  1. All correct, but note that to be completely scot free, you must not even have a short barrel in your possession, unless you also have something else it can legally be used on in a non-NFA configuration with you, which in this case would be an AR pistol. "An NFA firearm is made if aggregated parts are in close proximity such that they serve no useful purpose other than to make an NFA firearm" - OS
  2. See, there's the controversy, as I'd say "our political class", meaning the Trump admin, which means Trump alone, treated the whole thing as a nation wide case of the sniffles. As soon as DJT realized that the state of the economy was the only possible saving grace to win the election, dead Americans became an inconvenience rather than a priority. - OS
  3. OIC. Well,
  4. If you could separate the "controversial" parts, sure. But otherwise, what is more pressing a matter these days? There's a lot of real "unadorned" info in here. Hell, I even do math to post the ongoing TN daily death rate updates. Oh, right, I forgot, the whole thing is word's biggest hoax, nobody dies from Covid at all. - OS
  5. Sudden distribution mystery: Suddenly, many if not most states are being told by the feds that they'll get 30-35% fewer doses than promised. Azar hinted that it was a Pfizer production problem. Pfizer put out statement that they have met all production schedules and have the stated number of doses "on the shelf" ready to send, but have received no more directives from the federal admin as to where they should go. Keep tuned. - OS
  6. I don't know exact levels, but 3 yrs ago after routine physical, mine was low, doc said take 2K IU/day for a year, next year was okay, so I've stayed with it. Didn't get a real physical this year, just a "telemedical" which didn't work (I could hear/see him but he couldn't me), so we just chatted over phone. - OS
  7. TN average daily deaths (updated 2PM daily): March 0.7 (first death 3/21/20) April 5.8 May 5.3 June 8.0 July 14.7 Aug 22.5 Sept 23.2 Oct 29.0 Nov 41.9 Dec 67.0 (thru 14th) total TN deaths: 5,541 IHME projection based on current projection scenario by April 1, 2021: 8,735 (This down from 10,494 in last projection -- didn't probe into it, but mainly due to vaccine being figured in I guess?) - OS
  8. 2-6 team with more money behind it than the federal budget beats a more anemic than usual 0-7 instate rival (with a girl on the squad no less). Small measure indeed. - OS
  9. What's old? Shall we just use 65, official gummit geezer age? About 20% of deaths have been from folks younger than that. Heck, that's only 60,000 of us. - OS
  10. I wouldn't use FL as any kind of comparison as to veracity of anything Covid related. DeSantis has played fast and loose with all data since the gitgo, even squelched it entirely for a while. He reached a new shameful level today by raiding Rebkah Jones' home. (pick your poison); https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=fl+raid+on+rebekah+jones If anything, TN daily rate may be often a bit under reported, as per this note: "Please note for deaths: Some deaths may be reported by health care providers, hospitals, medical examiners, local health departments, or others before they are included in the statewide count." That said, Tn weekend/holiday daily totals are almost always lower than most M-F rates; I'd put that down to localized reporting lagging from the average facility that is less clerically staffed during those times, so some of those counts may well get folded into the next biz day. - OS
  11. New record daily TN death tally today: 100 - OS

  16. TN average daily deaths (updated 2PM daily): March (over last 11 days of month starting 3/21 with first death) 2.0 April 5.8 May 5.3 June 8.0 July 14.7 Aug 22.5 September 23.2 October 29.0 November 41.9 total TN deaths 7,975 (error)* IHME projection based on current projection scenario by March 1, 2021: 9,403 - OS *Just caught error while posting new ones, transposed something or other, dunno exactly what that total was, but something just under 5K.
  17. oopsie, double tap somehow
  18. Vaccine seems to be spot on this year (and more folks than usual may well have taken it), most strains not as easily infectious as Covid, so isolation/distancing/masks likely have had a significant effect. Here's one analysis: https://www.livescience.com/flu-season-mild-covid-19-precautions.html - OS
  19. Good mining. So, Covid doesn't kill as many of us as a couple of already existing maladies. I'd call that a fortunate circumstance. - OS
  20. Dunno about all that, but a quick look at CDC total death count for 2019/2020 at: https://data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Weekly-Counts-of-Deaths-by-State-and-Select-Causes/muzy-jte6/data I grabbed/pasted together the "all causes column". Not going to add them up myself, but I didn't see any in 2019 that hit 59K, but a bunch of them hit that and above in 2020. Look especially at March-Aug You'd have to do some real statistical digging to determine the rate of specific types of deaths and how the Covid year affected them. Like fewer from some reasons (less driving, whatever) more from others (suicides maybe), whatever. - OS
  21. Whether a kid is symptomatic or not, I see no credible science purporting that somehow a kid with Covid isn't infectious -- which would make Covid unlike every other infectious disease on the planet in that regard. - OS
  22. And where is the database for "antifa" or "BLM" or "the homeless"? I'm sure those populations are being affected according to the same contagion factors as anyone else. People don't "fall over in the streets" from Covid. We die laying down, at home, in hospitals, in tents on the street. We don't die en masse, we die one by one. At projected total deaths of half a million, that's maybe .25% of us. All pretty inconsequential, unless it you or yours that fall into that group. ------------ edit: of course I meant that last sentence in a statistical sense, not as valuation of individual human life. - OS
  23. Dunno where that's from, but TN's official draft proposal looks more like this: From https://www.tn.gov/health/news/2020/10/21/tennessee-infrastructure-plan-for-covid-19-vaccine-distribution.html Specifically, from the PDF linked on that page at: https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/health/documents/cedep/novel-coronavirus/COVID-19_Vaccination_Plan.pdf - OS
  24. Mask mandate doesn't mean many/any more people abide by it than those who simply do it by choice; especially in a red state where the issue has become largely one of politics rather than health. I see this as nature's beta test for reducing the population. The half a million or so ain't jack, but it shows that we're a very easy mark for a more lethal one. - OS
