  1. That's what I paid for blem metal ones from PSA less than a year ago and seems these Omnis were about $40.   I'm guessing the polymer ones will be the only sub $200 lowers we'll see for some time, surely they must be much quicker to crank out than aluminum. Everybody seems to say they perform fine, though.   - OS
  2.   Well, technically, the definition says that no mag can be near the gun period, loaded or unloaded, and the gun be considered unloaded. Which suggests its likely bungled verbiage as far as intent, which would be loaded mags near the gun, same as any other ammo near it as per the statutes.   - OS
  3. Got the Browning Leverage yesterday, my first "modern" air gun. Tried it out inside, at five yards, cheap light weight pointed pellets go half way through 500 page yellow page book and actually pokes concussion hole all the way through. Most impressive for subsonic, didn't know exactly what to expect. Pert wicked expanded hole through tin cans too. Not overly loud, surely fine in one's backyard without generating neighbor complaints. Live in apt complex so can't really test it outside yet, I'll take it to range and down to Mom's next visit and really give it a workout. Looks like a lot of fun coming up for 162 clams. And cheap available ammo. - OS
  4. That is a very nifty take on the rifle; I knew about it, but never seen that much detail about the Lewis and Clark angle on it before though, thanks for posting it.   Here's overview of the rifle in general:   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girandoni_Air_Rifle   - OS
  5. I've had one of the "confirm backorder" notices in the past, before the current panic, and oddly enough the order showed up less than a week later. I think the notice may have something to do with credit card law changes in the last year or two, that customer authorization can only extend for x period of time or somesuch.   All in all though, IMO, you can't do better than SG as far as the way they handle things, customer service, etc. Have bought a lot of stuff from them over the last 5 years or so. Just got an air rifle and pellets through them yesterday as matter of fact.   Even the couple of returns I've done with them have been quite painless. AND, you can actually get them on the phone if necessary, and THAT'S an exception rather than the rule anymore.   - OS
  6. Well, all back to normal today on my Windows boxes, all vids appear.
  7.   I got a bolt carrier group from BCM that had no gas rings on bolt. From BCM for c'sakes.   Saw it before I shot it, though.   - OS
  8.   Just a few quick random thoughts,   You're talking pre 1968 with the mail order stuff, so only us older timers are gonna have input.   I'm in the generation where half the pickup trucks in the high school parking lot had a rifle or shotgun in the window rack, and probably most guns were bought at the local hardware store. All the boys had pocket knives and I can remember playing mumblypeg (root the peg) during grammar school recess. Used my own rifle in Boy Scouts to get the Marksmanship merit badge, and two of our scoutmasters would bring along both rifles and handguns on some camp outs for everyone to shoot, etc.   Didn't have to be 21 to buy a handgun before '68 either, only 18.   If you look back, most all these major gun acts were precipitated by the actions of just a few criminals that shocked the sensibility of the public.   Capone and other famous hoods in the '30s, Oswald and Sirhan and Ray in the 60's, Chapman and Hinckley in the 80's, etc.   What seems to be new for the most part  is the switch of the impetus stemming from precisely targeted public figure victims to dispassionate random mass killings, Columbine,  VaTech, Ft. Hood, Aurora, Sandy Hook.   - OS
  9.   Agree. I actually considered voting in the Dem primary for BHO, just to help forestall Hildebeeste, who I considered the worst possible outcome. Shows ya how wrong a feller can be.   - OS
  10.   I don't think it's very helpful throwing out that old saw every time to scare the newbies. :) . Almost certainly it is clumsily written, and meant to mean "loaded clip or magazine".   At any rate, the statutes under which you would be actually charged are quite clear, clearly overriding any nuance in that definition. If the real intent was to make nearby empty mags a violation, it would surely be mentioned in the actual statutes that carry a penalty for violation.   - OS
  11.   Pert sure, search seems to support it.   Kwik's last statement on the matter, FWIW:      " Belle Meade ordinance 11-602 was deleted according to ordinance 2010-7 which passed on September 15, 2010. 2010-7 went in to effect 15 days after the Board of Commisioners voted to accept it. The City of Belle Meade no longer regulates the carrying of arms."   - OS
  12.     Correct. Original date of issue is used, long as you file renewal before expiration.   - OS
  13.   Hell, I believe it's same basis for citizen's arrest in TN even.   - OS
  14.   Anybody who thinks it ain't a serious endeavor shouldn't be carrying, IMNSHO.   - OS
  15.   Well, it's only example of a correct sign, not the correct one.   'Course 95% of the posted places will just have a gunbuster. And there's no "correct" one, and that's all they need.   - OS
  16.   Nothing, assuming you can hit a torso at 3, 7, 15 yards most of the time. Which most people can do after a couple of shots if they're never even shot a gun before.   - OS
  17.   Hell, he can open carry there without a permit.   - OS
  18. Internet ExSnorer is giving "cannot be displayed in a frame" notice, but with link to actual vid, which works.   Firefox shows nothing but blank space on  page where vid would be. No mouse hot spot there either.   - OS
  19.   Yeah, something's gone wonky, has been a prob for various phone systems lately, but now PC's too. Maybe David is trouble shooting or something.
  20. all vids have now disappeared for me on two Windows machines...y'all still see them?
  21. David working on things I hope?   Vids disappeared for me right now on Winders boxes, both desktop with XP and laptop with Win7.   - OS
  22.   That was a lot less vitriolic than I expected, you're really mellowing out, man. ;)   - OS
  23.   Think I'd wear the Beretta FS around neck before the Espada, less cumbersome. :)   - OS
  24.     It's a joke to think any US Congress Critter would write a unique personal response unless it were to a big dog benefactor. To be fair, how could they, really? Not enough hours in the day even if they didn't do anything else.   - OS
