  1. I've bought 3 from Wally, two were not the display, were brought from stock already boxed. The one I got on display was the only one there, an uber rare .357 Marlin that had mysteriously come into stock. - OS
  2. In Knoxville, the big walk in at Family Care Practice on Middlebrook near the main Post Office does a ton of them. - OS
  3. Everyone who believes a saved trillion would be paid toward the national debt, stand on your heads. - OS
  4. Yeah, about as many as voted for Goldwater in '64. - OS
  5. The people who will be voting for free will determine the primaries. Obama's wet dream would be for Paul to somehow be the GOP pick. - OS
  6. Where does he park it with hookups? That ain't necessarily dirt cheap. - OS
  7. That's about it. Iraq will be under another junta, dictatorship, or iron hand Islamic theocracy within a few years; and/or be a de facto part of Iran. - OS
  8. Those are company specific physical requirements however, not part of the federally mandated CDL physical as specified under the FMCSA. - OS
  9. Well, whatever changes were made when, it's been stellar the last couple nights. As always, your efforts much appreciated. - OS
  10. Looks like it'll have to be kept at about 300 below to work, though -- wear some really good insulated boots! - OS
  11. Nope. Tell ya the truth, being a single only-child geezer with no kids, my SHTF/EOTWAWKI plans are a bit most simplistic than many, though I'm likely still better prepared than 95% of the population. I was just curious how many actual meetings the flurry of topics here might have inspired. - OS edit: if a TGO group inspired group did form in Knox county area, I'd probably attend, though, I wasn't mocking the idea or anything.
  12. Yep, tonight trouble free. Perhaps they hadn't actually yet switched your server change over the other nite when you thought they did? Or hadn't actually switched internal DNS to new location or whatever? - OS
  13. Quicker to run from a snake than shoot it anyway, unless you're some sort of quick draw artist and world ranked hip fire marksman. Lots of safer, quieter, and more reliable ways to kill one, too. - OS
  14. Whatever all that really means. My taxable income wound up being only 10.1K last year, but paid 1.08K in fed income tax and $300+ in TN income tax, so you sure don't have to be living very high on the hog to be in the 53%. Which is all the more amazing to me that we even HAVE a 47% who manage to live. - OS
  15. What they charge for a transfer is up to their discretion too! - OS
  16. Best I remember, standard eye chart, identify red green yellow (point to colored objects in room), low down hearing check (whisper), blood pressure, low level check of leg and arm strength, pee sample for blood or high sugar, quick stethoscope listen, quick look at ENT, like that. I think that's about it. 'Bout 40-50 bucks best I remember from places that routinely do it. Here's actual medical form from FMCSA: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/forms/649f.pdf Even though I'm retired from everything, gonna re-up my CDL just in case, and you have to have current medical card to do it, even if you're not currently working as a driver anywhere. Edit: no finger up the ass. - OS
  17. I must be missing your point. I pay income tax on significantly less than 50K/year. - OS

And even though "no honest man needs over ten rounds", I have a bunch of Ruger stuff too. You can add Smith and Wesson to the "past sins" category. - OS
  19. The SHTF/EOTWAWKI in me, however tin foilish it may be, calls for iron sights on every long gun I buy. - OS

I generally buy from the cheapest source I can find for the products I want. I have no responsibility for anyone who doesn't research the market enough to know what price range is reasonable. I also don't attempt to make political statements with my buying power, so I shop at Walmart, use PayPal, own a Moonie gun, three Croatian guns, knowingly buy certain Chinese products, and occasionally buy from CTD. It's called capitalism and I tend to roll that way. - OS
  21. You didn't close it. , so: I'm afraid the old 10pm (eastern) time slot is crawling tonight about as bad as usual. I think they're gonna have to put you on a different server than the one that hosts Luscious Lascivious' live web cam. - OS
  22. Seen some folks trying to swap a Glock for an XD. That's a quick mod. - OS
  23. The big flurry of proposed preparedness meetings over the last month or so: did anybody meet? At all? - OS
  24. Starting in 2012, you have to have pic to vote, so now most seniors that did that are having to get their DLs updated. - OS
  25. Correct. Individuals can do this is most states in the US, meet at an FFL within the buyer's state. Or of course ship the firearm to an FFL in the buyer's state. There are a few states that require an additional license for the purchaser however, like our own little piece of the northeast down here, North Carolina (have to have a pistol purchase permit). The feds don't restrict states from being more stringent than the federal law. There are two or three in the northeast who also limit long gun sales to just the states that abut, even though federal law allows an FFL dealer to sell a long gun to a resident of any state who walks into his shop (although he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to). - OS
