  1. 250k, they could call me anything they like. Hell, people already do. Bigot, even.
  2. I thought that's more Obama's cut off for middle class, isn't it? No tax increase for anyone 250k or less?
  3. Can only speak for the weapons laws in TCA, but they only state you must show a HCP if asked, doesn't mention having to volunteer that you have a gun, and so as Garufa says, there is indeed no "must inform" law. Cop was wrong on that, for sure. This usually comes up, though, under claim that you're not supposed to disobey a lawful order, and I guess that order is to tell 'em the truth, if they ask if you have a gun. Seems the debate always revolves on whether it's a lawful order to ask if you have a gun, which cops routinely do on many traffic stops. Which is a long winded way of saying "I don't know" about that part. You're welcome. - OS
  4. Don't see why not. Although UltraMax has kaboomed some guns, including one by our own MusicMan ! Maybe best to stick with Georgia Arms, HSM, and similar. - OS
  5. Here's pulling for complete recovery, coach! - OS
  6. Surely there are fellatio safety instruction videos these days by third grade? - OS
  7. Ah yes, the killer compass sent thousands to their demise back when, good thing they nixed that. Ya know, I've only really started to feel truly old and tired in the last couple of years ... but it has little to do with my chronological age (of 106 ) -- but has everything to do with what this country has become. Progressive and PC and socialist etc is all destruction enough, but phasing in future generations as wussy pantywaists is just too much, it's just the final insult to the American can-do ethos, and it's wearing me down fast. - OS
  8. Howdy, welcome aboard. If you haven't included them in your research, you can't do much better for state by state and nationwide info re carry laws, permits, may issue vs shall issue, etc than: http://www.handgunlaw.us and for open carry more specifically: http://www.opencarry.org http://opencarry.org/maps.html is good starting place there They also have a state by state forum like this one, most just not as active, but still extensive. both sites are kept quite up to date, in some cases even better than the individual states government sites themselves, and all the pertinent info is there as map overviews, or individual state PDFs (click on the state in overview map). best, - OS
  9. An assortment of dry/wet flies, poppers/ants/spiders, streamers will feed you 8 months out of the year on 'bout any body of water in the state. And you still have 7/8 of your cigar box free. You can use 'em with clear bubble on spinning rod if you don't fish a fly rod. Fill up another third of it will various plastic worms/tubes. Another third with all the terminal tackle, bait hooks, sinkers, small bobbers, jig/tube lead heads, weedless hook rigs, etc. Fill up the mostly remaining third with fav "hard" lures, jigs, spinners, spoons, plugs. Don't forget yer fillet knife, carried separately. - OS
  10. It already happened, and Ben Bernanke did it. Keep your eye on the incredible shrinking US dollar. - OS
  11. Yup. The hardware store was the garden of all earthly delights. Mumbly peg, called root the peg where I grew up, cause you had to root the stick out of the ground with your teeth. All the boys had their fav knives for all the tricks, a few girls too. What were we when that started, I guess 9 years old? I remember doing it on the school yard. Marbles and root the peg. Hell, you probably can't even have marbles in school now, throwing and swallowing hazard or some sh-t. - OS
  12. My retirement income went down from comfy to yikes in the last four years. So now just today, Bernanke starts pumping $40billion more funny money per month into "the economy". Which ironically only benefits the artificially valued stock market, you know, those nasty Wall Street evil bastards that BHO hates. Inflation started instantly with crude jumping up. Reflects in almost instant jump in food prices too. Not to mention the delayed hit from the drought still to come. Of course, food and fuel don't count in the government inflation index. I try to explain that to my stupid wallet. Interest rates will stay pegged out low, which screws old farts like me -- or I could throw the stash into the phoney baloney market bubble where it will undoubtedly be vaporized at some point. Of course the low interest rates benefits home buyers, the few that don't have to borrow any money, 'cause the banks ain't lending to much of anyone who needs it. And Obama is widening his lead. Things are just swell. - OS
  13. Conceal away, TN permit is good there. - OS
  14. This is type I'm thinking of, but can't remember the name of the one that several TGOers have bought and swear by. This one is actually called The Sticky Holster.
  15. I'm old enough to have used real McCoy cherry bombs and M-80s, too. The kind that would blow up toilets and gutters, all kinds of neat stuff. - OS
  16. Maybe one of those models that stick to yer butt some on here have bought. - OS
  17. Mea culpa, really,. That's a new wrinkle in thread, what is this endeavor? - OS
  18. I got one, but only put on a quick release cheap 3-9 scope and a short rail into existing forend for bipod and called it good. - OS
  19. Yes the procedure is to give you documentation of passing the class, and you take that to the DMV. Don't know what the "yellow slip" is, 4 years ago it was a diploma looking thing, guess that's changed. Anyway, they fouled up or something, you need to get the documentation and go to DMV, you haven't actually even applied to the state yet; probably would have already had your permit without this glitch. - OS
  20. Gooberment says 15 calendar days. http://www.tbi.tn.go...form.pdf (page 2) - OS
  21. Kali: very few folks get a permit, black or white in the major population counties. Movie stars, politically connected, big rich, etc. Chicago: You can't carry a gun in the entire state. It's not just Chicago. Only state that issues NO carry permits by law. Cornfield or ghetto all the same. DC: The federal government is more restrictive of gun rights than most every state in the union. We can't carry guns in any federal building in the US; you know, the ones "we" "own". NYC: Same as Kali. White folks are just as restricted as blacks, except for the few than have an "in" of one type or another. It's true that many of the gun laws in the South were originally Jim Crow laws. There are remnants of them left, all archaic and unenforced, just never purged, left over from the 1800's. Aside from historical interest, they have no import. Anyway, point is, race/income/population density are just not valid factors in relation to the handgun carry permit process -- you're tilting at a windmill that doesn't exist. - OS
  22. Don't think it has anything to do with Executive or Presidential Order. Just a verbal issuance to the minions of "interpretation" of existing rules. Here are all presidential actions, nada for the time period before or after the story seems to relate. http://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions - OS
  23. Thanks, but they can come back without me involved. On second thought, if they're cheap enough they come with built in target stands, eh? - OS
  24. Mine too. $20 + 10 TICS. They make it quite painless, except for the 30 clams of course. - OS
  25. He can bring the gun here in person, no prob. You both go to a FFL and have it transferred. He can also mail it himself to the FFL in the receiving state, no need to go through FFL in the shipping state. Always need to check with receiving FFL first though, some don't take non FFL shipments, even though it's legal to do so. - OS
