Oops. Oh well, prophesy is a racket anyway. - OS

Yeah, that's reflected at handgunlaw.us also. Didn't realize I was being prophetic in the post above . Hope that's not the tip of an iceberg. - OS

10th Anniversary Sheild at the top of the page.....
Oh Shoot replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
Just a note, The new image: Isn't referenced in the Darker Theme, still calls for: The new one wouldn't show up all that well in the darker one though I guess. Oh, yeah, and congrats, glad to have been a part of most of it!! - OS -
Especially since background check is run at same interval anyway. The 18 year old change is the more likely one to make some states consider dropping recognition/reciprocity. Or maybe a state that felt that way might be nice and only honor the HCP for 21 year olds. - OS
-
It's only 12.50/year for renewal. It'll take a good many years to come out ahead even with the lower lifetime price. - OS

Also 18-20 year olds in/honorably discharged from military can get permits also. - OS

SSI beneficiaries count as mental defectives?
Oh Shoot replied to johncantiusgarand's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree. The criteria is quite limited, and would seem only to affect those who I probably wouldn't want to be around if they had a gun period, much less provide them with one. The alarm is of course just due the general mistrust for abuse many most have regarding the fed's potential for abuse -- and the fact that so much is determined by a "rule" rather than enacted law. - OS -

NRA writeup, just out today. Click in the various links within for full details of just who and for what is included on the prohibited list: https://www.nraila.org/articles/20161223/grandma-got-run-over-by-obama-ssa-finalizes-new-gun-prohibition-rule - OS -
So a previous post on TGO from someone you don't know is more convincing that all the current posts on TGO from people you don't know who are telling you the same thing? - OS
-
Yes, side of the road or middle of the forest are equally poor places to have a legal debate with a LEO. - OS
-
No. As I said, because there is no longer a restriction. Or it would be under the hunting methods section on TWRA site. Can I find anywhere where it says it's legal to whistle a tune while walking down the street? Same thing. And as others have said, you're quickly discovering just how little many of our LE personnel actually know about the finer points of TN (and often Federal) law. - OS
-
The 4" has been gone for years. That's why it's not mentioned on TWRA site. Things that are against the law are mentioned, all the things that are legal are not, except in a few cases for clarification, that's how statutory laws are written. The only proviso is "centerfire". You can go after bear with a .25 caliber 2 inch barrelled mouse gun if you like. Which would make hunting a lot more fair IMNSHO. - OS
-
Of course. Which is why so many charge an outrageous fee or don't do it at all. You'd think they were all making a killing without it, too, 'cept that so many go bust over time. Obviously, no FFL must sell or transfer any gun to anyone he doesn't want to, short of a possible protected class situation. - OS
-
Well, your scenario involved buying a used gun for resell. Which between FFLs didn't even require any kind of background check AFAIK, which also meant in TN no stolen gun check. This, after all, is simply a 4473 transfer, no different than any other except the name of the transferor. Fill out 4473 and bound book, 10-20 min. No overhead in stock, no risk on getting burned down the road. For easy money seems to me, which after all is the idea of having the door open in the first place? - OS
-
Well, really, $3k/ year is only prohibitive to small "hobby" type output. Think bigger! - OS
-
I don't see any big hassle regarding that with simple transfer. TICS checks for stolen firearm, may not be perfect system, but once it's transferred, the FFL doesn't have any further responsibility in the matter except to make his records available for any future investigation. And it's not like he's doing the transfer for free. - OS

Unless you have a carry permit. - OS

Anybody seen any Perfecta .45 ACP ammo for sale?
Oh Shoot replied to Quavodus's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Well, sorta kinda -- Tulammo is of course linked to Tula in Russia, but like Wolf, is American importation/distribution company and imports ammo from here and there around the world. Tulammo also has exclusive rights for Maxx Tech ammo from Bosnia (mixed reviews on that stuff). - OS -
Refute. It's a federal felony. He could will it to son with no FFL involved, but he'd have to be, you know, dead. - OS edit: can also be loaned "for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes", but that's of course a possible can of worms down the road.
-
Lots of folks say they set their speed control 5mph over the limit too. Which isn't necessarily a recommendation that you do the same. - OS
-
Similar to mine, but I prefer, "sorry, just didn't notice the sign" and the rest. Forgetting you have a heater on you at all could be seen as sign of senility. - OS
-
As per current version of HPA, would still need type 07 manufacturing FFL, just no longer the Class 2 SOT. - OS
-
Case law has shown that a loaded firearm (or ammo in immediate vicinity) equals intent to go armed, simple as that. - OS
-
Horse pucky for a first post. You don't even have to be 18 to be gifted one in TN for lawful sporting purposes such as target shooting, though must be 18 to hunt with one . And only 18 to possess one in your vehicle, or to buy/sell one in private transaction. - OS
