You (used) to have to use your swipe card to get in as I remember it. They might have changed to leave the gates open now, I don't go out there anymore.
I started shooting there some about 5 years ago, gates always open during public hours as per my post above. There is no card for general public, you have to pay the hourly rate each time, and check in at main station before going to range. Haven't been over there in the last year, year and a half, so any changes to that must have occurred since I quit going. The Volunteer Club is a separate org. within the facilities, where the card access to gate comes into play. http://www.vrpc.info/ - OS
 2.
They reported that Edys icecream plants were affected. I thought they were part of Nestle as well but that is what Fox was reporting. Eddy's was a heavy finger spelling error on my part.
Eddy's is actually a real brand owned by Hostess. Seems to be a western regional brand of bread and cakes and stuff. Goes back a long way before Hostess, lots of antique signs and stuff found for it. Don't know who the "they" is that reported it but perhaps they were idiots who didn't know the difference between Edy's and Eddy's. - OS
Closed to public except Tuesday nights.
???? Something change I don't know about? John Sevier Hunter Education Center (JSHEC) JSHEC is closed the first full weekend of each month. 4.
I wish we could hear his testimony, though. I don't have anything against King, but I would like to have heard it from Petraeus. I understand he may have gone into some classified stuff, but somehow I don't think anything linked to his testimony would have to be classified. The committee wants to know who was in the loop and who made the decisions.
Apparently, Petraeus made it quite clear what the CIA talking points were when it left that agency. He also made it clear he couldn't say where along the line the narrative changed for Rice's Sunday talk show tour and another two weeks of BHO subterfuge on the Hollywood show circuit. What I didn't hear anything about was his testimony to another committee after that, parroting part of the video explanation. Oh course, the FBI, and that means BHO too, had him by the nuts at the time. - OS
 5.
Probably because you are not in "the database".
My checkered past is apparently actually a complicated chessboard. - OS
 6. Wow, now that is nifty indeed! I have my Dad's old Camillus lineman's/electrician's knife he carried when he first starting climbing poles for Southern Bell after WWII. generic pic (mine is far from shiny): - OS
 7.
I got a renewal form in the mail about 3 or so months before the date. Calm down people.
If I had waited for that one, I would have had to carry the acknowledgement letter around for a month in addition to expired HCP. - OS
 8.
....I am not so sure nuking Palastine is out of the question. I ask myself, what does Israel have to lose.
Their own population from radiation. "Palestine" is the West Bank and Gaza, Israeli "suburbs". Like Bristol, TN deciding to nuke Bristol, VA. - OS
 9.
Off the grid now. Feel good about it.
?? I just checked, and you're there. But I'm not. Is there some rolling database blackout going on? I renewed in August, maybe folks are being dropped as their initial HCP runs out? I see last update was Dec.3, 2011. - OS edit: I took your comment to mean YOU were off the grid?
 10.
I know, something to do with early onset Alzheimers. See? I can't even spell it.
Actually you spelled it correctly. (except for the missing apostrophe). Of course, thinking you misspelled something when you didn't is another of the signs. - OS
 11.
Israel will probably probably start by kicking the daylights out of the first couple groups and then I don't know. Could very easily go nuclear.
"Palestine" is too close to nuke, even "tactically". Plenty of room in Egypt though if they get involved enough. - OS
 12.
Israel has activated 75K troops out of their reserves ...
They've actually activated 16,000 as of today. The 75,000 is the total pool of reservists. Barak has so far authorized calling up as many as 32,000 if needed. - OS
 13.
They make both of those as well. My Preggo wife just freaked when she found out they own eddys as well. I guess I will participate in the panic. I guess it is off to the store for Ice cream and a chest freezer.
Are you confused with Edy's Ice Cream? (owned by Nestle/Dreyer). What is Eddy's? (owned by Hostess). - OS
 14.
I see Defense Minister Ehud Barak "authorized the call-up of 30,000 army reservists if needed", so far. But yeah, whether that turns out to be only saber rattling or not, seems to be heating up for sure. - OS
Update: now today 16,000 were actually called to duty. One report said that the Israeli total reserve is more than 70,000! - OS
 15. Yes, I'm all for repealing laws over all, although the "parking lot" thing might require its own statute. Knife and "club" prohibitions need to be repealed for sure. Hell, even the existing 4" blade limit is not preempted like the firearms statutes, so local government can restrict them even further. - OS
 16.
No, you don't have to be 21 to buy a stripped lower. I know I bought one when I was 18 without any problems. ....
You bought it through FFL? Instructions on step 18 on 4473 say: Since a frame or receiver for a firearm, to include one that can only be made into a long gun, is a "firearm other than a shotgun or rifle", it cannot be transferred to anyone under the age of 21. Other instructions in that section also seem to mean that a receiver is to be transferred only as "receiver" any more, not "handgun" or "long gun". (I can't copy and paste from the ATF PDF, since it's "protected". Even after I dinked with it, it will only paste garbage characters.) - OS
 17.
I have been suggesting to my students to join tgo because of their enthusim for shooting and all the invaluable information available here. ...
No worries with me bro, my comment was because I you'd run into admin probs here if it kept up, I didn't really think the posts were from ghost users. Better perhaps that your new members sing praises in forum already set up for HCP resources: http://www.tngunowne...rmit-resources/ Btw, there are some questions hanging for ya in http://www.tngunowne..._40#entry846140 and http://www.tngunowne...to-b-29-target/ Oh yeah, and one more: you're not the only training biz to use or have used Norris range for shooting qualification. Do you have to make some arrangement with Norris PD for that, or is it just not an issue? best, - OS
 18.
Interesting. Two guys well over $300k and a handful of others in the $150k-$180k range. They do maintain offices in some high rent areas (NYC, DC, Chicago, ...) that may justify some of the salaries. The executive listing covers about $2M of the $4.7M they claim as admin costs. The pie graph seems to make it pretty clear that while some salaries may be higher than we think they should be, the bulk is going where it should. In a quick scan of their financials, nothing really jumps out at me as being way out of line. It's hard to find people with the skills to run a business that size who will work for peanuts.
That's my general take, too. I'd have to look up other charities to see where their overall 17.2% of overhead ranks. But some such comparisons aren't valid. You may find lots of orgs that spend less % on advertising, but that doesn't necessarily mean much -- point being that advertizing may bring in quite large % increase of donations per dollar spent, that wouldn't have been donated at all without it. I guess the % actually spent on the target is main bottom line. - OS
 19.
Good job on the para cord. Personally, I would buy some after market scales though. ... I'd also look for or purchasing another sheath.
KaBar itself has scales for the Eskabar now, comes with both black and orange; they're hard polymer though, not G-10 or micarta. Don't over tighten them, ask me how I know: and don't quote me, but seems I saw on some forum that KaBar might replace the sheath. I actually have one of the original ones myself, probably ought to look into it, although I picked up Al Welk's excellent kydex pancake model for it. - OS
 20.
+1 for this speech. (Although a little long winded).
I'll cut him some slack for that since it's his swan song. - OS
 21.
Hey people, remember its not a democracy here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epQEUGlbUnM
 22.
Don't get caught up in "left to right" or "right to left" when it comes to taper pins. I have seen plenty that had to be tapped out the opposite direction of what they were "supposed" to go out. Always look for the smaller end of the pin, and tap it out from that side.
Good point.
 23.
How do i get the iron sight off? Appears to have 2 pins, no screws. Thanks Ty
Assume you mean conventional sight like: Also assume you know that's yer gas block too. Yep pins have to come out. They're tapered, need to come out from left to right: - OS
 24.
30,000 Israelis reservists have been called up, look out!
I see Defense Minister Ehud Barak "authorized the call-up of 30,000 army reservists if needed", so far. 25.
It wasn't the threading that was his issue, it was the stock he bought afterwards.

Correct, the mil spec buffer tubes are 1.15" and the commercial specs are 1.17"
Ah, gotcha, misunderstood, thnx. - OS
