Piers Morgan is an obtuse idiot
Oh Shoot replied to walton6467's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This one was good. Pratt calmly responded in reasonable way throughout. Piers really came unglued, wound up calling him a "really stupid man" among other things. Pratt responded with "morally obtuse" in not letting someone actually protect school children in the most effective manner known to man. At any rate, Pratt should have just walked out of the set with a comment that he had come here to present facts rather than be personally attacked; seemed the interview was abruptly ended though, so maybe he did during the break, dunno. But of course any anti-gun lib that saw it will certainly say that Piers had a masterful performance compared to the evil bloodthirsty gun loving cretin. Which is why it was ultimately a fool's errand. - OS -

This one's been hanging around my back deck for a week or so. Sorry for the so-so focus, cell phone camera through my sliding glass doors: - OS

Wow. They're really committed to locking out those three states. I've never used anything but a credit card online, so didn't realize location of the bank source of funds could be an issue anywhere. Thanks. - OS

Ah, thnx. Was hoping maybe something had changed with their policy. Btw, can't imagine source of funds matters, just the shipping location. - OS

Watch a few of the interviews on the Watters World segment of O'Reilley, or even some of Jay Leno's or Bill Shultz's on RedEye. "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the America public" indeed. - OS

Soon as it appears on web, check out Larry Pratt's appearance on Piers Morgan tonight. He was on a fool's errand, and should have known it before he ever agreed to appear. Whatever you may feel about their priority in spending money, the NRA is a non-profit 501-C-4 organization. The NRA Foundation is a non-profit 501-C-3 tax-exempt organization - OS

Nobody will "dissolve" any one of those individual companies as long as it can make its own living devoid of the others. Any that couldn't reorganize with a new buyer or as employee or public owned would of course go bankrupt. Rather hard to see Remington doing that, which includes Marlin and H&R, even with an AWB/hi-cap ban. Matter of fact, if you consider the entire line of guns and ammo, seems Remmie would be hit less than many other of the major manufacturers, which have beau coup invested in AR and hi-cap handgun lines. - OS

The opposition is coming over to the phrase "Gun Safety Legislation" rather than "Gun Control Laws". I doubt these euphemisms will change any minds any time soon, although I do indeed find the term "assault weapon" offensive and logically completely non-descriptive of all the things the platform really is. The only "assault weapon" is one used in an assault, and a 100 year old Mosin Nagant would qualify if used as such. - OS

Shipping handgun intrastate is legal both by federal and TN state law too. - No handguns may be shipped through USPS - Fedex doesn't allow any gun shipments between unlicensed individuals unless you cheat and don't tell contents (which is against federal law and FedEx TOS) - Which only leaves UPS who does allow non licensee intrastate shipping of firearms according to its TOS, but depending on clerk you may have probs anyway. Also, handguns must be send some form of overnight, not ground, (also according to UPS TOS, not by law). Must acknowledge contents of shipment (by both UPS TOS and federal law). - OS

How you able to do that, have it shipped to another state than TN/GA/AL? - OS

Was Larry Pratt of GOA. He remained remarkably calm, even after Piers called him "really a stupid man". Pratt returned with a calm charge of Piers being "morally obtuse". He should have added that he didn't come to be personally insulted, put down his earplug, and walked off the set. - OS -
You find yourself over in Knoxville 'bout any time after first of the year, I'll be pleased to take ya shootin' with ARs, too. I shoot with Dolomite some too, we can make it an AR fest. - OS

"Right to work state" addresses union concerns. We are a right to work state but the policy that determines the ability for employer or employee to terminate employment for any reason, or no reason at all, is "at will employment". TN is also an at-will-employment state. I believe certain contractual employment overrides that, however. Also, various public employment agencies also have a state "public policy" that is adhered to. Example, state universities lay off most recent hires of the same job title in a reduction of force situation, stuff like that. But yeah, in general, the majority of TN employers can axe whoever they want, for whatever they want. - OS

If you can't continually sell new lowers or complete rifles, the accessory market can only continually decline. - OS

Whatever is left legal to manufacture and sell, some vendors will survive to produce it. If AR stuff becomes military contract only, obviously only a few will survive. - OS

Did same the other day from JoeBob's. No, I didn't "need" them, so I'm guilty of aiding the panic too I guess. Hopefully the gummit will have to pay me $50 apiece for them to take them away; assuming the TMMGPDF* doesn't get it together in time. *Two Million Man Geezer Patriot Defense Force - OS

Where are all of the pro- gun voices?

Press conference Friday. First official statement today: "The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown. Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting. The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again. The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21. Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time." - OS -
Dick's removed all firearms from store nearest NewTown and suspended sales of "modern sporting rifles" (ARs) nationwide. You can read their official statement here and there: http://www.myfoxphilly.com/story/20372623/dicks-sporting-goods-removes - OS
