  1. Point is, you can get in on Friday? Do the vendors really set up on Thursday or what? I kinda got the impression that half of them don't even show till Friday afternoon? Who's actually ever been to one on Friday? - OS
  2. Except for the thousands of places you can't. - OS
  3. More likely than who? 90% of the rest of the driving public? Why? If your driving habits make you so likely to get pulled over, then I can only assume you are also statistically more likely not to see 25 than other 24 year olds. - OS
  4. I didn't average every other year all the decades I could have been ticketed or jailed for one thing or the other most ever time I turned on the ignition! - OS
  5. Personally, in all the beau coup traffic stop threads, it just amazes me how often many folks on this forum get the blue lights period. The fact one "typically" has a procedure seems like wow to moi. - OS
  6. I have found life to be a complex pinball machine with relatively minimal control over intent vs outcome. Life is what happens in between making plans. Quite a ride though -- if you're bored it's your own fault. - OS
  7. 3rd parties and independents are not involved in primaries in TN (or any other state AFAIK). Primaries are Rep or Dem only, and you can only vote in one or the other. This is the only thing that makes you a "registered" Dem or Rep in TN, whichever was your last choice in a primary. Some parties don't even select their candidates till after Super Tuesday, such as Libertarian Party. - OS
  8. Well, as for the Libertarian Party, it's not his choice anyway. It will pick its candidate at its own convention in May. Probably Gary Johnson at this point, but that's not set in stone either. - OS
  9. Yeah, been 25 years or more since you could take a single live conch in FL waters. Over-harvesting and pollution. Amazing that the lobster population keeps up with the demand, though there are ever more stringent size and number limits on those too. 'Course a lot of those come from other parts of the Caribbean now, too. Brandon's got it ... I play the dominator role only. Jeez, how twisted ya think I am, anyway? - OS
  10. I have a overarching, comprehensive, and sophisticated defense plan should I ever be accosted about carrying past any sign -- "oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't see it, I'll be going now." - OS
  11. One thing kills me is everywhere advertising conch fritters, conch salad, conch stew, whatever, locals are called Conchs. And you haven't been able to take a conch in the Keys for many years. Another are the tourists who claim there's something wrong with their lobster because there ain't any claws on it. - OS
  12. More on this later, indeed. I doubt seriously that has EVER happened, or WILL ever happen, and if it does, will force a change in TVA "rules". I'm thinking with TVA, as with most federal agencies, it's about time for the states to take control over federal entities in their own states. - OS
  13. I've spent quite a few New Year's Eves there. Wild. The Monroe Sherrif's Dept used to run a van route, take you home anywhere in the 90 mile stretch of the Keys if you could crawl into the van under your own power. Maybe still. - OS
  14. Anymore. Used to be. ###.com came into being as some sort of collaboration with Craigslist, but it's only in parts of 3 or 4 states, so far. - OS
  15. Some is, like the actual dam sites, some is just has some degree of federal jurisdiction, like the lake boundaries. There is no federal statute about carrying on federal lands, only federal buildings. However, a federal agency can post a TN complaint sign to forbid carrying like any other biz. There may be some TVA federal "rules" that apply though, like Dept. of Interior ones used to ban firearms in National Parks. Never seen any cited, though. Who knows who put up the sign OP is referring to and under what guise. Perhaps it is even county "park" land? (in which case it isn't properly posted either). - OS
  16. I've enjoyed briefly shooting two of them. So now I don't need to buy one. - OS
  17. Other states where residents must have a permit to carry have enacted the parking lot law with no constitutional challenges. So I don't see any different obstacles in TN. - OS
  18. Can't carry in "any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose;" - OS
  19. Key West same as rest of Monroe County, which is same as the rest of Florida. Just gayer. - OS
  20. Forms from sales, 20 years. Forms that were denied, 5 years. However, the forms' info are entered into their bound book, which is kept as long as they are in biz, then turned over to BATF. - OS
  21. That link goes to his most current column, has already changed. Here's the permanent one for the Chinese Trade one: China Trade: Myths vs. Reality by Walter E. Williams on Creators.com - A Syndicate Of Talent - OS
  22. Born at Erlanger myself, and spent time at my grandmother's sister's house on Bailey. It's still there, sandwiched between some other buildings on TN Temple "campus". Was just by there the other day, visiting Dad's grave in National Cemetery. I walk around regularly in Knoxville areas from short west to downtown, where some claim it's "dangerous", but I wouldn't even consider the same kind of travel in that area of 'Nooga anymore. - OS
  23. An individual can give or sell a rifle or handgun to any other adult TN resident, as long as he have no reason to suspect they have any prohibitions for owning firearms. No paperwork required. An individual can loan or give, but not sell, a rifle or handgun to a minor for lawful sporting purposes. No paperwork required. - OS
  24. No way you are over-nighting a handgun for ten bucks. - OS
  25. Aww, that guy babied that package. Actually, he's Express, company guy. Ground folks actually handle stuff much better, since they're all contractors, and damage settlements from obvious stuff like this came out of their own pockets. Just leaving a package out in the weather is proof enough. Most of the damage came from the sorting and loading guys at Ground, since they're all temps with no career path, not much accountability. Neer do wells and worse, students. - OS
