Got pulled over with my gun in the glove box.
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well, I imagine a LEO can simply pull you off the road then and there for a headlight out? Meaning, if you said you were on your way to Florida rather than on the way home he might not be so forgiving to let you continue without having it fixed immediately? But also, as DaveTN and others always say, "fishing" is part of a good cop's vehicle stop, since lots of bad guys are caught that way. - OS -
'Cmon, all carry laws have been posted who knows how many time -- much as you've posted re TCA stuff, you should be able to do it yourself. http://www.lexisnexi...ttopics/tncode/ 39-17-13 section Hint: The one that says "Carrying weapons on public parks, playgrounds, civic centers and other public recreational buildings and grounds". - OS

The Picture That Should Cost Obama His Job
Oh Shoot replied to 10P8TRIOT's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, to be realistic, I'd say it's floating around on lots of hard drives and smart phones/Ipads, general internet access or not. But that means as of now, and it's probably true that not many had seen it before TSHTF all over Tues and Wed. This thing has been on YouTube since July, btw. And most of the countries now in uproar have plenty of the population that can access it, but haven't seen a peep of protest until the obviously well planned raid in Benghazi. The BHO admin is being very disingenuous (to put in charitably) by doubling down that this little thing is cause of all this hooha. I hope it bites back big time. - OS -
Current 9mm Defense Loads
Oh Shoot replied to MiddTennTaco's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
+p has actual SAAMI specs for some calibers, most commonly 9mm, .38 special, and .45.acp +p is actually 'bout same as NATO spec for 124gr 9mm, most target ammo is less. +p+ suggests "even more powerful", but no standards, might pee pee plus in your pants if your gun can't take it. - OS -
The Picture That Should Cost Obama His Job
Oh Shoot replied to 10P8TRIOT's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Hardly ANYbody has seen actual movie. It showed one time at private showing in June to 10 people as "Innocence of Bin Laden". First uploaded as 14 min "trailer" to YouTube as "Life of Mohammed", now called "Innocence of Muslims". All the uproar is over this "trailer" first posted on YouTube. Still there, and YouTube to its credit has resisted gubmint requests to remove it, and has added a "Thumbs Up For Free Speech and Human Rights" banner to the first of it. Its artistic and production value pegs close to zero. I can't watch 13 min of it, can't imagine the whole movie. It is brightly and garishly lit, in focus, with intelligible audio -- those are its highest cinematic achievements. I might sit through whole actual movie for a C-note and free booze. Maybe. Hell, by '96 Willie had morphed into your average Republican. - OS

I don't think this qualifies as a "rivalry" any more. - OS

I'm disgusted with Innocence of Muslims too -- artistic values hover near zero. Brightly lit, clear audio, though. - OS

Ah, didn't grok he may have meant that. It says "non-recurring" in the store description. - OS

Certainly, as per current influences, this aspect seems clear. $200 or so plus the hardware ain't hay for folks living on the edge. - OS

I did exactly I did exactly that. With a Sport. And cheap. And I'm 64. Except for those, no similarity. Barska 3-9x40, 1" barrel, $20 afterthought on a Sportsman's Guide order. Has held up amazingly well, put one on a Mini also, so far so good. Only thing was that the tiny screws holding the elevation/windage turret plates wanted to back out. Locktite seems to have fixed that. Dang thing even holds zero quite well with multiple on/off the rifle. Mounts are UTG Quick Detach/Lock Hi Rings RQ2W1204. $20 at gunshow. On or off in seconds. The snap locks are adjustable for tension. Looks like scope is touching the Magpul, but not quite, paper thin gap there, but that's as far forward it can go without touching, just happens to be right for eye relief. Actually, guess you could go forward a bit more and let it physically touch the fold down sight, there's still some downward give on the Magpul hinge, I just didn't need to quite do it. Worked out perfectly with slots, uses first totally free one and last one, depending on scope this might be limiting but will probably do fine with most. And no, before anyone asks, you don't see the front sight post in scope at all, not a shadow or a blur at all, nada. Nice perk where focus, depth of field, and light gathering phenomena work in your favor. 40 clams total investment scope and rings. Added a bipod to front with a short rail I found on eBay that would fit existing holes in the stock forend and Dol's trigger kit, and that's it, as high tech as this one is going. - OS

I have a question about being denied a purchase.
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Dave, there have been many instances of non-disqualifying charges stopping the process, of both buying a gun or getting HCP. Your own unresolved misdemeanor being an example, unless it was for stalking or domestic violence. Or a second DUI in 10 year period in case of HCP. Doesn't seem to me there's any human determination made at all as to the actual nature of the original charge, until an appeal in case of purchase denied, or a notice of a prob from TNDOS regarding HCP. - OS -
Well, someone told you it was, anyway. Most folks have little trouble with that office, I've had nothing but disinformation. Even with renewal. See #2, 5, 10. And this was smooth compared to 4 years ago. - OS

What do you mean "automatic"? PP just charges your credit card like any other online purchase, you'll see it in monthly cc statement. You'll get email receipt too pretty sure, even without making an account think you have to supply an email addy. - OS

In case you're serious, I wasn't. Figure people check a profile once in a while. I just feel that old sometimes. My maternal grandma DID see 107 though, so there may be an outside chance. - OS

The "must inform or not" that you're packing is also shown for each state at handgunlaw.us, if you're traveling out of state and your preference is not to mention it if you don't have to. - OS

"Yard Sale for Obama" Seriously?
Oh Shoot replied to MattCary's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So out there, I gave it its own thread on second thought, let's take any discussion on that there. http://www.tngunowne...-bho-pimp-talk/ - OS -
Does interview with Miami DJ, "Pimp with the Limp". He's all about that there "war on women" thang and all. PIMP with the Limp? And it airs on 9/11 as icing. White House walks it back, says was supposed to air the day before 9/11. Oh, that would have been better I guess. Pimp With The Limp. One classy dude that Hussein. I think I felt ALL the previous presidents roll over in their graves, and even Slick Willie wouldn't have done that. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/09/obama-chats-with-pimp-the-limp-dj-laz-on-911-morn/ - OS

Oh Shoot replied to MattCary's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He did radio interview with Miami DJ, Pimp With The Limp. Aired on 9/11 no less. A president, all against the "war on women" and all. Pimp With The Limp. Wow. Seriously classy guy. - OS -
Once it's "issued", it's usually 4-5 working days in your hand. - OS

A question for the Romney apologists
Oh Shoot replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
And the Perot vote almost surely elected Clinton, both times, in TN, and most claim, nationally. Course, Clinton really turned into a mild Republican for 6 of his 8 years, so worked out okay. All except for that little weapons ban thang. - OS -
DaveTN and maybe a couple other LEOs onsite would be first to tell you that the fishing part is quite normal and overall at least as important as the traffic stop itself, since many Truly Bad Hombres are found that way. - OS

I sense torture testing might be frowned on in this case, however.
