  1. Followup: Like right now, I'm off and on getting 8-10 second lag from click to response, 2-4 the rest of the time. Can't just be me, everything else is lickedty split like normal? - OS
  2. It's never been overall as quick for me since the change, figure there's just a lot more going on in the background. I get periodic longer lags up to 10 seconds or more sometimes too. edit: rereading, I guess you probably weren't meaning the speed of the site.
  3. Have read they're switched to that over the last year or so. Mine have the Tapco. A little jokey-poo. - OS
  4. Nifty. Looks just like my WASR! It have Tapco or C (Century) trigger? - OS
  5. Dunno if the software change affected it that much (though it seems to have had some effect) and dunno about actual traffic stats, but surely seems a real drop in participation over the last few months. Saving graces lately, sadly, have primarily been Orlando and Trump, rather than actual gun specific related stuff. Haven't kept a finger on the Trading Post's pulse, guess it's held pert steady? I've hit it 'bout as hard as I can since Thursday, since pretty much glued to the tube with US Open. Hell, I've even gotten up early for it yesterday and today. - OS
  6. Not that BHO (or Hillary) is actually going to let the Sec. of Army actually release them, even though legislation passed to allow it, but apparently McCain wants them destroyed period. http://www.redstate.com/brandon_morse/2016/06/16/senator-john-mccain-wants-destroy-govt-surplus-1911-pistols/ - OS
  7. Looking around briefly, I guess they have gone up. I paid 60 something for my (new) Romy about a year ago.
  8. Or his NRA news series: https://www.nranews.com/series/noir - OS
  9. (please turn Tapatalk sig off, just for me, ok? ) Not talking about philosophy and/or justifications for revolt, but rather about the practical part of "armed rebellion". Meaning, just who is a armed group going to go attack? - OS
  10. Fighting back against who? Unless you're facing confiscation at your front door, who are you going to start shooting at? Sniping at members of Congress and SCOTUS justices? An expeditionary force to occupy DC? Or what? - OS
  11. Yeah, might well be still a bit of shock involved with the whole experience, sleeping it off. - OS
  12. The KCI seems to be about same price as the Romanian one, which for sure works. - OS
  13. Just a note: anyone has to do the same with interstate transaction. - OS
  14. No. I figgered DD distributed various parts/accessories there, not whole rifles? - OS
  15. Sam ain't a sports writer in that conventional sense. He's long time general interest writer about TN life and lore, has a number of books etc. Matter of fact, he's a quite popular guy, a down-home good ole boy traditional values type, hunter and fisherman. Started out many years ago as outdoor editor, then gradually transitioned into general feature/humor columnist. I'm surprised to see this particular opinion come from him. - OS
  16. Really don't want to transcribe it, but see if you can make this out, upsampled and sharpened. Still pretty poor, but maybe you can make it out?
  17. Here's apparently their internal memo, if you can read it with your screen resolution: - OS
  18. Thanks for the somewhat unexpected detailed and reasoned response. I'm mainly glad you abandoned the ad hominem tendency in your previous posts, and if my opening comment characterizing boycotters' stance as a "hoot" fomented that, I apologize. At any rate, I certainly ain't one to dissuade you folks from your convictions. "Putting one's money where one's mouth is" demonstrates a valid personal conviction , and if done in sufficient numbers can even certainly affect a business's practices and ultimately bottom line. But the history of Walmart, Dick's, and CTD to name just three suggests it won't do either -- and as a consumer I hope that remains true. Meaning, I still buy stuff (including ammo of course) from Walmarts that gave up their gun racks, competitively priced stuff from CTD even though they have history of gouging, Ruger and Smith firearms even with their "anti-gun" political stances of the past, and etc. And I won't abandon Academy over what I see as a relatively minor matter either. I just don't believe we're going to influence public policy/lawmaking by trying to punish the relatively few brick and mortar biggies that sell firearms in the first place, especially since that would only limit my own greedy options more than theirs. - OS
  19. I've gone on three quests with friends, one around Vincent, AL and two around Pulaski, TN. Pretty dang cool, I can see getting hooked on them, as always something nifty to do pretty much no matter where you are. I imagine that creating them would be perhaps coolest of all, as it's a blend of disciplines, like offbeat historical info, creativity and humor in descriptions and whatnot. - OS
  20. Good gawd, Spartacus. Academy, Wal-Mart, Dick's, Gander, CTD etc are businesses -- you know, those entities who have to make a buck to continue to exist. Especially with the first three, firearms are far from their primary revenue sources. Indeed, Wally and Dick's run profitable stores with no firearms sales at all, CTD used to do the same, and I'm sure Gander and Academy could do likewise. These places can run their affairs any way they like subject to the profit prognostications of their owners and/or the ROI for their stockholders. If CTD wants to gouge prices during a panic, or if Dick's, Wally, and Academy want to hide or discontinue their scary black rifles, fine. Consumerism will validate or refute those decisions. But it's unrealistic to ascribe some 2A responsibility on their part, they run their affairs via spreadsheet, and I run mine much the same in microcosm. Just like my groceries or anything else, I'll generally buy most of what I want firearms related at the best overall value I can find. If those purchases happen to coincide with a shared ethos between me and the vendor, so much the better, but I don't absolutely require it let go of a buck. Point is, above all I believe in free trade and competition -- you and I are free to patronize them or not -- bottom line for me is that the more places that sell firearms and ammo under any circumstances at all, the better for all of us, and at least indirectly, in support of 2A also. - OS
  21. You boycotters are a hoot. I think we'd best stick by any outfit that sells firearms at all, 'cause there likely won't be nearly as many in the future as there are now. Without going into a an often hashed out discussion, I'll just say that my go boom bucks remain largely "amoral". And yep, I still buy from CTD if their price is right. - OS
  22. Yeah, whole thing is a frigging mess. TNDOS is probably caught in between what they had already programmed and the new requirements, whatever. It might work out eventually if they'll leave it all alone for 6 or 8 years. Which is unlikely, as our idiots in Nashville insist on continually doing badly what need not be done at all. My recent renewal was 87.50 also, I see check was cashed, we'll see if similar happens with mine. - OS
  23. Changed this most recent session to sync with DL at eight years, phasing that in now after wasting two years of effort to sync with the 5 year cycle. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/default.aspx?BillNumber=HB2575&GA=109 - OS
