Well, don't really know, as can't find a story that states she owned it but let it lapse, and don't know of a tool to trace history of a lapsed domain. Know that original creation date shows on domains that have changed hands no matter how many times, but actually don't if that reverts to newest one on the ones that actually lapse and get picked up? It is true though, that all the "senatorxxx.com" that I just tried were already taken. Didn't do much research on each one to see if it's by the actual senators, though. A couple obviously were, some maybe, some almost certainly not, some are actually live, most are parked, etc. - OS

Whos going to the state capital on the 19th?
Oh Shoot replied to reed1285's topic in Events and Gatherings
I am sooo glad it went smoothly without any confrontations or other bad incidents. Sure hope it was same all over US. - OS -
No indication that domain name had ever been registered previously, by her or anyone else. - OS

It's gratifying to see S&W's "opinion" on AWB possibility.

Not federal or TN law. - OS -
Ah, then yeah, we could have coincided in teens. I'm sure we'd recognize each other now if so. :) :) Well, that and the general constant discharge of gawd knows what all compounds down the river from Copperhill. Made a nice dead zone on the lake bottom. Dunno if it were actually hazardous there or not, everybody swam in it. Water was aquarium clear, though. Grandaddy and I would catch a few small odds and ends down below the main dam, but never much. Obviously has turned around a lot since then, the state record Red Eye and Yellow Perch came outta there. - OS

Parts of Wild River were filmed there, though. This kidnik met Lee Remick briefly, and Cleveland got treated to a drunken Montgomery Clift running around a motel parking lot half nekkid. :) - OS

Well, I'd say all bets are off for awhile with just about any vendor right now. I ordered some instock .357mag from PSA to take some pressure off my .223 shooting, don't expect to see it for at least a couple of weeks or more. Amazingly, a last AR upper order from them after Sandy Hook actually made the 15 day estimate, though. - OS

Only if you are old enough to know Noah's dog, like me? (you don't show age in profile). I was living in Athens by the time I could run around in older friends' cars, then my own. Most water partying was on Watts Bar by then, and a couple of quarries in McMinn County. One of them is right by the interstate now, you can still see it if you know where to look (that stretch of I-75 wasn't even there then). Cool vid. - OS

They deliver international packages "domestically" only, AFAIK for over a year now. OP, was it indeed an international shipment? - OS

Yeah, two or three times in party mode. :) I remember something or other about underground caves or tunnels or something there, but can't remember zactly what. As I said, party mode. :)

My granddad was superintendent of the Ocoee Dams till he retired . Or at least the main one that makes Parksville Lake, I guess he was in charge of the other two also, they always snapped to when I went there with him. We used to walk the flume some, would have my .22 and plink along the way. He wouldn't let me shoot at any squirrels, though, since we couldn't retrieve them. Heck of grand ole feller, my gramps. I've tubed down various stretches of it many times (plain ole inner tubes).. Got banged up a bit now and then, but nobody ever got seriously injured. Learned to snorkel in the lake, and also got my first chance to scuba there too. Back then was crystal clear, hardly a frond of any kind of vegetation, and of course not a fish in it either. Haven't had anything to do with it since about 1970. There wasn't any commercial rafting back then. - OS

America, Do We have Rights or Privileges?
Oh Shoot replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
How about rightist idiots? - The great conservative God Ronald Regan is pretty much responsible for Kali's restrictive gun laws. He even wanted to ban handguns entirely and license long guns for hunting only. Of course was 100% behind Brady Act also. - Dubya was for extending the 94 AWB and for universal back ground checks. (just a couple of examples off the top of my head) - OS -

Find a poll you believe in that shows differently. Don't believe Gallup either? They sure pegged last election, unlike whatever more "fair" ones you might have believed. Here's a bunch of them: http://www.pollingreport.com/guns.htm - OS -
Second Amendment: Do Militias Matter Today?
Oh Shoot replied to mcurrier's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
$200 to make a SBS or other AOW, just to be clear, same as SBR. I agree the $5 to transfer is odd since it's the same 2 bills to transfer SBR. Never have known the reasoning on that. Both SBR and SBS were set at <18" in 1934 by the National Firearms Act. Amended for rimfire rifles to be <16" at some point not long afterwards, amended in 1960 to be same for centerfire rifles. - OS -
Yep, just takes the perfect storm to come together. People seem to always fear Dems more than the GOP in this regard, and just seem to forget that: - Reagan is as responsible as any other influence on Kali gun laws being as restrictive as the are today. Hell, he actually wanted to ban all handgun ownership and license all rifles and handguns. He was also, of course, 100% behind Brady Act. - Bush the Elder resigned his lifetime NRA membership in disgust, and halted various firearm importation - Dubya stated he was all for renewing the 94 AWB and for universal background checks Just to name a few. - OS

Closing Gunshow Loopholes/Private Sales [Poll Within]
Oh Shoot replied to xRUSTYx's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I certainly don't know the finer points involved with the FFL license, but once you have one for a given state, you can do biz at more locations than your brick and mortar. Otherwise a dealer couldn't sell at a gun show. Also, employees of an FFL can do the checks without the actual license holder being present, so I guess a dealer could have any number of traveling folks bopping around, too. But I guess the larger point is, no telling what laws would be tweaked if private sales are ended. And more than likely, whatever the changes, there would have to be further tweaks down the road when real world implementation meets the intent of the legislation. And it doesn't always take further congressional action, can be changed by the agency under whose jurisdiction a particular USC is enforced -- that's the CFR part of federal law. - OS -
Here's a compilation I've never seen before, apologies if everybody else has, really enjoyed it. Juxtaposes some pithy ironic viewpoints that really speak volumes. http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2010/09/21/40-reasons-to-ban-guns/ - OS

NRA needs to oust LaPierre and entire PR apparatus and get some damn pros in there. Maybe let Chris Cox run it for a while and see how it goes, put Wayne on the board and let him glad hand and fund raise. But for gawd's sake get some damn political/media smart spinmeisters in there that understand how to catch flies, oil the waters, and win friends and influence people. - OS

Obama to deploy his re-election machine
Oh Shoot replied to JR2ATN's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yup. That's the way it's done now. Manufacturer -> distributer -> FFL. Only works for sure with the first owner. That's why if we do indeed have to eat the end to private sales, it's going to be damn difficult to not have a registry go along with it. Then again, they're pretty stupid up there, maybe they won't really notice or care, 'cause the only reason something may come out of there is some "feel good" legislation to bow to public perception, nothing that will be actually effective. - OS -
And to keep harping on the obvious: all of this has come to a head because of Sandy Hook (plus the other mass shootings). Note that in zero of the mass shootings from Columbine on did the perps buy their guns in personal sales. - OS
