Apparently they don't even rent po boxes with that zip though. I just sorta wanted to know if it got out of town at some point, seems USPS could at least mention that it is a Memphis zipcode. 'Course it never showed as scanned in Knoxville at all. This is USPS lookup utility, btw. - OS

Dems losing mind over new Voter ID laws...

Ah, that's what I wanted to know, thanks. Knew you could get free replacement DL with pic on it if you had one without pic, but see that the non DL state ID is free also. So, no "poll tax" argument in TN. Unless you want to make the extended argument that the hassle of going to get one is "taxing" (which is really IS, at some DMVs at least on certain days). - OS -
One of my mystery packages I sent 3 days ago just showed up: Processed through USPS Sort Facility, December 15, 2011, 8:43 pm, ZIP Code 38199 38199 is NOT a valid zipcode. Looks like it may have been used in Memphis once upon a time, but is no longer valid, even according to USPS. Also, gave a package to my mail lady today, who sorta knows me, asked whether I had come to get a long package that was brought back to station (bought a couple of old fly rods). She had just happened to notice it left there by guy who did her route the other day. I had gotten no notice, either in my mailbox or on door that they had tried to deliver it. And whichever one it is, no clue, since the tracking numbers for both of them are are not showing any progress at all. - OS

This is why Hugo Hussein must go.....

You know, none of these telephone polls include folks who have cell phones only. I don't know what percentage that is, but it's growing every day. Like me. I've often wondered just how much this skews results of any of these polls. - OS -
I bought a used NEF Handi Rifle 'bout year ago in .30-30, barrel looked great, sharp grooves, etc. Mine wasn't all over the place but was consistently 8" low at 50 yards, and couldn't compensate the rear site to fix it (wanted this one to say just iron sighted). I figgered somebody had put a different front site on or something. But it was also doing light strikes, AND one of the reasons I bought it was to also get a .223 barrel for it also. So I called and sent it in, cost me less than $20. I expected them to call me about the barrel cost and maybe charge me for some repair work or whatever too. Lo and behold the gun just shows up, with a list of stuff they did to it long as your arm. It included a new replacement .30-30 barrel, even. So whatever it was, wasn't just the sights. Anyway, they basically rebuilt the whole gun, and didn't charge me a dime! (this all handled by Remington, btw). And yeah, shoots fine. The main bummer though, was that they wouldn't do me a .223 barrel, something about the receiver range of serial numbers which included mine, were contracted out, and for whatever mysterious reason they said they don't fit barrels to those. I also wonder, though, if the stock isn't "stock", because it's very uncomfy to get a cheek weld in position to line up sights. Which is a long winded way of saying, if you determine it really is the gun and have to send it in, maybe they'll make it right for nothing like mine? I was very upfront about it being bought used, with lord knows how many owners before me. - OS

That's strange, have looked at your pic and pix on site at Kahr, and can't quite make out actual screws (I see what looks like one pin which is similar to placement on the PM9) but if you say they're there then I'm sure they are. On the PM9, that's not an access panel, and no screws to open it. It's a "blow out" panel to send force of a catastrophic overload out side before it reaches your hand or face. - OS

Well, it IS law in TN after Jan 1 to show a photo ID (I guess, state issued?) Is this being challenged in the courts? Does DMV charge a fee for the (non DL) state ID? I honestly couldn't find that info on TNDOS site. I know they're giving free photo driver's licenses out to those who have DLs but didn't get the pic. - OS -
Several packages I sent, and several sent to me, over the last two weeks, are not getting scanned either at source or delivery end and two have shown no tracking info at all from pickup through delivery. Either the database has gone wonky or they're just not getting scanned. - OS

Good to know. There is a children/pet warning on the package, though; guess that's just a frivolous litigation cover like most products have to carry anymore. - OS

That is the succinct case for agnosticism. - OS

Wow. You should be well set. Give us impressions when they all arrive; I have an Eskabar and have handled the ZT, so know how nice they are, but quite interested in your take on the Bushlore, as I've read nothing but raves about the newer version with sharpened edge all the way to hilt. - OS

Good first post. Welcome. You show promise. What's ep/mn ? - OS

Really, that or just move! - OS

I'd opt for a large .380. That way you can more easily pummel the bad guy once you've emptied the mag. - OS

They really haven't "made their way north" as commonly thought of. They've been "imported" through the years. All about TN fire ants: Imported Fire Ants in Tennessee - OS

Yes, apparently it is just a matter of different mag release in grip. The fellow I bought mine from had called Beretta about this and they sent him a Sig mag release, for free, which he included in the sale to me (though I don't have a Sig). Bag includes polymer release and two springs and is marked with sharpie "Sig P226". You should probably call Kel-Tech to confirm but seems this is only diff between the Beretta and Sig versions. I guess if you had the Sig version, they'd send you a Beretta release if you wanted to switch to that. - OS edit: see Superman's post above mine, was typing while he posted it.

Erik, borax is the only bad thing in it, would think a pet would have to consume a bunch of it for anything bad to happen. Does have a children/pet warning of course. Not even sure a dog would go for it, but guess it does have some sort of sweet taste to it. Very small amounts used though. Few little squares of cardboard with a drop or two on each will kill a bazillion ants. They take it back to nest and feed it around, basically just dries them up from the inside out is way I understand it. Need to put it on existing ant trail for best effects. If you have to put in on floor where Da Mutt can get at it, you could put it in something he couldn't get his tongue into maybe, like I dunno, tupperware with small holes on each end or something? Oh, just looked at site, looks like they now have a version with little "stations", maybe already protects from pets. I've just always used the small bottle where you put a drop or two on pieces of paper or cardboard. Ace Hardware carries it. Been around since I was a kid, everybody used to use it. Ant Problem? Terro = Ant Control Solutions - OS

If you mean the tiny "sugar ants" that make a trail inside your home, the winner and still champ is Terro. I've eradicated huge kingdoms of them using it -- damn near feel guilty. Fun to watch them all come and chow down, too. - OS

Yeah, they "all" say that. .45 has more knock down power, too. - OS

I have both. Will keep both, really like both. Got the HP couple years ago, because didn't have a handgun that matched a Sub config. Then bought a Beretta 92, so also recently got the Sub in Beretta config (has mag release so that it'll do Sig also, but have no Sigs). Like 'em both. A lot. Mag capacity goes to the Sub of course. They're all sold with only 10 round mags, so they don't have to worry about the states that require that. But whatever Glock, Sig, SW, or Beretta makes will fit. Beretta makes 30 round mags, even have sleeves so that they match up with bottom of mag well nicely, have two of them, very slick indeed. And of course the Sub folds up, fits in briefcase or backpack. 'Course it's not legal to carry around on you in general any more than any other rifle. HP is supposed to be coming out with 15 round mags, I wouldn't mess with the ProMag. All HP mags are pretty flimsy, feedlips often have to be tweaked now and then, 'bout the only reason the HP carbine ever jams. Both have been very reliable for me so far, eat anything. Accuracy seems about the same with slight edge perhaps to the Sub, but that's so far subjective, not empirical. My Sub came with rubber boot add on over the tube, very nice for cheek weld/shock. HP comes with either add on scope rail or full forearm rail, depending on which stock you get (I have original Planet of Apes one). Both are minute of torso from 50 to 125 yards, both are minute of paper plate at 50, and minute of tin can closer in, all with the open sights. Sub has plastic front sight post, which broke in two on mine, just got replacement, but it was still minute of torso just using the two rings with no sight post at all! You have to buy some wacko looking mount for a scope/red dot for the Sub. I think open sights are the way to go with both of them. Both great guns, all in all, probably nod goes to the Sub, but barely. If you already have a pistola that it matches up with, big plus. Then again, if you have a HP C-9, the ten round mags fit in pistol (but the 8 round pistol mags don't work in the carbine). Sub comes apart much easier, no tool at all required. HP will fix anything on any gun for any owner or send free parts, but Kel-Tec has gone to original owner only policy. They are both excellent choices for urban or suburban skirmishes when SHTF . Anything else you want to know? - OS

Well, I wouldn't do that unless I really felt that I physically needed it (heart still racing to point of blowout, dizzy whatever). If I mentally/emotionally didn't feel up to snuff to give a clear account, I'd just do the "wait till I get with a mouthpiece" thing. Certainly don't know for sure how I'd react since I've never shot anyone, but a biker basically committed suicide by FedEx with me about 4 years ago -- got up close and personal with the body to check him out, etc. It was most certainly a disturbing experience, but not traumatic to the point where I never felt in complete control of myself. And even though that's a situation where you figure the family would sue you automatically no matter what, I went ahead and gave a complete statement rather than ask for a personal or Fedex lawyer first. Just told the truth, and wasn't charged, fired, or sued. One thing about telling the truth -- you don't have to remember the details of a lie. - OS
