  1. I'd still buff that chamber out. Should run anything. - OS
  2. Sure, to logically refute mythology and myth masquerading as fact. However, I believe in self defense and have faith that 9mm is enough. - OS
  3. to echo FG, but quote statute: "39-17-1322. Defenses. A person shall not be charged with or convicted of a violation under this part if the person possessed, displayed or employed a handgun in justifiable self-defense or in justifiable defense of another during the commission of a crime in which that person or the other person defended was a victim." ("part" is 13xx, ie the weapons statues) - OS
  4. It's official, Moonbeam signed the no open carry of (unloaded) handguns bill. Goes into effect 1/1/12. Brown bans open carrying of handguns - latimes.com - OS
  5. Nah. ProMag. A miracle if it works reliably. Hell, HP's own ten rounders don't necessarily work reliably over time without tweaking, the only weak point with HP carbines or pistols. However, HP is slated to finally release their own 15 rounder for the 995, dunno about the .40 and .45. Of course, it was better part of 10 years before they finally did the .45 carbine after leaking it, so best not to hold your breath. - OS
  6. Everyone's different. My top two got so loose when I was about 55 I could have pulled 'em myself, no probs. Doc wanted to take one of the bottom ones about 4 years ago, I told him to go ahead and do the other one just for balance . Those were in there solidly, but he just numbed everything, didn't put me out. No probs, no real pain afterwards just had to not chew food on the pits for a few days. - OS
  7. It's true. I also thought I would surely never see our population more divisive than in the 60's. Hell, now it's torn worse asunder on even more fronts -- political, racial, economic, and religious. Islamic extremism wouldn't be a factor if the average Muslim had a pot to piss in and a window to throw it out of, or worse, had any hope of ever getting same. Poverty causes activism, and never constructive activism at that. And of course "poverty" is relative; the US is edging in to its first real dose since the 30's, and there are plenty of reasons to think this time around will make that era look like a walk in the park. - OS
  8. Who exactly are we "at war" with? Yemen? Afghanistan? Iraq? Libya? Pakistan? Taliban? Al-Qaeda? Mexican drug lords? Maybe right wing extremists? Veterans? The Michigan Militia? Whoever is deemed Terrorist Du Jour, De Facto Enemy Combatant of the week? You? Me? - OS
  9. Doesn't work with BATF though. Their FAQ has said for years that you must notify shipment carrier of gun shipment, when in fact law clearly states that you must only notify when sending from individual to non-license holder. But of course BATF, unlike TWRA, doesn't ever even respond. - OS
  10. I sent email, just got: "Thanks for the "heads-up" regarding our new regulation. I have removed the "4-inch" minimum from the FAQ page. Thanks again! Charlie Freeman,Webmaster,TWRA" - OS
  11. Is English your second language? "Amended": "Revised, altered, changed for the better." One "m", too. Certainly, some amendments reflect "cultural wishes of a certain generation". Prohibition and its repeal are pretty good examples. Original constitution made "everyone" free. Except Negroes. And women. And 18 year olds. Took amendments to "reinterpret" those "original thoughts". - OS
  12. Umm, right ... the fact that it's been amended 27 times should indicate its solid immutability. - OS
  13. Though the warranty actually states that only the first buyer is covered, in actuality nothing voids the warranty, even being run over by a truck by 10th owner. - OS
  14. It oughtta be illegal to use 9mm for deer too, IMO, but it's not. But barrel length is no longer a reg. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/hunting-fishing/62134-handguns-hunting-2011-tn-regs.html#post783885 Btw, BATF has had erroneous legal info in their FAQ for many years now. Frequently Asked Questions does not necessarily equate to Completely Correct Answers. - OS
  15. Outdated as per 20011-12 season: Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Hunting Equipment & Methods - OS
  16. "Officially", 4.9 ". I've only had mine for a short while, but really like it. I seem to be significantly more accurate with it from 15-25 yards than with my 5" XD 9, too. Just bought it new factory walnut grips in appreciation, even. - OS
  17. That requirement is gone. For better or worse, you can now hunt deer, bear, and elk with a .25 derringer if you want. Just don't use FMJ round, as that would be unethical and dangerous. - OS
  18. Seen this kicking around firearms forums for couple of years now. Anything's possible, but no credible evidence of it has surfaced to my knowledge. So even though it hasn't been "officially" debunked by Snopes or similar, I only give it 2A tinfoil status so far. - OS
  19. I have a Neos and totally agree, trigger sucks. It may be just as accurate as a MK, but we'll never know because there's no way to hold it on target as well with the clunky trigger pull. Mine happened to be a lemon too, took two trips to Beretta (whose shipping policy sucks) to get right, but admittedly that seems to be quite the rare case. Comes apart and back together in about 1 min flat, though. - OS
  20. Also, beer licenses are county by county controlled and have no food requirement, yes? - OS
  21. All schools same in TN for weapons laws. Kindergarten through college. Public or private. - OS

  23. Just after 10pm eastern .. the creep begins again. - OS
  24. Yep, as opposed to ROC (Republic of China - Taiwan). - OS
