  1.   Did you read my post above?   Or the bill?
  2.   Yep, that's my take.   We're eventually gonna see a bill or two voted, but may not be till much later this year, and might not be until later next year. This is only first year of the 113th, after all, and contentious things tend to get put off as far as possible.   I think as long as stuff is pending there, demand is gonna stay high. Now you've got x number of new gun owners who will hoard ammo, too. Just like the previous ones have.   - OS
  3.   I guess powdered milk has advantage over water for added nutrition, but that's the only damn one, yuck.   - OS
  4. .223 is .223. A different rifle won't extend range to speak of. Longer barrel length up to a point is main factor on the range, and optimum twist for bullet weight. Marines already qualify at 400-500 yards with ARs, you want to go longer? :)   A decent AR is already pretty darn accurate. Any increase in that is gonna be in relatively minor scale for general shooting. If you want to chase minimal groupings or competition level accuracy, some bolt rifles probably will, but a standard factory rifle configuration might or might not do it, depending on which firearm. And again, bullet weight vs. rifling is large factor with either, and barrel length. My opinion, your S&W Sport is gonna be tough to improve on accuracy without going custom.   Example, most all stock Savage .22LR bolt guns will outshoot a Ruger 10/22, but you're looking at the diff between maybe 3-5" at 75 yards,  2-3" at 50 yards. And of course exact round matters a lot too, difference here is especially significant with .22LR accuracy.   Rules of thumb, with same caliber, same cartridge: - bolt guns are more accurate than semi-autos - no rule is completely consistent   - OS
  5. To be exact,   - a semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and a pistol grip - any semiautomatic shotgun that has a pistol grip   - OS
  6.   Actually, can't claim to be that astute, I PM'd him once just to ask. :)   Mainly too small to tell what it was on his posts running at 1600x900, I thought it looked like Japanese performance art.   I figgered out at some point that if not sized down by user before uploading, the images are larger on the person's profile page, like the one I posted above.   - OS
  7.   Did the same with Iraq. Iran probably would have whupped 'em without US support.   - OS
  8.   It's not like you can hoard milk. Unless you have cows. :)   - OS

  11.     You mean the "federal law" part, Gun Free School Zone Act?   If so, permit from the state is an exception under it.   - OS
  12. Did he mention any specific additional infringement for which he would not vote ?   Of course not.   All the antis say they support 2A too.   - OS
  13.   Gonna be a long haul, folks.   I believe we'll eventually see actual votes in the Senate and the House on some bill or two, but not until much later this  year at the earliest. Very possibly not even until the second year of this 113th confederacy of dunces.   - OS
  14. Newest assault:   Barbara Boxer has filed S.147 to set minimum federal standards for the states to follow for issuance of carry permits.   Text not available yet:   http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/s147#overview   Only story I can find right now:   http://monachuslex.com/?p=2358   - OS
  15.   I hope all this enthusiasm doesn't wear off by the time there's actually something on the table for them to vote on. That'll really be when the rubber really hits the road.   Problem is, that might not be till much later in this year. Might not even be until the second year of the 113th.   Looks like immigration and budget is maybe gonna keep them busy for some time to the exclusion of most everything else.   - OS
  16. Pretty nebulous.   They're naming the recipients of the most money from the "groups" that support the bill, but the groups are very generalized, not named by specific orgs.   Hell, some of them are the top grossers for just about any facet of the country you can imagine. That's known as being a successful politician, appealing to widest group possible by not taking a definitive stand over time on much of anything.   Perfect example. Rob Portman is in BOTH lists, so he's the most successful purveyor of double-speak in the whole bunch mentioned. :)   - OS
  17.   Yeah, tell me again about all the ones most TGOers, indeed most conservatives period, didn't believe in regarding the last election.   - OS
  18.   To be fair,  we're in the Survival and Preparedness Forum, so "need" is naturally more of a valid topic herein?   - OS
  19. Did mine by mail back in the summer,  took three months and a phone call. That's a slight improvement over the original permit which also took 3 months, but  required 2 phone calls to the office, an email and phone with head of the division.   Never been in the middle of a bell curve in my whole life.   - OS
  20. Yeah, he shoots all the time, but no pictures.   As somebody said on The Five, the WH has released pictures of Obama doing everything short of flossing.   - OS

  24. Still have my first also, under the tree on my 12th Christmas in 1960. Remmie Fieldmaster 121. Was either old new stock or used, as they quit making them in '54, but sure looked shiny new to my wide eyes! - OS
