Who said? Would be piece of cake. American public would support it in significant majority. Republican house would vote for it, since most of the reps' constituencies would, especially if they get some other little sop. Hell, 15 states already ban private sales in some form or other, either totally, or handguns only, or at gun shows. - OS

I expect to see private sales outlawed in next 4 years under BHO, or within 10 years no matter who's in power. - OS

People picking up/dropping off passengers can be armed. Non-student adults can have unloaded guns stored in vehicles. - OS

You think a mass murderer is deterred by laws, sane or insane? Myself, I don't think schools should be different than any other location under TN firearms law. "Gun Free" zones are the best "Free Kill Zones". Depends. Can be perfectly legal, Class B misdemeanor, or Class E felony. - OS

The head is actually not in the scoring rings area, if instructor wanted to be a stickler about it. - OS

There is absolutely nothing about any firearm being "visible" in the TN statutes. Perhaps you have that confused with not "concealed on your person". The blanket default for possession/transport of all firearms without an HCP is simply: "....unloaded rifle, shotgun or handgun not concealed on or about the person and the ammunition for the weapon was not in the immediate vicinity of the person or weapon" There is also: "...transporting a rifle or shotgun in or on a privately-owned motor vehicle and the rifle or shotgun does not have ammunition in the chamber or cylinder, and no clip or magazine containing ammunition is inserted in the rifle or shotgun or is in close proximity to both the weapon and any person." If you can't separate guns/ammo very well, like in pickup cab, it's often advised to have either ammo or guns in locked cases, but that's a judgement call all around. Certainly, no firearm has to be "visible". Don't keep your heater on you, transport it unloaded, and separate heater and shells. - OS

Cars Being Shot In Detroit
Oh Shoot replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Only attempted so far, apparently all the cars would still go. - OS -
Squirt gun with half water half ammonia works a treat. - OS

Inside Waist Band Carry uncomfortable.
Oh Shoot replied to Jesse's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
This (TT Gunleather) behind hip at about 4:30 has always been just fine, no probs with movement or sitting. So was the Bullard Dual Carry I used before it, I just prefer loops instead of clips. 3" barrel though. While it's just as easy to hide a longer barrel, it can definitely make a diff when you sit - OS -
12 rounds at 3,7,15 yards and 12 more at instructor's choice. 70% hit I believe is the passing mark. Easier than it sounds -- the silhouette torso is the size of Shaquille O'neal. - OS

You are their back up survivalist stash! - OS

About twice that in body height. And wing span can be dang near eagle size, like near 5 feet! - OS

Trick is to just plant enough they can't eat it all. That's advice from previous laziest gardener in TN. Weeding is for obsessive compulsive types too, IMNSHO. Our birds of prey can really adapt. I was on a walk and watched for a bit a huge redtail sitting on top of light stanchion on one of busiest roads in Chattanooga a few months ago. Was eating a mouse or something he'd caught. - OS

Wow. I reckon. Good for you. I'd have to save up to shoot the thing very often! Just 5.56 is taking its toll anymore. - OS

Yeah, I have, but not for some time. Never seen one do a kill, though. The Sheraton had a long time family living there, maybe still? Grew up fishing near Osprey nest on Watts Bar, too. Have seem them take fish many times. - OS

Red tailed. Our most common hawk, and the most beautiful and dramatic, IMO. I have them occasionally right here in the urb. A couple of times I've seen them swoop and take birds just feet away from me at my feeder stations on the back veranda. One struck at a dove, missed, and settled for a house finch, so he wasn't gonna stay full very long. Hard to get a size reference from your pics, but seems that one may only be about half grown. - OS

JFYI, a "10/22" is a Ruger brand name rifle. Comes with a fat short rotary type mag that sits flush up inside rifle. - OS

Horizontal shoulder holster options
Oh Shoot replied to Sam1's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
In my brief flirtation with them, vertical hides much better under a sports coat. Lays flatter, doesn't poke out the back, sits further back from front flap of jacket also. Doesn't depend on thumb break for retention either. - OS -
Taylor doesn't really make anything and never did AFAIK.. Started in 1975, now called Taylor Brands, they market Smith and Wesson knives and Shrade knives (they bought the name). They're all made in China now. Their main distribution center is here in Kingsport. http://www.taylorbrandsllc.com/ I believe the one you have is a relatively early model they contracted. Does it say "hand made Japan" on other side? If so, it's possibly decent steel and likely made before 1980. If it says "440 stainless Japan" it's a pretty low grade of 440 steel and probably not as old. Here's a web page that appeared on the "hand made Japan" version knife. There's a "translate" link over on right if it displays in Spanish. http://bacotacticosc...dos-unidos.html If it's the "440" stamped, here's a closed eBay auction: http://www.ebay.com/...=p2047675.l2557 But no, certainly no branch of the US military ever issued Taylor knives. And I'm certainly not dissing it in the least, if a knife serves one's purposes, it's a good knife. Another note, you say that "it goes everywhere with me" -- both those I mention are over 4" blades. If yours is also, it is illegal to tote around in public in TN just in case you don't know. edit: doh, I see you seem to be in Montana? If so never mind about the length in TN. - OS

Cars Being Shot In Detroit
Oh Shoot replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not really, gun laws are state preempted, are relatively similar to TN, some pluses and minuses by comparison. MI allows open carry without permit but not private transfer of handguns, etc. - OS -
Scalia was even on Piers Moron last week. Very interesting interview, I really admire the guy. Amazingly, the socialist Brit Twit didn't ask about gun law, I was shocked. He seldom misses an opportunity to flog stiffer gun control. - OS

I assume you did get your rifle? What was it, anyway? I ordered a blem upper, said up to 20 biz day, they shipped it on the 16 biz day. But I never tried to get in touch with them. Btw, there is a forum on AR15 that they exactly respond to every couple days: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_301/206481_The_Official__Where_is_my_order_thread.html Btw, fantastic score on the 1911 as per the other thread! - OS

Remember your opinion in 20 years when the full power of BHO's Supreme Court has had its effect. - OS

Yep, no barrel length specified anymore. - OS

Nope, .25acp pistol is fine. See TWRA link above. "Rifles and handguns using centerfire ammunition (full metal jacketed ammunition prohibited)" applies to deer, elk, and bear. But not the uber dangerous killer turkey. - OS
