  1.   Hardly anybody listened to me a year ago all the way up to the election either. Nobody bit when I started a year ago with universal background checks during this admin, either.    It's okay.   Maybe her health will go, or the dollar will crash. Either of those will negate the prediction. Meanwhile, I'd say she's on a weight loss program, skin tucks, hairstyle experimentation, etc. She'll look 50 in two years, rarin' to go.   She and Slick Willie aren't really people, let alone spouses. They're political androids and to become the first husband/wife presidential combo will be historical irresistible impulse.   - OS
  2.   I let my Geek Card lapse some years back -- is that true, drives are not referred to in that way anymore?   - OS
  3.   People. They're the worst.   - OS
  4.   Biden won't last the second primary if he's dumb enough to even challenge.   This old woman is the most admired woman in the world of the 21st century thus far, and umm, first woman prez perfect followup to first black one. To be followed by Hispanic gay one next I guess.   Not to mention she's already anointed by the Party and the Media. A shoo in for the nomination if she wants it. She won't even have to spend much money on the primaries.   And unless Bad Times drive people from the Dems, a shoo in to win the Presidency too, much bigger margin than O's second time around, maybe even more than his first.   - OS
  5.   There's actually no requirement to lock either gun or ammo up in TN ("an unloaded rifle, shotgun or handgun not concealed on or about the person and the ammunition for the weapon was not in the immediate vicinity of the person or weapon"), but certainly you can show you've gone the extra mile, and indeed would also be completely legal for interstate travel under the federal "safe passage" law to tote your firearms from any place they are legal to any other place they are legal.   - OS
  6.   Belle Meade zapped their ordinance after Kwik. That's one thing he actually accomplished.   And yeah, lots of towns around TN have that same verbatim antiquated ordinance banning carry "except for an Army or Navy revolver carried in the hand".  Knoxville does too. Dates back to the 1870's. According to an MTAS doc I have, the last time anyone was charged with it in the state was in 1928.   - OS
  7.   I may not be able to cover what a silver quarter might be worth in four years!   - OS
  8.     Well, actually, don't see why you can't carry a sap if you have the certificate.   Defense reads "By any person possessing a club or baton who holds a certificate that the person has had training in the use of a club or baton..."   And certainly a sap falls under the definition of "club" in 1301: '"Club" means any instrument that is specially designed, made or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with the instrument;'   I just don't want to carry one bad enough to go through that, I guess. And of course, pay for another privilege.   - OS
  9.   We're in such decline on most every front it's impossible to say, I'd say. ;)   - OS
  10.   Yep, probably get a sizable chunk of women to the polls out of that 45% who don't even usually vote.   - OS
  11.   They'd have to drop "club" from the unlawful carry statute.  I'd kinda like to carry a sap once in a while.   - OS
  12.   Good quip. But Hillary will likely win by at least the same margin.   - OS
  13. I'm ducking now before Garufa sees this thread, his being from Memphis and named after a Confederate commander and such like.   It is just pathetic and sad though, changing history via progressive politically "correct" editing of historical import. Very Soviet and Red Chinese like really, making "un-persons" to suit current social majority vogue.   - OS
  14.   She'd be 69 upon election, and 8 months younger than Reagan was when elected to his first term.   - OS
  15.   Yes. More than adequate under TN law.   - OS
  16.   Betcha a quarter that if she can still walk and talk, she runs. And if she runs, she wins.   Only thing that will defeat her is if things get really bad and folks turn the other way in desperation. And I mean bad enough that gummit money in folks' pocket won't swing it. 'Course that means that earned money won't swing it for many either.   But as you say, 4 years is a political eternity anymore. And we've probably got plenty enough to worry about on 11/4/14. And up till then too, of course.   - OS
  17.   Well, 4 years ago the average was more like 6-8 weeks, but mine was extra irritating.   Worse, though, the renewal took just as long this summer; I was one day away from having to carry the letter of receipt around with expired permit. Now that I think about it, it was closer to four months actually, as I had requested the renewal form before the one showed up in mail they automatically send.   - OS
  18.   Yeah, think I'd rather face national guard than a couple thousand marshals.   - OS
  19.   Agree very unlikely the GOP nominee. But no chance of being elected if his is, or as third party,  unless something major happens to turn the tide away from progressive trend, and of course Hillary as heir apparent.   And of course, "major" = "bad", so it's not like we'll all be totally convulsed with cheering if that happens either.   - OS
  20. Be aware of dust as well. Not an issue with loaded ammunition but at the range it is possible to be exosed to lead dust from either the targets or dirt backstops. Anytime you touch lead make sure to wash your hands before injecting anything.         I've told you to stop injecting all that stuff !   - OS
  21. Really nice...   What are the three threaded bars or tubes?   - OS
  22.   Could certainly be charged if the cop had an axe to grind. Same with a ball bat or other club. Unlikely, though, without some extenuating circumstances.   There's always the "going outdoors" claim for knives, but that wouldn't work so well for toting it around on your person in public.   - OS
  23.   4 inches.   Penalty the same as carrying a gun without permit, Class A misdemeanor.   - OS
  24.   Wasn't enough to deter at least two women. He has four kids.   - OS
