  1. Why do some folks hate a cross bolt safety so much? I don't mind them at all. Just as easy to push off with trigger finger as a tang safety with thumb. I guess if I were left handed, it might matter, but other than that? - OS
  2. Again, http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/firearm-accessories/59439-serpa-holster-death-strikes-again.html - OS
  3. It's doing it again. This thread: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/general-off-topic/59462-child-killer.html Can't see second page. It says "1 of 29", but there are 33 posts. Set for 20 or 30 per page, still can't see second page. Set for 40 per page, can see them, but it still says only 29 posts there at top. 2 diff puters, one with XP, one with Win7, Firefox 5. edit: wow, whole site went down for 15 min after my post. Sorry. Anyway, I logged out to see if were something about a thread where I posted near the end. But no, same results as non-member, same wrong count of threads at top of page. - OS
  4. Since my mom was really into the thing, I watched the last week of it. ALL of it, including the endless commentary on HLN afterwards. Even got hooked enough to read up on what I had missed, and even !get up early! back home to watch the closing arguments. If I were on the jury, no way I could have found her guilty of the three main charges either. - OS
  5. Gabe Suarez is particularly vocal about it, a number of threads on his site. - OS
  6. You have normal business posting confused with the ABC sign. The sign under discussion is issued by the state (see pic in first post). - OS
  7. You can't. Only info available is to call or wait till they send you a notice in the case of a problem. - OS
  8. I guess Blackhawk should advertise the SERPA for "amateur use only" ? - OS
  9. Contrary to BATF "faq" everybody quotes from their website, notification not required under the statutes when sending to FFL. I have never found the penalty section for 18 U. S. C. 922 stuff. Just as with SKS conversion parts law, nobody has ever been able to point to where anyone has been charged with "not informing" a common carrier or USPS. - OS
  10. There is also the issue of grit/pebble/whatever jamming the lock so that the gun can't be removed. And breakage under hard use seems pretty prevalent. - OS
  11. There's a real irony involved with the UPS/FedEx thing. Federal law says you must notify the carrier only if NOT going to a licensee on the receiving end. But it also says that no notation must be made on package to indicate it is a firearm. And AFAIK the agent makes no notation on any other paperwork -- certainly if you have an account and print your own label they don't. Point is, there's no enforcement possible of the notification part of that law. - OS
  12. There are any number of folks who have shot themselves with help from the Serpa. In hasty draw, it can leave your finger right on the trigger. That's why several of the big training schools don't allow them. - OS
  13. Well, he built two duplicates of a Nambu in his garage that a buddy brought back from the Pacific, so yeah, you could say he was influenced. - OS
  14. Well, indirectly ... he reverse engineered and improved on the Nambu: - OS
  15. You can post in the Wanted To Buy forum in Trading Post without being a Benefactor. - OS
  16. Yeah, if they had just foreseen a few more things, like concept of the career politician and put in strict term limits so that our reps would have no motive beyond the best interests of the country, we likely wouldn't be in decline. - OS
  17. "The Galco King Tuk holster" (similar to a Crossbreed) "has no smell" (some folks report an objectionable smell on their Crossbreed apparently due to leather sealant used), "you can receive it in four days, it's very nice", "and you won't even notice you are wearing it." - OS
  18. Seems to be the only type GOP creature Tennesseans will elect, for some good long while now. Legislature is full of 'em, sent two to the US Senate, etc. - OS
  19. I like my Marlin 30-30, but I love my Marlin .357. - OS
  20. I'm not so much enamored of the lever action mechanism itself, although I certainly do appreciate the traditional nature of them. Since I wanted a .357 mag rifle, it's not like there's a lot of choices of operating type. It's great that the style lends itself to being narrow, relatively light, and fast pointing, though for sure. My Marlin 1894 and Ruger Mini 14 duke it out for favorite rifle. - OS
  21. I never really thought about this before, maybe a FFL or employee can chime in as to how they do organize their 4473's, and is there a prescribed way to do it? - OS
  22. Well, they COULD ask every FFL if John Doe bought a gun, but think they'd need to prove investigation to do it, maybe even a warrant of some type. Note that most (if not all) gun stores keep hard copy books only, which is all that is required. It would be pretty tough job for one that's been in biz a good while to find a name; if had date to go with it, would be pretty easy. Asking to see if John Doe ever filled out a 4473 is same thing, as only the gun stores have them, and the fed (nor the state) ain't by law supposed to keep the info from the background checks. Note emphasis. Then again, Patriot Act basically allows any agency to do damn near anything, depending on how that agency would like to interpret it. - OS
  23. LEA's can trace it from simple serial number from the factory to the distributor to the gun shop, and hence by gun shop's record to the first buyer. After that, in states where you can buy/sell individually with no paperwork (which is almost all of them), the trail ends. So LEA's can indeed generally find the first owner of a gun. - OS
  24. Nutnfancy on duty: - OS
