity to power anything, including pumps, power rod shields, nada, and no way to restore it within weeks, maybe months at minimum. THAT wouldn't be an emergency the rival or surpass the Japan situation. And it happens to ALL nuke plants in America at same time? - OS
  7. Assuming your shoot is ruled justified, any weapons infractions under Part 39-17-13xx are waived. One of those is possession of handgun while under the influence. "39-17-1322. Defenses. A person shall not be charged with or convicted of a violation under this part if the person possessed, displayed or employed a handgun in justifiable self-defense or in justifiable defense of another during the commission of a crime in which that person or the other person defended was a victim." - OS
  8. Yes, in TN, HCP status shows when they run your license. Not plates, but license. - OS
  9. He's wrong, as far as legality is concerned. Right as far as following USPS/FedEx/UPS rules are concerned. That's usps. FFLs and police depts. can use USPS between each other. The "metal part" that is the receiver, with serial number on it, IS the firearm. Sending this out of state from individual to individual is a federal offense. Sending it to instate individual or to any FFL using other than overnight service violates UPS/FedEx terms of service.- OS
  10. Check your clock. It runs backwards. - OS
  11. Aww, it wouldn't have been half the picture with it unloaded. - OS

For all the BS I've gotten from various relatives back in the day who claimed to look into all that stuff, one fact seems true: The spellings of my last name all varied when my ancestors originally hit the shore here, and wanted to distinguish the pickpockets from the horse thieves from the pimps from the highwaymen. - OS
  13. But but...this is Willie. In Texas, fer c'sake. - OS
  14. Look forward to shootin widja again one of these days, Cody. Stay safe and do good things. - OS
  15. Your statement, "Wearing sheath knives of any length is prohibited in all public places in TN." is factual, but my quoting it constitutes bs. As usual, a most deeply conceived and nuanced opinion on your part -- once again I'm most impressed. - OS
  16. I tell ya, question 11F on 4473 might oughtta be answered yes re that SSI disability thing for mental, also. - OS
  17. I "sneak in" a loaded pistol every gun show, with "loose ammo" in a spare mag. Because it's my EDC and because it's not illegal. I do it because I don't leave guns in my vehicles, and I don't leave home without a gun. If I bring a gun I'm going to handle for whatever reason, I check it in. Btw, you lost any credence with me for your legal interpretations after making the statement that "Wearing sheath knives of any length is prohibited in all public places in TN." (http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/knives-bladed-tools/47229-legal-folder-carry-blade-length.html#post669129) - OS

And only 5 years for original owner. - OS
  19. Wonder how well nuke plants are shielded from EMP? Like, if a truly effective EMP burst happened, could they still safely shut them down? We see Japan's capabilities compromised just by a flood. What if there were no power period and no way to generate it internally? - OS
  20. I don't know about "bar carry" in MI, but you can conceal carry in alcohol serving restaurants there with permit. - OS
  21. It's clearly not compliant with 39-17-1359, as far as penalty for carrying past a sign. It's more in realm of private property rules/trespassing. - OS
  22. If you know what new gun you want, you're generally going to find it within 5% of best walk-in dealer price around. At least in Knoxville area. Great place to see and fondle guns -- you'd have to go to 4 or 5 area gun shops just to see the same guns you will from a couple of the larger dealers there. And of course, THE deals are in all the private sales. Yes, of course you can do that at any time, but where else but gunshows can you peruse 500 non-dealer folks' guns in one place that are for sale or trade? - OS
  23. Well, as I understand it, that's the rad stuff that gets out easiest, due to weight, spread by wind and water. Well, "meltdown" doesn't mean it melts anything but the core itself and holes in containment walls. And it can't go boom. But there's plenty of nasty gamma stuff there with long half lives. Let's just say that if the site fails to extent of having to be abandoned, the Japanese won't be planting snow peas or farming carp around there for the next 400 to 30,000 years, depending. Btw, Yucca Mountain has been dead in the water for some time, but only officially dead recently: Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Good example of our arrogance, that. Turned out wasn't a good place at all, if you're thinking REALLY long term. Matter of fact, I don't personally think storage is an option. We need to develop science to recombine it to something safe on atomic level. It's the modern equivalent of the alchemist's aim of lead to gold. - OS
  24. I've held chunks of that glass (not hot); my ex used to be involved with some of that. Vitrification is still being done to some extent worldwide; of course it's complicated and expensive process and a more dangerous endeavor to the workers doing it than just dumping in a pool of water. And it's still hot, of course. It's just that it keeps the physical material from fragmenting and migrating, like waterborne or windborne. - OS
  25. 1989 was first year you could (maybe) get a permit from country sheriff. 1994 was first "shall issue" year. - OS
