Well, even if it's "you", seems your fault is plenty consistent enough to go ahead and bump that rear sight over to the left a scooch! - OS

You're right about the long gun and felony class, but you're not reading the handgun part correctly. Under TCA can't possess a handgun if convicted of ANY felony. However, I've often wondered about this compared to federal law, where it is unlawful for anyone "under indictment for, or has been convicted in any court of, a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year" to possess any firearm (also for a conviction of domestic violence). Isn't TN actually negating Federal law in this regard? - OS

??? The primary (maybe only?) snipe in the US is the Wilson's Snipe, and seems to be a New World only species? - OS

Federal crimes are not all felonies. For example, illegal immigration is a federal misdemeanor but returning after a deportation is a felony. Not that either is ever enforced, of course. - OS

Well, news to me thanks -- I'll grab some if I ever see 'em...would like to have a few metal ones. - OS

Knox gun show surplus vendors have used ones from $5-10. Bill's Outpost had new C Products USGI ones last time I was there, $12 I think. Kinda gets iffy about what's worth what, when you can get Pmags for just about that on sale. Also, I really like 20 rounders better, and only ones decent ones I've found are Pmag and Thermold. AFAIK never been a US contract 20 rounder? - OS

I don't recommend eating even ONE may apple, but to at least see one, maybe you've been looking too early? Flower is in May around here, actual fruit is maybe just now in place, maybe still not fully formed, can't remember exact time of summer. I really don't know if various wildlife eats them or not, I've seen whole groves in less dense parts of forests with fully formed "apples" off and on my whole life (they aren't red btw, just stay green AFAIK). Have seen plenty where I used to live right around side of the mountain from you all, too, just can't remember exactly what time of summer. Never have identified and eaten a paw paw, but have eaten lots of persimmons, a real treat in the limited time they are perfectly ripe (late August around here, I think?) - OS

Also, federal buildings are to be posted, and if not, law says you are exempt from prosecution. Social Security building in Knoxville was not posted for example, the one time I've been there. - OS

Surely you've advertized for Motorola long enough now too?

Doh, yeah, obvious now that I re-read and thunk at same time. Thnx... - OS

No, not remotely the same. AR's have a "slide" (bolt) release/lock. Forward assist is a separate gizmo that allows you to (maybe) force a round in that wouldn't chamber normally. Plunger type assembly in this pic: - OS

Yep. Agree totally, it's my mainstay. - OS

Well, there's a helluva diff in hunting for snipe or taking someone on a snipe hunt, that's for sure. - OS

??? The thumbprints weren't transmitted, just kept on file with the 4473. It wasn't even a federal thing, just TN thing. - OS

My God. Don't. Nobody eats may apples. They used to be used as medicine in small doses, but they're poisonous in large ones. - OS

UncleJak's thought provoking question of the day
Oh Shoot replied to UncleJak's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Me either. Politicians and presidents routinely operate so far beyond the Constitution that it has become only a document to bandy for political advantage with the 50% of those who even vote. The citizenry has passed the tipping point of being ransomed with its own money, and worse, half or so has little or no skin in the Republic at all -- and the concepts of personal liberty and individual responsibility are now espoused only by an antiquated minority. This is the only reason this coming election could even be close, after BHO's absolutely stunning record ranging from incompetence to outright criminality. And it's sad that had not most everyone's individual wallet been diminished, the GOP wouldn't even be in the running. - OS -
Yeah, I actually did know it wasn't there for finger. But it DOES work quite well, long as you're quick so ya don't get burned on hot bolt I guess. I just can't see the real world wisdom in trying to cram a round in with as much force as smacking a forward assist allows. It ain't going in for a reason -- racking another one seems more logical than using brute force. I mean, semi-auto handgun drill is tap-rack-bang, not smack-bang (maybe)-stuck. - OS

Not that mine will see any sandbox type battle duty (I hope) to test lack of dust cover, but after having it for a while and cleaning it several times, think I'll just not clean it and keep a running count to see how long it'll run before it needs a forward assist or something to keep running. 'Course, it has the finger indent in bolt, can always press that, and not sure I'd want to be any firmer than that in any regards. Probably not fair to mix steel and brass all the time either though ... I've got more steel than anything else, will maybe just shoot that at least for a good while and see at what point it fails, empty cart gets stuck, whatever. So far since last cleaning: 100 rounds - OS

The very biggest and best blackberry areas also always have chiggers. - OS

Yeah, they don't mention in their TOS that they allow licensee to licensee flexibility with that, but they do. Especially from large account holders. Also, not everybody knows, but UPS and FedEx bid big accounts against each other; not every company pays the same rate by a long shot, and of course individuals pay the highest. - OS

TGSCOM ran a bunch of gun product websites, not just the couple mentioned in the article. Ordered a couple different things from a couple of them over the years, always something flaky happened with order, though I did get the stuff eventually. Last one was MidWestHuntersOutlet.com, order never showed shipped, nobody would answer phone, but stuff showed up after about 10 days. You'd never know TGSCOM had anything to do with any of these sites until you went to checkout, or checked domain registry. The fact that some folks who later turned into criminals bought stuff from them is totally non-sequitur. The real story is simply the long term sub-par biz practices. - OS

I'd expect a lot from any million dollar rifle! I also have a Sport -- I have no more accurate rifle, nary a hiccup on everything I've fed it. Added quick release cheapo scope and Dolomite's trigger job. Other than that I intend to keep it just as basic as it is. Really, no kidding, seriously. - OS
