Though I'm not a precision shootist, that's my ammo of choice. And can tell you that a couple of guys who do have quite precise target rifles think it's almost as good as high end Eley stuff and the like. It really seems to be exactly same load as their MiniMag, with just a leadhead bullet instead of copper clad or washed or whatever they are. It's the only bulk I've ever shot that I don't ever recall a dud, and even I myself can tell it's quite consistently loaded. So I'd rule that ammo out -- I mean, you might could get slightly better best results from a higher end load, but I'd opine it's not causing any consistent drastic difference like you seem to be getting. - OS

Likely not. About the only vendor there that sometimes is close to or beats online best pricing on ammo is dlm37015 (David) above, but he mostly sells reloading supplies, just sometimes also has factory ammo. Always worth stopping by to see if for no other reason that he's a great guy to meet and talk to. Except for that, T&T and a couple of the other big vendors will have 500 or 1,000 round bulk cans that will be generally a bit cheaper than you can find in the brick and mortar stores in the area. Also, Georgia Arms will be there, but their prices have gone up too like most everyone else, their Canned Heat .223 is $350/thousand + tax, about the same price you can order it from them for no tax but with shipping. - OS

Well, live and learn. LumberJack alerted me to a line of OWB holsters that David Bullard is making, actually designed for belt wrapping around outside, he even calls the BTB (Between the Belt): http://store.dmbullardleather.com/btb-holster - OS

No worries, welcome aboard. LightGuard got a little more mention in second page and on in this recent thread too: And of course there are quite a few reviews/video reviews around the web. I don't think you'll be disappointed. - OS

Can't, unless Congress meets and changes federal election law. "The electors of President and Vice President shall be appointed, in each State, on the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November, in every fourth year succeeding every election of a President and Vice President." I guess that would allow states to keep the polls open till midnight, but as many have opined, you'd probably get various lawsuits filed if a state's election hours were altered on short notice. Some judge would issue some stay or something, and if it were a swing state with close results, right back to emergency SCOTUS who would again basically determine the presidency as in 2000. - OS

Reminds me of an old two tone Chevy I used to have. Seriously, though, nice looking rifle, better start on another one while you're still young! - OS

"I've been in hundreds of fights, from fist fights to gun fights and never lost"? Like, that fiasco on the Iraqi bridge was a win because he survived it? - OS -
Yep, I've been going to the Expo shows, have passed on the Chilhowee ones for about a year. - OS

It is a further clarification of the decision that was prompted by the Thompson; it is not only in reference to the Thompson, which is only mentioned to give historical legal context. The Thompson decision was handed down by SCOTUS way back in 1992. The letter under discussion is from only last year. Matter of fact, I can't see anything in it that entire document that positively still asserts that a firearm must necessarily start out as a pistol to go back and forth between rifle and pistol, myself? At least in the case of a lower that is not originally transferred as either? edit: btw, Gordon, DC is supposed to be "open" tomorrow. - OS -

Yep, seems ruling indicates that as long as you start with a pistol config, there's no diff between having this: And this: And going back and forth from pistol to rifle, as long as that at no time have you made a SBR by using the short barrel and rifle stock. - OS -
Yeah, there are thick trees before the river in that section though, really can't see river straight across. But it's obvious it ain't the Knoxville one, even with compressed telephoto depth of field. Whole paving thing different too, you're right that it's obvious. Here's Knoxville one from same side. - OS

Best moderately priced weapon light??
Oh Shoot replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Yeah, I like it. Even though there were plenty of reviews/vids online, I put it through the paces with about 75 shots to make sure it held up, all good. No way it's gonna jiggle loose either. Battery weight is really only added weight. Really lights up most all of my largest room, too, center of beam quite bright but plenty of peripheral light, including enough bleed/bounce to see sights even. I don't carry it, but could I reckon. - OS -

Yeah, in total number of folks affected just by the flooding, may well be more extensive damage cumulatively than Katrina, at least in dollar figure. Just Jersey Shore alone might tote up higher. Or not, since the wind isn't actually totally destroying near as many buildings as Katrina. Another significant difference compared to the New Orleans part of Katrina, doubt if there are but pockets of places that will actually retain the water like N.O. did. And unless I'm not seeing overall picture very well, looks like we won't see much of a death toll at least compared to Katrina, since the wind isn't doing anywhere near the damage. Several ways to compare I guess, just have to see how it all pans out. I got a friend retired in Rehoboth Beach, looks like they may have really dodged the bullet barely, I see the lights on the boardwalk never went out! Situation looks quite different right on other side of bay from him in Cape May area. - OS

Yeah, I was FedEx Ground guy for 3 years. Dealt with beau coup dogs daily. I'm a dawg kinda guy. Matter of fact I always had dog treats on me, spent about $30 a month on them, no kidding. The good stuff too, lotsa pupperoni cause it fit the scanner pocket on right leg well and didn't break apart. Every dog I ran into got a treat. Nice ones got several. I had some rezzie customers who were quite regular and the dogs loved to see that ole white an green step van pull up. Had one big lab down in Wears Valley that would jump up the steps into the cab at the entrance of long gravel road and ride in all the way. That being said, I also carried dog spray, and recall having to zap only two. One it took right out of commission but one nasty brute just stood there and took it, continued to snarl at my sound even though he couldn't see me any more! He did quit advancing on me, though. (edit to ward off animal cruelty accusations: Both appeared after I was already well into the person's yard, not present when I first exited the truck, so I was stranded in no man's land and had you been there, you'd have maced them too!) Had one other semi-regular guy up on side of mountain I'd call so he could put his pit bull up. Anything to get a package off. FedEx Ground, you don't deliver it, you don't get paid for it. I got bit only once in the three years. And of course it was one of those "he won't bite" ones. Pulled up to nice home in a burb, little cocker type mix gives me hell, even eats a treat and commences right back into giving me hell, owner comes around corner, I hand him package, he gives me "oh she won't bite", and as I turn to take first step back into van, SNAP, right on back of calf! Was wearing shorts and it drew blood. I give the owner The Stare and inquired if her shots were up to date. Guy said yeah, and didn't even have decency to apologize. - OS

Depends on what you call "target ammo". Any FMJ? Under a quarter a round for say, 9mm? I've always considered 124gr. as the "standard" for 9mm, since it's NATO spec. (But of course NATO spec ammo is essentially +p powder load, too.) Most all the least expensive 9mm is 115 gr. One exception is the RWS stuff from Switzerland, 124 gr, not exactly NATO hot, but certainly not underpowered. Cost more than WWB or Tula, but not outrageous. They still sell that at Wally's? note: I generally buy the cheapest I can find, brass or steel, mostly 115gr. For .223 I shoot various Russian steel 90% of the time, but I'm not too concerned with ultimate target precision either. - OS

Like this I guess? If so, these type wide attachments away from body of the holster itself will indeed distribute weight over a wider area of belt, might be all you need. They also keep the holster/gun in pretty much rock stable position. - OS

Yeah, in defense of USPS, I've sent and received maybe 2000 packages through them in the last decade, never a one lost domestically. Really no alternative in the 1oz. to roughly 2lb range. Hell, eBay would fold without it, and big shippers like Amazon, Sportsman's Guide, ad infinitum would have to kick prices up a bunch too without USPS involvement. UPS/FedEx just can't compete with that kind of pricing currently. I guess they could if they changed main business model to deliver to mailboxes instead of to door, and of course they're already the middle man for USPS on several partnerships. But they'd have to have all the biz to do it. They'd also have to essentially take over the existing post office structure, complete with vehicles. FedEx Express division has been slowing for some time, on way to more and more cutbacks -- there's a diminishing market for purely overnight delivery, and they've already done away with a couple of the slower options. Mainly because Ground already gets everything delivered in 2-3 days, although it's no where near as reliable as the Express division. Lots of reasons for that too, but that's a whole 'nother rant. - OS

She couldn't have, Rick/Carl just coming back to farm when the horde attacked. Also, she didn't know that everyone carries the virus, 'cause wasn't with rest of group when Rick came clean about that. - OS
