  1. The odds of that happening in your presence are so astronomical it's not worth even considering. Work on your spelling instead. Seriously, 911 is almost always the best answer if it's not involving you or yours. - OS
  2. Not much. From Beretta: "The commercial M9 pistol is the closest replica to the military M9 that a civilian may legally own. What sets it apart from the 92FS is: A. Distinctive military style markings: on various components closely replicate those of the U. S. Armed Forces M9 pistols. B. Unique M9-prefixed serial number: (M9-xxxxxx) sets this configuration apart from the other 92 series pistols. C. “Dot-and-Post†sight system: clones that of the M9." - OS
  3. I have Marlin 1894c. A rather miraculous find at Walmart about 3 years ago, $485. Perhaps my favorite rifle of all: - OS
  4. Yeah, my original took almost the 90 and looks like the renewal is going to also. - OS
  5. WND and the like will rot your brain. This speaks more to the facts. But the facts are complicated, so of course the loon version is easier to believe: http://www.factcheck...sland-giveaway/ - OS edit: great minds and all, Garufa
  6. One of the things I miss the most. Used to play .50 skins with all the junk in the world added. Birdies, sandies, barkies, .greenies, .5 skin for GIR, couple extra for low score on each side, and total, long putt-off to settle ties at end. Score card looked like hieroglyphics. Loved it. - OS
  7. dang dang double tap
  8. I have periodically been one of those who feel that "golf is not a matter of life and death -- it's much more important than that". Have let it go over the last 5-6 years or so though -- mostly due to not being able to play during the week and too tired to on weekends in last gig, and long time circle of golfing buddies dispersing over same period. Might could be induced to smack 'em around again some, though. When I got zapped from UT in '97, ran my own biz out of home for next 5 years or so; could never take actual vacation then, but could slip off for four hours at a time on a moment's notice, so played beau coup. Got down to a seven, best I've ever been. Which is pretty good for one of the worst putters in the state, if not wider. - OS
  9. Fact that in my lifetime TN went for Carter and twice for Clinton has always shown the possibility. And Gore lost by less than 4%. Worst things get, the bigger the Dem vote from the have nots, too; that's the scariest thing about big gummit big daddy failure: it's more self perpetuating than overall moderate success. - OS
  10. So that's Charlie Jr.?
  11. oops, how dat happen?
  12. 112° out there vs 90°/70% humidity and higher here is real tossup though. - OS
  13. Plenty of precedent for ignoring 2A on same level as other of our "rights". It is infringed by federal government: you can't own certain types of firearms without paying tax, can't personally sell or buy across state lines, can't carry weapons in the very public buildings "you" own, etc. It's also infringed in every state of the union, just a matter of degree as to how flagrantly. Unlike other of the Bill of Rights which have been given full incorporation and thus binding on the individual states, 2A merely gets a bit of periodic selective lip service by the federal justice system. And reluctant at that -- takes the tooth pulling of full SCOTUS action, and 5-4 squeakers too, ala Heller and McDonald. - OS
  14. I didn't suggest that the terminated employee couldn't get unemployment if no reason is given. Most people are simply fired for incompetence, yet whether that is specified or not, incompetence is not a reason to deny unemployment either. Then you should well know that the EEOC only has power regarding discrimination (and whistle blowers) regarding the federally protected classes, which I stated as an exception. If you actually work in HR in some form, it's surprising you mention Right to Work -- this little side topic has nothing to do with that whatsoever, but rather, At Will Employment. Without a very specific contract to the contrary, union agreement, or discrimination as previously mentioned, this is the principle that determines employment in TN. - OS
  15. What are the two arrowhead looking blades over on the right? - OS
  16. Yah, I've seen it in past actually, I saw most of Dave's run before he went mental, or whatever it was... - OS
  17. Woods is no more black than Obama. Though Barack is more white than Tiger. Now, all whites are a race, but we're not all the same ethnicity either. I think we need additional check boxes, like Northerner/Southerner, etc. - OS
  18. Curse you for that vision, D. - OS
  19. Guess I should have said, "not a pocket gun for me". I and many other folks just won't carry over a Kahr PM size, and that's in cargoes. Some people pocket a G26 even. If it works for ya, goodie. - OS
  20. Great little pistola, but I don't quite get it. It's an inbetweener: only single stack but not as small as Kahr PM/CM, only one more round. It's not a pocket gun. There are many in the same size/thickness single stack category, especially in 9mm. So since ya need IWB/OWB, just a tad larger and thicker and heavier and you get in range of 10+1 Glock26 or 13+1 XD Subbie and beau coup other choices. So it doesn't fit a niche for me at all. - OS
  21. Yes, that's in a definition of "unloaded". Whether it was syntax blunder or intended, it is indeed there. Never heard of anyone charged with "loaded gun" because of it though; several LEOs on site weren't aware of it, which I expect is the case statewide, that they are not even instructed that it is part of the law to be enforced. - OS
  22. Yes, absolutely. Otherwise, unloaded, with ammo well separated from proximity of firearm. - OS
  23. Just a personal note, FWIW -- have shot the Shield and held and dry fired the Nano. Nano trigger absolutely sucks by comparison. Actually, it sucks all by itself. - OS
  24. Seems a bit harsh on the satire ... even if it is accurate. But I can tell you that I'm closer to your POV than you think -- unlike you, though, if BHO is reelected I'll probably go full tilt boogie apathetic. As tough as it will be for an old news junkie (ie "contemporary historian"), I may well have to just absolutely tune out. Just don't think I can stand the day to day national degradation any more. Might do the same with Mitt too; he's about as imperfect a set of attributes I can imagine as a GOP nominee; but at least I'll be able to tune in for a few years to reserve judgement. I actually have a strange feeling he may turn out to be as effective a prez as we've had in a long while. But only if elected. But hey, if America wants BHO, America gets BHO. May we wear our many new chains lightly. - OS
  25. For what it's worth, I've seen about 5 more election cycles that you, and really DO believe that this one is unique in my life. It may well be too late anyway, but if not, 4 more years of Obama and whatever legacy continues after that will seal it for both your own progeny and the extended posterity. Certainly, Mitt is by far an imperfect standard bearer, but what's unprincipled with supporting him over what may for all practical purposes be the frigging AntiChrist? You DO have "skin" in this game, and the stakes are very real for them. - OS
