Everybody tells me how important it is to vote....
Oh Shoot replied to gregintenn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, at least you're upfront about hurrying The Downfall along. But in doing so, I'd suggest you man up and go ahead and vote for Obama to even further accelerate that process. More likely, you can merely hope to wear your chosen chains as lightly as possible as they tighten over time in the wake of his legacy. - OS -

If you see Romney in the same ballpark as Obama, even in the same zipcode of the ballpark, you just haven't paid attention to detail over the last 3.3 years. Hell, there aren't but a handful of Dems period on the entire Hill in O's rarefied league of rigid ideology. I think even FDR would be appalled -- though his legacy is as responsible for much of the fiscal birds of prey finally coming home to roost as one man's can be, his Big Daddy Government was a desperate response to The Great Depression, not as a vision of some New World Order. - OS -

I think I'll repost my Mitt Defense now and then. Think about it. ----------------------------------- Romney will try to run the place like a biz. He's not an ideologue, has no overwhelming agenda of just "how' things should be in some sort of utopian destruct and rebuild -- he'll be pragmatic enough to try to make things work. He cares about America and its traditional greatness, and certainly does not want to change 236 years of our history into some theoretical new construct that simply steals income tax money from the (barely) 50% paying it to the other half that don't while those with an in make extra money from that same pool. Also, though all presidents must be ego maniacal to a certain degree, he'll look like a humble sequestered monk compared to Obama and his over-exalted sense that history will show him to be The Visionary Savior Propelling Us Into The New World EveryDamnThing. Gun rights won't even be on his radar one way or the other; if anything arises, he'll just accede to a (hopefully) GOP majority in both chambers. Perhaps most importantly, his choices for the Supremes will absolutely not change us into a further Amerika over the next 50 years as would Obama's. Romney's main criticism as a "flip flopper" may actually prove to be quite a strength in this crazy world of fast changing priorities -- he won't pursue failing options, but will change to meet realistic changing circumstances, just like a successful CEO. Much like the now Conservative God Ronald Reagan -- let us not forget he was quite the liberal Democrat into the mid 50's. Also, Mitt doesn't care if he makes another single buck the rest of his life, and will demur from trying to write his own history books as he goes along. ------------ - OS -
You forget the majority he'll leave on the Supreme Court. Decades of that will be his true legacy. - OS

I don't need inspiring. Obama is inspiring, that's his draw. Hope and change. I'll take bland and steadfast traditional Americanism, thanks. - OS

Yep, but it wasn't because his ratings suffered. - OS

Just found one on my inner thigh, nice and locked in, and I'm mostly a townie. Probably got it at shooting range or maybe a weedy short cut I take on walks. - OS

Bushmaster was bought by Freedom Group some years ago, they shut down original plant in Windham, ME couple years ago, moved production to Ilion, NY in with Remington's complex there. New company is called Windham because last owner/CEO of BM, Richard Dyke, has cranked up production in the original plant there, which he still actually owned; had been leasing it to BM after he left. He had a five year non-compete settlement when he left BM, and is just recently now able to do so. - Os
-
I'm seeing as many or more claims in forums that they are above BM's quality, so I dunno. Of course, their website basically asserts that too. Interesting thread with a Windham employee involved: http://forums.1911fo...ad.php?t=343485 They state lifetime transferable warranty, too. 'Course, the company has to still be around to honor it I reckon. - OS

Perhaps the most naturally gifted golf swing in history. If he hadn't had to deal with lifelong squirrely back, he might have blown Jack's records away before Tiger even got started. He's had to face his demons in real life too; he's actually much deeper and more heartfelt than the famous lackadaisical appearance. - OS

We all hope it stays a toy, and not a tool. But if tool it be, a damn fine one! - OS

Ole Mikey can really turn a phrase, eh? - OS

Yeah, don't get carried away though... Golf is not a matter of life or death -- it's more important than that. - OS

Please dear God if there's any magic left in this poor world let Freddie win at 52. What a story. Would almost make up for Rocco's heartbreaking US Open loss couple years ago. Freddie was so close a couple of years ago too. If he does, I'll buy a pair of those wacko shoes if I play again, and wear them without socks, just like he does! - OS

Is it legal to carry into a liquor store?

Ah, thanks once again to our resident documentarian! - OS -
What's the general take on the Windham model at Wally's? Reading around on the web and looking at their site, seems they may be a good cut above what Bushmaster has become, but of course they haven't been out there long enough to have a really fair overall evaluation? I do like the idea in general of a former owner rounding up original employees and even restoring original plant after a corporate takeover. - OS

Well, Haslam was trying to stop the parking lot bill, however you'd like to define it. And with plenty of help, he did. - OS -
Is it legal to carry into a liquor store?
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Mike there used to be same type sign in liquor stores, beer outlets, and both beer only and liquor bars, because it was a state law that you couldn't carry anywhere booze was sold, for onsite or off site consumption. Though the HCP negated it, it was a separate offense from simply going armed for those without a permit, predated the HCP process, and that law was only repealed along with the final version of "bar carry" law revision a couple years ago. Matter of fact, when HCP was first issued it was still an offense to carry anywhere it was sold even for permit holders, but that got changed to okay for off site consumption outlets only, which was the way it stayed until the "bar carry" change. The state statute mandated the signage, so really didn't have anything to do with ABC or beer boards rules. Even though the state doesn't license beer stuff, the law applied in beer only selling points of both on and off site consumption. The ABC though, is the agency that had some reps keep erroneously insisting the signage had to stay. Point is, NObody has to post such a sign anymore under any agency's jurisdiction, because there's no longer any law against doing it. - OS -

Many many threads about this. They did away with it 2 years ago, did away with whole statute regarding both the crime AND the posting, but some ABC guys were still telling stores it had to be posted. They had verbiage like this: Last time I noticed, the Walgreens on Cumberland has one on front door to this day. - OS
