  1. Nifty, looks like something from Winter Olympics competition. - OS
  2.   Dang, you are an aficionado.
  3. That's just a found pic, but looks like mine, from the 50's. Early plastic stock and foregrip, Bakelite I guess. I carried a bb buried in my palm from that puppy for a year or two -- 50 BB magazine screws into end of barrel, got jammed, I put butt of my palm down on it to unscrew it and POOF, right in there, every bit of the lowly 350 fps maximized perfectly, healed over, didn't really think it was even in there, but a year or more later it decided to work its way back out. Those were the days. - OS
  4.   Let us know if it's as "backyard quiet" as it seems to be.   I'm sort of hoping mine is, but I kind of doubt it, what with just the spring piston noise, but I shouldn't have any supersonic crack anyway, although pert close with light pellets, ~ 1000 fps.   Looks like yours may be about as accurate as they get right out of the box, which is very nifty indeed. Supposedly my underlever model is more accurate than the average break barrel spring piston design, and doesn't have to be held in the "artillery grip", from what I've read anyway.   - OS
  5. Well, that is a classic for sure. I'm "upgrading" from: to: Only took 50 years to decide. :) - OS
  6.   Obviously that design must be legal ...   Begs the question, though, just what design makes a suppressor an NFA item for actual firearm? Like, if you could design the same thing for a 22lr rifle, would it need a tax stamp?   Really a nifty air gun man...and high tech.   Just so happens, I have the same Daisy pump I've had since I wuz a kidnick, and have kicked around the idea of getting some modern air gun or other, and just the other day I stepped into a intro level (Chinese) Browning Leverage .177 underlever off Sportsman's Guide.  After reading a bunch, decided to go with the lessor velocity to keep it subsonic without going to the heaviest pellets, and the rigid barrel design, we'll see, won't have it for a few days yet.   'Course it ain't nuthin like that puppy, though. Hope I don't get totally hooked or something (like you). :)   - OS

  8. Sounds like between Obama and all the brain docs they're gonna be playing in bubble suits before long. - OS
  9.   I've heard that one myself.   - OS
  10.   I admit I'll probably have it on while I do other stuff, but also admit I'll probably pay more attention to the new commercials!   - OS
  11. I love my 10/22's also, have a bit of KIDD here a bit of Volquartsen there, just stock barrels and not full tilt boogie like yours.   FWIW, yours certainly has my seal of approval. :)   - OS
  12.   From 18 USC : 922 definitions:   (21) The term “engaged in the business” means— (A) as applied to a manufacturer of firearms, a person who devotes time, attention, and labor to manufacturing firearms as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit through the sale or distribution of the firearms manufactured; ( C ) as applied to a dealer in firearms, as defined in section 921 (a)(11)(A), a person who devotes time, attention, and labor to dealing in firearms as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit through the repetitive purchase and resale of firearms, but such term shall not include a person who makes occasional sales, exchanges, or purchases of firearms for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby, or who sells all or part of his personal collection of firearms; (D) as applied to a dealer in firearms, as defined in section 921 (a)(11)( B), a person who devotes time, attention, and labor to engaging in such activity as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit, but such term shall not include a person who makes occasional repairs of firearms, or who occasionally fits special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms   (11) The term “dealer” means (A) any person engaged in the business of selling firearms at wholesale or retail, ( B )any person engaged in the business of repairing firearms or of making or fitting special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms, or   In short, it's their call, if they think they can prove it. Or even if they can't, if for whatever reason they just want to make your life miserable. Really.   - OS
  13.   It's their style and they just can't help it anymore.   Once BHO got that unexpected help from John Roberts grasping at legal straws, they're just gonna stick everything in and break it off.   - OS
  14.   Not true bro, you can legally sell it, just like any other gun, as long as you are not "engaged in the business" of doing so.   - OS
  15. He's wrong that you can't sell it, though, at least by federal law. Says that at the first, then later acts like you can.   'Course, he's in Kali, so I'm sure that keeps him confused. :)   - OS

  17.   If it's gonna happen, will have to be in TN, SCOTUS so far has washed its hands of carry. I imagine if they ever do, they will make it clear that it is a states' right issue, not federal. They might, however insist that all states which issue permits allow carry a "shall issue" rather than a "may issue", which of course in a number of states essentially means "will not issue". But I wouldn't hold my breath on that one either. And I wouldn't be surprised if a few states simply quit issuing permits at all, if so. I suppose they could still deputize the elite or something.   Kwik challenged the state constitutionality of the carry law, didn't get very far, 'course that was him.  Matter of fact, he decided to pursue that rather than even attend his appeal hearing with TNDOS to try and get his permit back.   FWIW, I agree that under the TN constitution, both the unlawful carry statute and the HCP system are unconstitutional, until and unless the state can prove that either reduce crime.   - OS
  18.   All bets are off after McCain and Romney. I'd wager Christie is likely to poll better than either of them did a year away from the election.   Unless something big happens to turn people away from the Dems, Hillary is unbeatable anyway assuming her health holds out.   - OS
  19. Well, at worst in TN, you're free to espouse that "right" while serving only 11 months and 29 days in jail and paying $2500.   - OS
  20.   That's also not in Feinstein's bill, just to keep on track here, though it does call for background check on transfer of grandfathered banned items.   - OS
  21. Oddly, unlike the other same pix I've found from different places, this one has EXIF info in it, but not the date field.   Make - Canon Model - Canon EOS 5D Mark III XResolution - 100 YResolution - 100 ResolutionUnit - No unit YCbCrPositioning - Centered ExifOffset - 142 ExposureTime - 1/320 seconds FNumber - 4 ExposureProgram - Manual control ISOSpeedRatings - 400 ExifVersion - 0220 ComponentsConfiguration - YCbCr ShutterSpeedValue - 1/320 seconds ApertureValue - F 4.00 ExposureBiasValue - 0 MeteringMode - Center weighted average FocalLength - 170 mm FlashPixVersion - 0100 ColorSpace - Unknown (0xFFFFFFFF)
  22.   Quite a few people in America turn 21 every day, ya know. :)   - OS
  23. Sincere condolences.  ;)
  24.   May all happen. But it's not in Feinstein's bill, which is the topic.   - OS
  25.   Well, it doesn't matter when they are given or sold under the bill. Guns/mags are either transferable or not. Any owned before enactment of the bill are transferable. Though it does call for a background check for transfer of grandfathered banned firearms (but not mags), as you say there is no way to prove when they were transferred (at least in most states), so no way to prove that a background check was needed.   Proof if charged of transferring a post-ban firearm would  have to come down to serial number as per manufacturer's records I assume. Proof regarding post-ban magazines is same, as all hi-cap mags are required to be serialized post bill enactment.   - OS
