  1. Ya gotta quit giving credence to something just because it's written on the net. There is no such verbiage as "inside or on federal property" in 18 USC 930 - Sec. 930 (Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities) Says inside a federal facility. A federal facility is defined in the same statute as a building or part thereof... There is nothing in Section 930 that authorizes the federal government to ban dangerous weapons on federal property in general, only in buildings and a federal court (which is described as obviously being inside a building also). - OS
  2. Gun buster sign is not mentioned under the school statute -- the one on the office is what is specified, even minimum size is specified, and is to be displayed around the property in "prominent locations". But you can't carry even if there are no notices, and there is no penalty for the school for not posting them. - OS
  3. Yeah, I used lots of Dexedrine in college, too. Eskatrol was my fav. Speed works! - OS
  4. And you get the best judicial outcome you can afford. - OS
  5. The three things I use the most of the stuff I carry: - magnifying lens - Swiss Tech multi-tool on keychain, mostly the screwdrivers - pocket flashlight (just used it to look at a rifle bore yesterday; often used to see detailed work, sometimes used in conjunction with the magnifier; just held it for a guy to look under a car dash other day, have used it for similar, fuses and whatnot, used it to look at a wonky emergency brake cable recently; often walk after dark, use it to see some little thing in detail, dropped my Sansa once, would never have found it without light, etc etc ). - OS
  6. The undead obviously don't rot like the deaddead, or they wouldn't be ambulatory after a week or so. - OS
  7. What .380s are blow backs? I only know one for sure, the Hi-Point. - OS
  8. There's probably a law that specifies punishment for breaking a rule. It's all very Orwellian/Ayn Randish. - OS
  9. I never understood under what authority the gummit banned guns in national parks. I guess it was just an interior dept. "rule", but not US Code. So all these federal agencies may have "rules" about guns. - OS
  10. Don't get your point. That's "alludes" btw. - OS
  11. Real men don't have fragile macho egos and use Nancy pads. Cheap surplus ammo is main reason most own Mosins, or at least shoot them much. - OS
  12. Don't go inside the store to hand them the card, since that makes you guilty of 1359 violation, and you couldn't claim you didn't see the sign. - OS
  13. I can't conceal one nearly as well as XD subbie. Butt is too big. The pistol's, not mine. Butt is hardest part of gun to hide to discerning eye. - OS
  14. More gray: 1359 says carrying past a sign is punishable by a fine of $500 only. 1352 says your HCP will be suspended or revoked for violation of 1359. - OS
  15. How many times have you NOT read a thread about this? See pfries quote of 39-17-1309. Perhaps the grayest thing about it is whether the gun may be loaded. Since the allowance does not mention HCP, most assume it is intended to be unloaded for everyone but who knows. Btw, the definition of "unloaded" is gray, also, probably really a mistake in verbiage as far as intent: "Unloaded" means the rifle, shotgun or handgun does not have ammunition in the chamber, cylinder, clip or magazine, and no clip or magazine is in the immediate vicinity of the weapon. I'd say it was NOT their intent to ban unloaded magazines in the immediate vicinity of the weapon, yet the gun must be "unloaded" in 39-17-1308 (defense to unlawful carry). Thus, some more gray. - OS
  16. Nope. Butt much shorter for one thing. Kind of voodoo that the 9mm holds 13, actually. - OS
  17. To my knowledge however, federal law can only ban weapons in federal BUILDINGS, not parking lots or other lands, though they could post a TCA compliant sign for parking lot too; but this wouldn't have penal repercussions in most states. I guess there is some additional law about military installations, but have never read it. - OS
  18. Since that was over a year and a half ago, I'd say he's done something about it by now. - OS
  19. Yeah, the more I look at it, more I think it's a bad grind, actually possibly a bad stamp out or something. I might be tempted to swap that back in for another w/ Amazon. Free to do it. - OS
  20. The little BK 13, or Remora, is stainless, maybe you were thinking of that. - OS
  21. Barney Fwank, a prime scoundrel in all this crap, is ducking out scot free. - OS
  22. Yeah, I didn't mean to imply it was only TN state law involved with a federal building (edited my previous post). However, feds can also post property with 1359, to cover property and not just buildings. National vet cemetery in 'Nooga is, for example. - OS
  23. While 1095 Cro-Van offers some rust resistance compared to plain 1095, it is far from a stainless steel. The BK11 (Becker Necker) is also 1095 Cro-Van. Matter of fact all the Becker 1095 is this variety AFAIK, like BK 2, 9, 11, whatever; has it not always been since Ethan cranked back up under Ka-Bar? Matter of fact, the Ka-Bar USMC fighting knife stuff is all 1095 Cro-Van also. No 1095 variant is a stainless steel -- they all will indeed rust, they're not coated in black just for style. Brandon, thanks for report on the Condor. Sounds about right. Fit and finish on any Condor may or may not be just so, but their rep is in making very serviceable and strong knives, not just for the money which is a plus, but period. All three of my big Condors have cosmetic imperfections, but that's become almost part of their charm among aficionados. - OS
  24. "Couple of years back" as in 1986 -- part of federal Firearm Owners Protection Act. But has nothing to do with TN state law as per 1359 or carry in federal buildings, only the interstate transportation of arms. - OS
  25. Well, Camillus itself has been discontinued, as far as the original company. Acme bought the name only, as I understand it. Aren't all the ones now by the "new" Camillus made in China? - OS
