I appreciate your letting me have the brass, whippersnapper. - OS

One of mine came with a flush 5 round mag, if you don't want to freak the natives. - OS

For BATF regulations as for ownership, transfer and shipping, yes. A revolver frame, a semi-auto or pump or lever or bolt etc. receiver: yes THIS is a firearm, for example: It must transfer to you through an FFL if bought from retailer. Must have 4473 paperwork before you may have it in hand. This is NOT a firearm: It can be shipped directly to you from retailer, or walk out of the local store with it, no paperwork required. - OS

I say buy all the guns you want, in the practical order that you are able to acquire them. If you buy the .22, at least you'll be able to shoot cheaply while you save up for what you can't even legally yet own. - OS

Yeah, for me, one of the main attractions to Mini14 is that it indeed does look like a conventional rifle. After all, it's named for the M14 battle rifle, on which it is based. - OS

No prob. Ultimately, serial number is not even a determining factor on receiver/frame. Serial numbers on firearms were not even required before 1968 and there are plenty of older ones that don't have one at all, but the receiver/frame is nonetheless a "firearm". - OS
-
You are wrong, in the sense that functionality doesn't enter the equation -- an "inoperable" receiver or revolver frame is a "firearm" and must be treated the same as an entire functioning firearm. - OS
-
The receiver (or frame, in case of revolvers) is the firearm. Barrels, slides, and whatnot may also have serial numbers on them (XDs have matching serial numbers on all three components, for example), but they are not "firearms", and may be sent to anyone, intrastate or interstate, by USPS, UPS, or FedEx. Ground or express. Otherwise you couldn't buy all that nifty stuff online for your guns, eh? - OS

loaded gun in glove box with no CCW?
Oh Shoot replied to JoeJ615's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Nothing in the statutes about being in plain view. Indeed that's one stupid way of carrying it. Like FallGuy says, permit or not, you really want a cop to see a gun on the seat as very first thing in your interaction with him? Yikes. - OS -
Here's a standard tacticool option straight from Ruger: Other 3rd party stocks exist, too. Butler Creek makes a folding stock w/grip for it: - OS

I often sing the praises of SRM and other of the PRC makers, much to the wrath of the "buy US only or you're not a patriot" folks. The classic in the SRM line to me is the 710 -- sadly, they seem to have discontinued the solid silver version and only offer the black now. In general though, I prefer the offerings from Enlan/Bee and Navy, as they make more in the 3.5 to 3.8" range, bigger overall knives in general. I've not used Exduct, but they are really the only commercial source I know of, and never seen anyone have probs with them. I have maybe 15 from the above makers, and done them all off eBay. A couple of vendors on there, if you get multiples, the shipping comes down to about the same as Exduct. Takes about 2-2.5 weeks from any of the sources. I think you'll see their reps grow under their own names -- after all, these are the same companies that have made any number of the PRC offerings from the big US based production knife companies. A good long sampling of the various products lines (along with the same ole "buy US or die" debate): http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/866583-SRM-Bee-Enlan-Navy-and-knives-Fan-post - OS

It's same as Compound on top, thicker than Clash. But all three are hollow ground, so they lose much of that thickness quickly on way to the edge. At any rate though, these are all quite the value methinks. The Oso Sweet is another PRC value in the line, but the grip is just a bit too short for my taste in proportion to the blade length, though many like it fine. Above them all though, I chose the Tremor for daily carry for now. - OS

Oh course it's not intended for brute strength tip usage. On the other hand, no knife is intended to substitute for a pry bar, especially with lateral force. You can break the tip off a $100 blade about as easily as a $25 one. All else being equal, high carbon tool steel will be less brittle than stainless, though. - OS

Nice roundup. One correction: 10+1 stock mag - OS

T& T had some of those at the show today, I held it, but if I looked at the price, it didn't stick in the gray matter. Really leapt out at me as I looked over that section of table. Very nice. - OS

Clash is another of the impressive PRC Kershaws, sort of poor man's ZT 0350 in overall size and blade shape. I have the black bladed one. I also VERY much like the Compound. And if you favor a really pointed blade, the Asset is a winner. All three allow tip up or tip down clip, but all right handed only. - OS

Hell, yeah, with that stock, hardly worth hitting the range with only 400 rounds. - OS

Best I remember, he was there for a month or so, and returned, and that was long ago. Seemed like he posted from there once, too. I PM'd him some time back, nada, asked a couple of mods, etc, didn't know. Have his phone, been thinking I might buzz him, but don't really know him well personally to bug him, have talked on the phone a time or two is all. He's got some good personal friends on here, though. - OS

Clip point is most traditional blade shape there is. At any rate, there is no blade shape that is illegal in TN, only the length of it. - OS

Yeah, there were a couple or three extra rows on the left side as you entered, they went a little farther into the next meeting area. Was really mobbed when we left about 1; can't imagine that same crowd inside Jacobs, mainly why I've quit going over there. I think the crowd may be indicative of a coming surge in demand; prices may have been a little bumped overall too, at least on new guns, but didn't do empirical study on them or anything. - OS

Never been to any in middle/west TN, but I've been told by more than one that the Knox shows are about as big as any in the state. The Expo is much better than the fairgrounds venue - more room, better lit, cells phones work, etc. Takes a couple of hours to get around whole thing without much fondling or talking time involved either. This will save ya $2, pay for your gas, right? Love to meetcha, maybe we'll run into each other. Page source: http://www.cjlenterprize.com (toward bottom) - OS
