1.
G&L it is! Any chance they're all inclusive fingerprints and all?
No, fingerprints are done electronically through state contractors after you pay the $115 for application at DMV, they'll tell you who to go to in your area. Part of the $115 is allocated for that. Often a UPS store or similar. - OS
 2. Another clear cut rebuttal example for those who think the "Castle Doctrine" establishes a "Free Kill" zone as discussed in the latter part of: http://www.tngunowne...ction-property/ I don't know MN laws, but he wouldn't fare well under TN's either. Might have been charged more harshly here, even. - OS
 3.
...@OhShoot where are you pulling those paragraphs from--I'd like to visit that site as well. thanks
http://www.tn.gov/safety/handgun/apprequirements.shtml Which is a link from: http://www.tn.gov/safety/handgun/reciprocity.shtml - OS
 4. Along with the Buck 110, the 119 is a classic icon in the knife world. Just as effective as the day it was first released some 48 years ago. Also the blade of choice in many movies, including the Scream series. - OS
 5.
It's not your presumption. The law presumes there is a threat. This means you don't have to prove the threat. The law "presumes" the threat is there simply by the perp's act of forcible entry. Bionic Post
That is correct. However, regardless of how rare it may actually happen, if circumstances come to light to counter that presumption, in other words you being shown NOT to have been in reasonable fear of death or serious injury, you could be charged as per the terms in the rest of the same statute you quoted. Any lawyer on board will tell you the same. You don't have to prove anything -- the state has to prove the contrary beyond a reasonable doubt. The point is, that as Dave says, the "Castle Doctrine" does not create a "free kill zone". Nor does it insulate you from any collateral injury to other persons or their property, even while in defense of your life. - OS
 6.
Please direct me to your source of information. All the carry laws are provided on the department of safety website. I'm not saying you are right or wrong. I just want to know where you get your information. Bionic Post
The point is that "presumed to have held a reasonable belief of imminent death or serious bodily" is still not a license to execute an intruder. Just one example, perp throws himself on his knees with hands up to surrender. At that point you no longer have that presumption, and the testimony of witnesses, or the forensics of a point blank head shot, etc could still get you charged with murder or manslaughter. Any provable circumstances that remove the "reasonable belief" part of the "Castle Doctrine" also remove the "presumption" for it. - OS
 7. Unless you're serving a sentence (parole is part of a sentence), you should be a citizen with full rights. Anything less harkens back to the 3/5 of a person compromise in our Constitution. - OS
 8.
..... After a few minutes of discussion with others, the clerk said I only had to pay $50 for the TN permit, since TN/OH/FL have reciprocity with each other.
It was only the Ohio permit that allowed you to duck the handgun carry class. Though transferring from either state would have only been the $50 renewal rate, with Florida permit, you would have had to take class too, another 60-100 clams. The NRA course would not have sufficed. "Florida Applicant must be twenty-one (21), complete a DOS approved handgun safety course, complete the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit application, provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency, and pay the applicable renewal fee. (Florida requires fingerprinting but does not require a safety course.) " "Ohio Applicant must complete the Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit application and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency, pay the $50.00 renewal fee." - OS
 9. And the Mighty Voles didn't get totally skunked in the SEC.
 10.
How about doing a popular vote. That way the people of the state can decide what they want...
If TN were run by referendum, we'd likely have scary weapons ban, no hicap mags, and no handgun carry. For sure, that would be the nationwide result. Half the actual gun owners in the nation and probably in this state would vote that way too. A lot of Kali state law comes out of their endless referendums. There's a real clue there as to why the USA was set up as a representative Republic and not a pure democracy. - OS
 11.
Update: I ate clover and it tastes horrid. ...
You must not have added the onions and lobster. "Well, you can live on it, but it tastes like s--t." - Crocodile Dundee - OS
 12.
I am of the understanding that walmart gets some special edition cheaper guns. I dont think colt does that but i think marlin does.

There are some less expensive models only available at Wal Mart. I believe the Marlin 30AW is such an example. Other than that, being the same make and model, the Walmart gun rolls off the same assembly line as the one at Joe's gun shop.
There are various dealer exclusive models made by various firearms companies. Marlin, Remington, Mossberg, Ruger etc have done it for many years for sale through various outlets. Marlin's Greenfield stuff and the 30AW (which combined a couple of features of the 336A and 336W) the Wally 10/22 special (20" stainless model, which is actually a quite desirable rifle), etc etc.And certainly not just Walmart either, just look at Ruger's dealer exclusives for the 10/22, Mark III, 22/45, etc on site. They vary by stock and sight configs primarily, but as gregintenn says, the basic components of the firearms are the same. And with same warranty as any others. - OS
 13.
I heard that they microchip the guns, use RFID, and scan your face when you are purchasing the firearms. They put the data in a special database that is sold for marketing purposes. An extra copy is delivered to Feinstein and the Brady group so that when they come for the guns...they will know exactly where to go. Bloomberg machines serve double duty to track all owners in real time. The gun's receivers are made from grade BB chinese pot metal and the wood made from a 2x4 soaked in dioxin. But other than that they are 100% like any other gun sent via a distributor.
All true. Wally's Ruger 10/22 receivers are assembled from recycled sardine cans in Taiwan, barrels are formed from ground bamboo impregnated with epoxy and unsmelted iron ore in Malaysia, all assembled by current descendents of Nazi war criminals in Argentina. And all the ammo sold there is actually rebranded Chinese manufacture. Even the Russian stuff. - OS
 14.
... 6. Trust Fox news, Glen Beck and MSNBC
Good post, but you went way way awry on that one. TGO and MSNBC are oil and water. - OS
 15.
...And you are right, we do not have enough info. Even to blame the unions. Some who seem to have, particularly, and perhaps ironically, the Teamsters (ugh) cut themselves to the bone to save the place, too.
The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union seems to be the main one involved, yet there are apparently over 6,700 Teamster members also? So that's like they run their own trucks and all the drivers are Teamsters? - OS
 16.
Doesn't his company advertise course on this forum all the time?
Suarez is a TGO Authorized Vendor, via Randy Harris (Cruel Hand Luke). 17.
... Also a convicted felon.....
No felony conviction. Otherwise he couldn't own and sell firearms and personally conduct training classes with them. - OS
 18.
.... A resident of this state who is so authorized to carry a handgun may carry a handgun in any other state with which this state has entered into an agreement of reciprocity for handgun permits.
Right now we can carry in 39 states If could only carry in reciprocal states, would be only 22. Would still need to have permit process or lose the others. - OS
 19.
....Reagan was one president who got done what he set out to do. No one is as perfect as the internet expert who may leave out why, sometimes.
The reference keeps coming up simply because the ObamaPhone, ain't. Just because the country is failing quicker and more people use freebies more daily, doesn't mean BHO created them all. And yes, his admin has created an environment conducive to cheaters too, just look at the absurd increase in federal disabilities during the safest aggregate work conditions in history due to OSHA and EPA strangulation. But it wouldn't be fair to say he created those agencies. - OS
 20.
As I read it, a lot more folks in Ohio "qualified" than most other places.
Lots of poor in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Akron, Toledo, Youngstown, Canton, et. al Memphis, which I assume is our greatest concentration of poor, went almost 2:1 for BHO. The worse Dems make things, the more they expand their support. -- at this stage of our decline, quite possibly a quicker fatal irony for the American experiment. - OS
 21.
True, but I can legally drive the vehicle that is parked in my driveway in any city of any state in the U.S. with my TN DL. As far as I know, anyway.
You can take your gun to any state in the union also, subject to the manner of possession allowed in each state, just like you have to drive your car according to each state's rules, so not sure that's a rock solid analogy. - OS
 22.
What is the name of this range in Norris? I have been looking for an outdoor range to sight my new rifle.
Doesn't really have official name AFAIK. Referred to as "Norris Watershed Range" or just "Norris Rifle Range". Handled through Norris PD. Range is about 3 miles out of town on Upper Clear Creek Rd. Closed only two weeks out of the year for deer hunts, and this could be one of them, not sure. http://www.cityofnorris.com/id9.html - OS
 23.
... and was used extensively in the great state of Ohio for?
For exactly what? People who qualify can get one. Usage/cost varies by state -- in TN, totally free for 250min and 250 texts if you qualify. Dunno about Ohio, but I've been bombarded with apps from Assurance and some other company in the last year and a half or so. I mean, did the Obama campaign call all the freebie phones from govt. database or something, whiile the GOP didn't have access, or what? I can't find much but general blog type rants about freebies in general being why BHO won. Which is certainly at least partially true. - OS
 24.
Gotta get me some of that Obama Phone.
"Obama Phone" program (LifeLine) began under Reagan admin. http://www.fcc.gov/lifeline It started including cell phone service under Dubya's admin. - OS
 25.
I paid $732.00 out the door 3 months ago.

A lgs quoted me $760 otd and I passed on that. The $700 is online plus transfer and background.
Out the Door pricing for mine: Feb this year from LGS: 681 w/ tax/TICS April this year from PSA: 665 w/shipping/transfer/TICS I understand that the "craze is on" again, but I see Walmart's AR prices haven't gone up all year, S&W MSRP's haven't gone up either, so keep that in mind when you consider the relative pricing/ethics of the various vendors you see. Yes, of course free capitalism allows any profit level possible -- but I personally see quite a diff between a reasonably higher profit due to supply and demand vs. the CTD philosophy, at least as far as who I'd prefer to deal with long term. - OS
