  1. Dogs are chasing cats as usual down in 'Nooga. But they're all walking. - OS
  2. Yeah, that works fine, other tweaks do too, but kind of a pain to edit, if you're pasting a long doc that's full of them - OS
  3. yeah, a "b" in parenthesis = ( a "c" in parenthesis = © Irritating "feature", especially when pasting legal stuff...
  4. It prohibits all firearms for felony involving the use or attempted use of force, violence or a deadly weapon, and felony drug offense It prohibits handguns for any felony Thus, TN does not prohibit long guns for felonies other than the ones listed. Federal law prohibits all firearms for all felonies, and that's the difference on which I was commenting. So an embezzler, or G. Gordon Liddy, could legally possess long guns under TN law, but still be guilty of another felony under federal law. - OS
  5. Skyline is helluva knife. Simple but sleek and elegant design, light, functional, good Sandvik. Kershaw really got it all right with this one. - OS
  6. The sculpted micarta grip is marvelous, allows full grip with wonderful feel. Blade is beveled all over the place, very unusual, Sanvik takes amazing edge. Not a good one to pound on from the top to baton though, it's beveled there too. Here's a video shows it all: - OS
  7. Wow, haven't seen that Rambler, that looks really nice indeed. Gnome doesn't grab me, 'cause I don't think I could grab it! I got a Boker Mosier a good while ago, intended it to be my forever necker (like several others I tried) and it almost was, but it's just too heavy overall, just never could quite get used to it.. Damn shame. But such a nice knife I haven't been able to let go of it yet (like about 100 others). The Boker Pocket Bowie is really nice too: But I found it also just a bit too small. Did I mention I've tried a bunch of neck knives? - OS
  8. Doh. What was yer name again, sonny?
  9. Slipped right under the radar today, seems, between Obamacare and Holder being held in contempt. SCOTUS struck down the Stolen Valor Act. http://www.cbsnews.c...olen-valor-law/ http://www.latimes.c...0,4032290.story etc
  10. Commentators today talking about since the "reconciliation" thing was used to pass the final version of it, would only take the same ploy to repeal it, or at least remove all fiscal details from it, essentially rendering it a toothless shark. As little as I understand all that, budgetary bills passed by reconciliation process only take 51 votes. - OS
  11. I have both the Wharncliffe and Bowie Minimalists...great little blades (with the emphasis on little) ... they are really like thick razors more than knives. Great for light utility work, desperation self defense if can get to eye/neck etc, but not long and/or robust enough for general daily utility use IMO. Would be a pain to cut down bunch of cardboard with, etc. for example. But helluva nice design, good grip in fingers. Little pinkie stabilizer braided tassel came off my Bowie in a week, doesn't have place big enough to use para cord or anything to replace, no biggie though. Good sheath, holds nicely, easy deploy; you surely don't even notice the thing, it's so light. - OS
  12. 18 U.S.C. § 922 : US Code - Section 922: Unlawful acts (a) It shall be unlawful - (3) for any person, other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector to transport into or receive in the State where he resides (or if the person is a corporation or other business entity, the State where it maintains a place of business) any firearm purchased or otherwise obtained by such person outside that State, except that this paragraph (A) shall not preclude any person who lawfully acquires a firearm by bequest or intestate succession in a State other than his State of residence from transporting the firearm into or receiving it in that State, if it is lawful for such person to purchase or possess such firearm in that State, (bee) shall not apply to the transportation or receipt of a firearm obtained in conformity with subsection (bee) (3) of this section, and (cee) shall not apply to the transportation of any firearm acquired in any State prior to the effective date of this chapter; * (bee)(3) allows purchase of long gun from out of state FFL, and loan/rental of firearms So it basically comes down to fact that a handgun can not be legally received for ownership by individual in any state but his own, except via inheritance. - OS
  13. Well, it mainly shows that elections have consequences. The opposite of the "makes no diff who's in office" sentiment. ObamaCare was passed with a duly elected majority of House and Senate supporting it. The People sent those reps and senators there, and theoretically, they did the will of their constituencies. As far as Roberts, part of his philosophy is to find a way to allow the will of the people to prevail through finding a way to allow laws coming from the Hill to constitutionally prevail if at all possible. It is very likely that had ObamaCare been passed with the "individual mandate" defined as a "tax" instead of "penalty", the SCOTUS would never have even heard it. The one thing that folks are underestimating is the Medicaid part that was thrown out: it is going to have some very decisive effects on the states and consequently back on the feds as the states react and don't or simply can not comply. At any rate, I'll say it again: ObamaCare passed under the 111th Congress. It would not have passed under the 112th. Whether the US eventually becomes a failed state under either party is an extended debate. However, in real time, elections have consequences. And though it's a different tack on the topic, the decision today may in an ironic way be quite the boon for the GOP this Nov. ObamaCare alone was certainly a big reason the GOP made historic gains in Congress in the midterm elections, so we'll see. - OS
  14. Though I don't dig serrated versions, there's no doubt they provide tremendous sawing/ripping power through some materials for those who need that regularly. I'd be very surprised if you don't find this puppy a real pleasure to use. Btw, with just very little practice, even with pivot adjusted so there's zero horiz play, it will open with a flip of the thumb about as quickly as an assisted opener, just put thumbnail on stud like you were shooting a marble, maybe add a tad of wrist movement depending on technique. - OS
  15. $22 including shipping is pretty close: http://www.amazon.com/Kershaw-Compound-Folding-Lock-Knife/dp/B004SGXARW/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1340902153&sr=1-1&keywords=kershaw+compound Agree about serrated knives in general. What's strange marketing wise is that companies keep making a serrated option for some model, then a year or two later those always glut the market and are cheaper than plain edge, because they simply didn't sell. - OS
  16. NM, not worth it at all.
  17. The phrase is absolutely and perfectly descriptive of your responses. Even Will Rogers would have changed his opinion. - OS
  18. Yeah, the Get High and Eat Dog platform. Worked for BHO, good point. - OS
  19. Well, I used to smoke weed, and I've eaten a chihuahua. But it was cooked first. - OS
  20. No, I got it about a year ago, saw where it had ceased production, and grabbed another just to stash. Still available here and there though. Unfortunately Google shows more shopping results than Bing. Pretty sure I bought both of mine here; http://www.bladehq.c...n=Bing Shopping Sheath was "okay" but had better one made by Al Welke for about $40, sent him the knife. - OS
  21. Might like it, want to keep riding. Old joke: Feller can't break dog from peeing on carpet. Friend says, next time that happens, throw him out the window, he'll catch on. Sees friend in a couple of weeks, asks about the dog prob: owner says, oh works great -- now he pees on the carpet and then jumps out the window! - OS
  22. Yep, I'm sure I'm like many millions of other users, when I want to know the average/best price on a firearm (or probably more often, a knife) I generally always just hit Google Shopping first to get an idea. - OS
  23. Take it from a feller who used to have a Physicians Desk Reference as standard issue back in the day, today's bathtub meth is a far cry from pharmaceutical forms of methamphetamine, like Desoxyn and others I can't remember. Also, just like some concoctions of dextroamphetimine, biphetamine, benzodrine, etc, it was put out combined with an ameliorating trank to "take the edge off" to some extent, and generally prevent all out psychosis (at least if not used more than 48 hours straight!) Anyway, like bathtub gin, this made-in-the-backseat meth is truly rough stuff, and half the damage it causes is in all the ungodly byproducts left in the stuff. Thing is, the cheap meth is so popular precisely because it is so cheap, and can be made by about any idiot who doesn't blow himself up in the process. The other amphetamines can't be made with same crude level of tech. Matter of fact, can't think of any other major recreational drug class that can be even crudely approximated on such a cheap down and dirty level, not cannabis, opiates, other types of "speed", etc. Can freebase/make crack from cocaine fairly easily of course, but base product remains pricey. - OS
  24. I'll not reciprocate with the ad hominem denigration, but will mention that any number of illegals have SSN's and both CAN and DO pay income taxes, if that is the only test. And of course they do pay any number of other types of taxes, too, and since you said only "can pay taxes", that should also qualify. Though as Crimson posits, you must actually believe that illegal aliens have no inalienable rights at all; in which case it should be perfectly legal to just shoot them, eh? - OS
  25. Maybe it rose to "terroristical", even. Certainly well beyond mere ho-hum terrorist. - OS
