  1. IWB? OWB? WTF? I used a Bullard Dual Carry IWB for a time, very comfy: - OS
  2. Good. Glad it seems to have worked out for ya on those. - OS
  3. AFAIK, the only state law about a certain distance is in relation to hunting and that has to do with domiciles, not roads. There may be something in various county ordinances but I've never seen anyone quote one on here. - OS
  4. Bought mine at Academy in 'nooga, which leaves you on your own. Being a handgun, and acceding to UPS service terms, even cheapest overnight having a UPS account was about 22 clams best I remember. Unfortunately, Beretta's policy is an individual must handle shipping, at least on the first trip. On any gun they sell. Had to send to their "service center", a sporting goods store in 'Bama. Called them, and they said they wouldn't even work on it but simply relay up to MD. They did give me a call tag the second time to send straight to MD. - OS
  5. Sigh. Yes, it is. - OS
  6. Not me. They're all about the same. Guess if I were a thief, I'd gravitate to the Turkey Creek one above all the others in the area. One in Halls has the um...funkiest ambiance, IMO. - OS
  7. Yeah, just the high brow stuff. - OS
  8. Mel has done lots of good cinematic work. Really liked Edge of Darkness, as a recent example. Apocalypto is an amazing achievement. I have always tried to separate art from politics, or personal peccadilloes. I even like Jane Fonda -- as an artist. - OS
  9. One of those super duper Walmarts. Has bank, pharmacy, supermarket, and a Best Buy all inside. - OS
  10. My NEOS had to go back twice also (basic black 4.5" model). Had to pay shipping first time, too, even on a new gun, that's one bad thing about Beretta's CS. Mine off and on wouldn't quite reset trigger properly, would often slide off sear or something; release trigger and pull again and would fire. First trip came back with extensive list of all they did to it, including replacing slide: same prob. Second trip came back with notation "adjusted trigger bar" and it's been fine since. Go figger. Mainly grabbed it because of generally positive reports and lower price, but mainly because it comes apart so easily, no tools required. From reading around, jgunner and I in the vast minority, most NEOS owners have no probs. I like the Buck Rogers spacegun look of it. Feels great in my hand. Others have opposite opinions. Biggest downside: trigger sucks compared to Ruger or Browning. Gun may be as accurate as anything made out of the box, but with heavy trigger who knows. No trigger kit available, you'd have to modify it on your own if you can. Biggest upsides: eats absolutely everything, don't think I've ever had a jam or stovepipe with any ammo; easy to disassemble/reassemble, modular design, can swap barrels, grips in nothing flat, rail built into barrels. Inexpensive extra mags. Nifty option: Carbine kit. I've been tempted to get it, go from pistol to carbine and back in couple minutes Downside of nifty option: kit is $250, somewhat more than I paid for the pistol out the door - OS
  11. Common story anymore. Schrade and Camillus for example. - OS
  12. That scatmandodium one I shot at our gathering last Sat was the first airweight .357 I ever shot. One round (but I only loaded one round). I know it's a gun to be carried much and shot little, but you still need to shoot a carry gun enough to have confidence you can score with it. I'm really not sure I'd persevere with that baby, though. - OS
  13. Ach du lieber! They have to be repaired? - OS
  14. Well, hate to sound like I'm hatin on yer blade (I'm not, as I'm quite the aficionado of certain inexpensive brands), but you don't get a real damascus blade for 25 clams, unless ya made some incredible find at a yard sale or something. It's almost certainly a type of etching to make it look damascus-esque. Likely you could fairly easily buff it down past the "damascus". Bottom line though, to me anyway, is simply that a knife bears up to the owner's expectation for whatever uses he chose to buy it. - OS
  15. Nabisco sells a few cookies, too. - OS
  16. transmission was successful
  17. They just sold the name. They can make anything they want out of whatever they want and call in Marbles. Not dissing yer blade, and it may well be more than adequate, but from talking to folks and reading, seems all the steel is 420, 440a stainless, relatively low grade stuff like that. Yours claim to be any particular grade, maybe just says 440? - OS
  18. Marble Arms, which I think was some of the same folks somehow or other, and I guess makes those sights, is still cranking in US. But Marbles knives really aren't anymore. - OS
  19. Can't reply to your PM till you zap some out of your mailbox. - OS
  20. Was a long time American brand, began in 1899, many are worth some real coin to collectors, plenty valuable enough to engender fakes, too. They went bust in 2009, name was bought by whoever and they slapped the Marbles name on mostly Chinese imports. Maybe Taiwan and elsewhere, too? Yours made in PRC? - OS
  21. :D Something good that came out of Massachusetts, btw. - OS
  22. He's an idiot. I'd bet not half the voters bring a registration card. I don't carry it, and haven't used it to vote in year. Good percentage of folks probably couldn't even locate it. So it'd actually be MORE of a "hurdle" since so many would have to get another one. If that were a requirement, the already low voting numbers would be reduced even more -- very small % of folks don't have a photo ID. VERY small. - OS
  23. Hey, I said kill them, not harvest them. Seriously, did that one summer for Hiwassee Land Company. But still, you saw me splitting wood with my mighty $10 CTD knife ... think what I can do with chainsaw and axe! But it would take some real coin to draw me out of retirement. - OS
  24. No, sounds to me like you had very reasonable assessment of the guy's intentions. No way to really know, maybe he had panhandling in mind from someone he knew had cash, but just as reasonable to think he might have gone full tilt boogie with a weapon on ya too. - OS
  25. Lemme know if you want any hardwood stands killed! (see my illustrious resume one post up). - OS
