  1. As I understand it so far, he has only been convicted of "abuse of office" early in 2010, got 16 month suspended sentence, and this was not in connection with Knox's case, had to do with wiretapping some folks. You've made this statement twice -- is there updated news, or just your prediction? - OS
  2. After watching an hour long special on the whole thing, seems the prosecutor should be in prison for sure, regardless of whether Knox and/or Sollecito had any culpability in the matter. - OS
  3. No. However, the size is specified for signage in parks (different statute) - OS
  4. Half ammonia and half water in squirt gun worked well when I was a kid. Wasn't going as fast as modern road bikes allow, though, so yeah harder to deliver the stream depending on wind. But then, squirt guns have evolved, too; here's a roundup of the best: Scouting out the best water guns. - Slate Magazine - OS
  5. The most interesting statistic to me would be how many of these gun crimes were committed by those with a felony record, such that : (1) they of course possessed the weapon illegally but more importantly (2) they shouldn't have been out of jail in the first place save for our liberal sentencing and time served policies - OS
  6. Sort of. As I get it, federally began in 1994 as per first Brady Act iteration, along with 5 day waiting period for handguns -- federal waiting period and local checks sunsetted in 1998 with creation of NICS. Some states still have a waiting period, though. Was that 15 day waiting period a TN thing? All during those many years the only gun stuff I did was FTF, so I don't know. - OS
  7. Upon this most disturbing mental image, I withdraw.
  8. Actually, I'm in pretty good shape. Round is a shape, after all. - OS
  9. I'm sensitive about my weight. - OS
  10. I'm sure they're top notch, just a high end razz. - OS
  11. Truly awesome. Love the discreet blade design. Btw, does ZDP-189 just not get dull, or did you order the Kryptonite hone, too? - OS
  12. 4473 became federal law when you were one year old. The $10 is a TN state fee though, began in 1998. - OS
  13. Sounds about right, was $611 when I bought one there year and a half ago. Never known them to have a 30, but things can change. Generally best year round price on their .30-30 and .44 Marlin lever guns, too. As I already mentioned, I even got the uber rare 1894 .357 there. - OS
  14. Yeah, I remember now, the "new old stock" one. Well, fired shell is sticking, extractor is good, holding tight, that's why you can't rack it back. If it's still that way, (assuming here that IT IS ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY A SPENT ROUND IN THERE FOR SURE, RIGHT?) hold forearm and smack butt of gun on something "firm but soft" like solid grassy ground or carpet on floor, that'll generally pull it out without having to disassemble, although you'll need to get barrel out to do the following anyway. The standard fix stated by others I've read is to simply smooth out chamber -- I guess you could use steel wool, but get more advice on this as I'm not sure what grade is effective but still safe. You might be able to feel a specific burr somewhere in chamber with finger (or not). Another way that I've read several times, is to superglue part of Scotch Brite pad around a wooden dowel, chock it in drill and do chamber that way. Maybe just a brisk session by hand might even do it, dunno. Clean well to remove all grit, of course. Oh, here, this should provide some choices: http://www.google.com/search?q=shell+sticks+in+870&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a sticky 870 chamber - Google Search Again, you may find it's only one brand of shells that stick, and likely low brass ones, but you might as well do this, as an 870 should run anything. Seems to be quite common anymore with current ones, somewhat surprised one from '93 has the problem, but things happen. - OS
  15. Meaning it's "locked" after firing? Or it racks back leaving shell? If the first, and a new 870 Express, probably needs chamber buffed some. Seems the new ones aren't always up to snuff with finishing, might be burr or rough area there. Also seems to happen more with the cheaper low brass shells. If you mean it does rack after firing but leaves shell in chamber, then yeah, it could be extractor prob. - OS
  16. Nah, no more so than most any other gun. - OS
  17. It's been shown that it only takes a letter or two from LEA to TNDOS to zap your permit, without breaking any laws. So don't piss any cops off. - OS
  18. Still not final, btw. Moonbeam could veto it, and legislature apparantly doesn't have 2/3 to overturn it -- seems to have till Oct. 8. He'll probably let it become law without signing though, is my guess. - OS
  19. Excellent choice! - OS
  20. Nobody mentioned Ruger SR10/22 ? Or just make your own around a basic $200 10/22 by changing stock and etc. For example, this Urban Bad Ass Rodent Eradicator only cost about $350 or so, including the original new basic carbine model (sold original stock); includes Volquartsen hammer and extractor, receiver buffer, Bushnell .22 scope with see through mounts, stupid flash suppressor, "Winchester" bipod, Butler Creek mag (now Ruger sells their own better 25 rounder). - OS
  21. My opinion, 2A is included for both that purpose and for common defense against foreign invader. Jefferson's writings support the notion. Has nothing to do with simple individual ownership of firearms for self-protection and hunting. The founders never thought it would be necessary to iterate that right, any more than mention right to own a knife, fishing rod, axe, or hoe. - OS
  22. Certainly you can improve a rifle's action by either floating/bedding either/or receiver/barrel, but "25%" is some claim. Oh, I can't fault ya for wanting to go UberTac on one of them. I have two Minis also, one wood, which I added scope and bi-pod, plus the "tactical" model, which isn't, just has polymer stock and shorter barrel really, which I left as it came out of the box. They are both recent vintage with the improved barrel, and both shoot plenty well enough for my expectations. I got the Ruger PimpTac out of my system with one of my 10/22's, which I made into an UBART (Universal Bad Ass Rodent Terminator) Definitely would like to see pics and a report once you get the thing. - OS
  23. Yeah, deadline for energy stimulus funds came up, DOE hurried a bunch through at last minute. This was just one of them. Actually, I think it's 750 mil loan guarantee, dunno if they get it all in one pop, but imagine one way or the other it will indeed go down the EcoToilet into a relatively few pockets with all the rest. - OS
  24. More like Gecko45, or as someone mentioned, our own Jeep Monkey redux. - OS
