  1. Yes, we want expansion of the light into the darkness, but we need penetration of the light through fog. - OS
  2. Aw, that's just you in particular, Mikey. You are your own caliber. - OS
  3. I question the whole 71 million myself; that figure seems to have originated on on CNN report near as I can tell, and keeps getting parroted down the line. Dunno, maybe that's figured on adults only or something. Although number of voting age citizens in 2008 was 231,229,580, so that doesn't jibe either. The 71 million could just plain wrong. - OS
  4. It's well known that chicks dig a .357 SIG feller. - OS
  5. Feed lips probably need to be squeezed closer together. - OS
  6. Yeah, government inflation index does NOT include food or energy. Like all energy, to drive your car, heat/cool your home. Just a couple of little minor parts of everyday life. No probs, just don't drive, use lights, or eat. $10/gal gasoline, 25% unemployment, doubling of food prices -- maybe just two of the three, and we enter a time like the 30's, except worse. Much worse. - OS

  8. You're really serious? If so, far out, in a rather twisted ironic way. - OS
  9. That would be why I said "the 47% of adults in USA who pay NO income tax..", Mosey. I wonder how many actually get a "tax rebate" due to the earned income tax credit. Meaning, one receives money for his immense effort of not having had to pay anything. Only in Amerika. - OS
  10. Yeah, selective unconstitutional lawmaking is business as usual on The Hill. - OS
  11. No choice but to raise the debt ceiling. It's been done 70 times, this will be no different. The Tea Party supported electees get press time because they're entertaining (as far as pols go), but they have not made one iota of difference within GOP so far, unless you call a .2% reduction in Obama's proposed 2011 budget some kind of conservative thumping and even that turned out to be smoke and mirrors. And after all, 2011 budget is still larger than 2010 budget, and 2012 will be larger than 2011. - OS
  12. No Tula either? Generally about the cheapest there is retail. - OS
  13. Oh, okay. Had to drag it out of you. Well, you'll probably get all kinds of recommendations, along with the standard advice that the violent Mini action is hard on scopes. I dunno, I put a totally no-name 3-9x40 that came with a Marlin 30-30 on mine, and it's held up so far for about 9 months. Also put one 1911 recoil buffer in mine, dunno if it makes all that much diff, but just like a 10/22 it stops metal on metal sound. If you locktite the Ruger rings down on the integrated bases, they'll hold. - OS
  14. Oh, okay, you must have older mini without the built in scope bases. Looks like that one ONLY holds that particular scope, right? Then if you want to use a scope of your choosing, guess you'll have to get a side mount base. Ruger doesn't make one. I'm sure some are better than others. Most likely MikeGideon will see this and set you right. Will look something like this: - OS

Good, them Gila Monsters are a whole 'nother level of trouble. Whattaya we don't have them here? JAB has convinced me we have EVERYthing here, since "you can't prove a negative". - OS
  16. They were just discussing this on Fox News. Universal sentiment on panel that this would be stopped PDQ. Guess we'll see. - OS

    Lizards

Skinks I guess mostly? (blue-tailed lizards and etc) I've never even heard of any folk remedies for dissuading them, myself. - OS
  18. Oh, the 47% of adults in USA who pay NO income tax and only GET bennies are always a factor. Indeed, this group will have grown by election time. It's the biggest Dem support base, and they cultivate it. Kind of ironic, the worse things get under the Dems, the larger their voting bloc. "The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money." - Alexis de Tocqueville - OS
  19. Don't understand. You mention side mount but stock Ruger scope rings are for the built-in scope bases on current models (which are not side mount). Just what vintage of Mini do you have? Does it have cast-in scope bases on top of receiver? - OS
  20. Oh, okay, you seemed to be responding to the info Dave and Steelharp posted. Kwik called since he lost his permit? I mean, he could be arrested anywhere in TN for carrying any firearm since last summer. Thanks, - OS
  21. Totally confused here. The link Dave mentions and comment thereupon by Steelharp, specifically: You must be a member to continue! (have to register to view) Is by The Rabbi (Bill Bernstein, East Side Gun Store), yes? To whom the PLR-16 was sold by court order, yes? How did Leonard Embody get involved here? - OS
  22. That's what a quick Google would indicate. - OS
  23. Yeah, that's the best reason of all. 'Bout only federal carry involvement I'd want to see is for The Supremes to incorporate the carry part of 2A. Then again, maybe that could have the same risk, dunno. - OS
  24. No way it could stand if passed and challenged. States' rights and all. Only way is for fed gummit to incorporate the carry part of 2A, in which case permits wouldn't be required period. - OS
  25. JFYI, ya might need to modify that yarn for credibility .. no blue racers in TN. Or out west. - OS
