HB118/SB142: Current "parking lot" legislation
Oh Shoot replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Anyone's "privately owned vehicle" would exclude that. - OS -
HB118/SB142: Current "parking lot" legislation
Oh Shoot replied to GKar's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So what was the big stickler about insisting that it had to be the "permit holder’s privately-owned motor vehicle"? Rather than any frigging privately-owned vehicle? Could have added "with permission of owner" or some such. Maybe extension of castle law theory, or was there actually a logic to it at all? - OS -
Very short barrel, won't jam, but a bit smaller than your size spec: :)

What is "DGU"? "Dollar General" something?

Remarkable revolvers. Quite advanced really, as even your oldest one has the trigger block device, first drop safe revolvers made AFAIK. My 922 is a johnny come lately, late 50's best I remember from researching them. I used it to get HCP. - OS

And how was it sent? - OS

UPS is your only option for a handgun if not going to a licensee. According to their TOS it is allowed, but you must declare it and it has to go overnight, and you'll need to do it at a hub. And hopefully you don't run into ignorant agent, which does happen. The only federal law regarding it is that if not going to a licensee, must be declared as firearm to shipper. That and no handguns allowed sent by individuals period through USPS. --------------------- UPS accepts packages containing firearms, as defined by Title 18, Chapter 44, and Title 26, Chapter 53 of the United States Code, for transportation from and between licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, and licensed collectors, as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code, law enforcement agencies of the United States (or of any department or agency of the United States) and law enforcement agencies of any state or department agency (or political subdivision of any state), and from and between persons not otherwise prohibited from shipping firearms by federal, state or local law and when such shipment complies with all applicable federal, state and local laws applicable to the shipper, recipient and package. * Handguns, as defined by 18 U.S.C. § 921,will be accepted for transportation only via UPS Next Day Air® Early A.M.®, UPS Next Day Air®, or UPS Next Day Air Saver® services. (Note: UPS Express CriticalSM Service is not available for firearms). * UPS accepts firearm parts for shipment, provided the part is not a "firearm" as defined under federal law; the contents of the package cannot be assembled to form a firearm; and the package otherwise complies with federal, state, and local law. (Note: Receivers or frames of a firearm, firearm mufflers and silencers are considered "firearms" and are accepted for transportation only if shipped in accordance with UPS's requirements for shipping firearms.) * UPS does not accept automatic weapons, including machine guns, for shipment. * Firearms, including handguns, and firearm parts are not accepted for shipment internationally * Ammunition may be accepted for shipment internationally provided it is shipped in accordance with the UPS Guide for Shipping International Goods. * UPS ReturnsSM Services are not available for packages containing firearms. - OS

Private Sales May Be Next 2A Infringement
Oh Shoot replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think you may be mixing up "laws" and "rules"? USC (the enacted law) vs CFR (the interpretation of rules for enforcing the law)? Is what you said stated clearly in the actual USC? (I've really never delved into that part of it, not sure I've ever even found it). O just changed the rules without enacting a law, after all. - OS -
Maybe they won't have to leave. Haven't heard anything new regarding the bill in the Senate, they've had it for a week. Seems if they were as rabid as the House, it would already be on the guv's desk. One report says a final vote will be "close". - OS

He's in Maryville, not Knoxville, which is what made it more confusing. - OS

Private Sales May Be Next 2A Infringement
Oh Shoot replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yes, and it does not show majority support anywhere to the best of my knowledge. But the background check itself isn't, obviously has overwhelming support. Certainly, a permanent database is probably going to be attempted to accompany it, and hopefully that will be a successful line in the sand that won't be crossed. Although I figure that there already is a permanent database that could be utilized if conditions are right. The latest EO that allows failed background checks to be permanent already puts overt holes in that, and I assume that they are now including even those "failed" ones that are overturned too. Indeed, I expect to see more and more checks initially denied for that reason alone, to add to that database. - OS -
TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Yep agree. Statute doesn't say "cutting edge" or "sharpened" edge. Don't know of a state law that does, although the one in the UK does. You can be pert damn sure if push comes to shove, LEA will measure total length from tip to grip. Actually, makes sense as far as penetration aspect is concerned, doesn't matter if blade edge is sharpened at all for that purpose really, long as the point works. - OS -
See you had no responses yet. Dunno about the barrel nut question, but the buffer tube should not "rise". On my ARs, if I use a level on top of the flat top receiver, the buffer tube pert close levels with that also. - OS

Seller is in Maryville, TN] Maybe KX is for Knoxville, closer but still no cigar.

I like those 20 rounders fine, btw. I don't know about "pre-panic" pricing though, I paid $3.50-4.00 each for them. CDNN and Sportsman's Guide sold the crap out of them for a couple years. - OS

Private Sales May Be Next 2A Infringement
Oh Shoot replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I can assure you that legislators care a LOT about polls. Especially the ones which they perceive reflect their own constituencies.Federal pols commission their own private ones, too. Which is why we'll have an end to private sales before the end of the 113th, because enough of them will know it won't affect their reelection bids, unlike some of the other gun issues. - OS -

Show me a nationwide poll that's rigged or skewed to indicate a majority against universal background checks. - OS -
It ain't bad though. I walk 4 miles to Y and back frequently, and I knew Methuselah personally. - OS

How weird, "gunownersclub" = ### What's "KX" in the title?

Original location was posted, btw (the long worded version), dunno about new one, didn't even know they'd moved. - OS

Well, just about a mile exactly one way from Boling to Market Square. Look at a map, you want to walk on greenway on north side of Neyland (don't cross over to the river side of greenway) which will lead you behind the Hill to World's Fair park. Just aim at the Sunsphere, you come out on Clinch/Henley, Market Square is another 3 blocks. - OS

After 60 days certainly, unless there's some trouble spot in one's past, a phone call inquiry seems to shake them loose more often than not. Hell, I had to do i with my renewal, was going on four months, didn't occur to me until I realized I was gonna have to start carrying the letter of receipt along with expired permit in just a few days. - OS

So Michele O presented the Oscar for best Picture?
Oh Shoot replied to Raoul's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
FDR, Ronald Reagan (after he was president, too :)), and Laura Bush have all "appeared" at Oscar ceremonies. FDR's was live radio, the other two on tape. I see it as rather a non-even in the total scheme of things. - OS
