  1. No, it doesn't say just that at all. I can also assure you that some of the absolutely most inaccurate information imaginable can be had by calling TNDOS HCP office, unless you get to speak to the cheese herself (Lisa). - OS
  2. Fun with statistics. Remember that to make a 5% loss in any given eatery you'd have to assume that locally (and/or state-wide for chains) that HCP holders are actually already responsible for 5% of the eatery's total income. Which would mean that they (and their non-HCP family and friends who wouldn't eat there if they didn't) eat there at least once every day or so, but probably MORE than once per day. No way to really measure that precisely, that's for sure. And of course also that all, or even most, HCP holders even give a crap. I'd say that only about 5-10% of the total HCP population is as "active" as the folks on TGO -- and I'm not sure that even 10% of TGOers are that involved. So you've got that (not) going for ya. All that said, though, it's also obvious that a small % of eateries will see the logic of not posting from a well written missive, or perhaps even believe that the loss of business would be significant. Of course, these are generally independent places that aren't subject to larger corporate decision on the matter. - OS
  3. A lawyer can't change the requirements of TN HCP, nor can he get a DUI conviction expunged. It has been stated here by both the rank and file AND lawyers that one DUI will not prevent you from obtaining an HCP, with the possible exception of it being within the previous 12 months (the Class A misdemeanor HCP suspension clause, though this is not stated in TNDOS eligibility exceptions). You can look at the first thread I could find regarding DUI/HCP http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handgun-carry-self-defense/52817-carry-permit-after-dui.html wherein subject is beat to death. Cut to the chase, the OP in that one, if you'll look at first and last posts, did indeed receive his HCP with a two year old DUI, without doing anything more than the normal application routine. - OS
  4. Well, crap...was just about to do that. - OS
  5. Because it only produces one discharge for each time the trigger is depressed. - OS
  6. I saw my name in a thread title! Ok, I'll be proud, though I'm strictly a 9mm semi-auto owner, and not too proud to own a Hi-Point, too ! Them Croats do indeed make a helluva heater. - OS

    Hiking Pistola?

Wow, please give some references to at least some of these "many recorded Cougar attacks". I have obviously overlooked verifiable evidence. - OS
  9. If you mean Centennial GC, I've seen coyotes there years ago. Hand me the pitching wedge and the .223 please. - OS

    CDL info

If 26K or less straight truck, not carrying 16 passengers, or carrying placard required hazardous, no CDL required. Note that actual manufacturer's GVWR is the criterion, NOT the plate that the owner put on it. 56FordGuy is saying that DOT/LEO might well just look at plate and let it slide even if vehicle is actually heavier than the plate classification would indicate, and he's right. But that's mostly up to your employer to lie about or not, assuming you're not the owner operator. - OS
  11. Looks too heavy to have been worn on clothing, unless belt buckle. Some sort of design emblem put on something more substantial, like a box/case, door, rifle butt, probably on wood or heavy leather is my guess. Which doesn't narrow it down much and certainly doesn't date it at all. Nifty find, for sure. - OS
  12. Thanks, I missed that somewhere in the flow. - OS
  13. Don't understand. He didn't get his gun back? Why? - OS
  14. Far as I know, all Ruger revolvers since a certain date (2004?) have an internal lock. It just happens to be inside the grip instead of behind the cylinder release. My SP101 and Blackhawk both have them. - OS ------------------------ edit: revise that statement -- my BlackHawk has the lock, my SP101 does not. The "Ruger J Frame" (LCR) has one. Ruger's statement from: http://ruger.com/safety/storageLocking.html "By the end of 2005, all newly manufactured Ruger firearms will be shipped from the factory with a new external key-operated locking device. These will be California-approved firearms safety devices that meet the requirement of California Penal Code Section 12088 and the regulations issued thereunder. The State of Maryland has mandated that all pistols and revolvers manufactured on or after January 1, 2003 must have an “integrated mechanical safety device” to be legally available for sale in Maryland. As a result, beginning in 2004, newly designed and manufactured Ruger pistols will be equipped with internal locks. Maryland law also provides that pistols and revolvers manufactured before January 1, 2003 may be sold in Maryland after that date, even though they do not have an “integrated mechanical safety device," provided they are accompanied by an external lock. Please contact our Service Department for a list of serial numbers of pistols and revolvers manufactured before January 1, 2003." I guess by "firearms" I guess they actually mean "handguns" only, though, as new rifles don't have them AFAIK.

  18. Pretty much my sentiments. It's ironic that America has been hooked on tea and coffee since day 1. Even "isolationists" use them. - OS
  19. So they were all sold without 4473 then? - OS
  20. Depending on where, what, when you read up on them, some are totally made and assembled in Brazil, some are partially assembled there, some from all imported parts here, whatever -- as you say, all frames come from there, etc. Lot of importation for an iconic American gun. Frankly, I've always thought it was pretty poor form for a company to simply buy their name from a previous iconic US company to begin with. Half the folks out there think Springfield is the same company. Didn't keep me from buying 3 XD's, though. Them Croats build a solid heater. - OS
  21. The Shriner temple there is just smaller venue than some other places. Same with Kerbela Temple here in Knox; used to be hot place for gun shows, but demand simply outgrew the smaller venue. Far as the recent political side down there: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/general-off-topic/55797-killer-police-officer-may-have-purchased-pistol-gunshow.html http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/general-off-topic/55596-police-officer-killed-chattanooga.html - OS
