Wine Sold In Grocery Stores.....And Maybe High Gravity Beer?
Oh Shoot replied to waynesan's topic in General Chat
If we opened up wine and high octane beer sales beyond liquor stores, the under-the-table money to get a liquor license would drop dramatically. - OS -
Higher % of people agree on importance of universal background checks than they do on capitalism, vacations, or even Italian food. Seriously. Even the most conservative pols' districts run in the 80% range, nationally is closer to 90%. We gonna have it. Only question is the permanent database thing. That's the fight that needs to be concentrated on. - OS

The Great Prophet of Corryton. :) Shot down today in committee by one vote. That generally signals death of a bill. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2013/mar/12/wine-in-grocery-stores-possibly-killed-by-house/ - OS -
Looks like Magpul will be moving
Oh Shoot replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Seems it has to go back to House for another vote, after the shotgun amendment. Looked it up and the House seems to have voted 34-31 first time around. - OS -
TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Ah, thanks, so it was apparently TN case law from somewhere. Well, I guess that could be used as a defense if so. Problem is, it wouldn't mean jack to an arresting officer, and would have to be used in court -- where, even if you won, you still lost. - OS -
Also, you have to find your own molle/malice clips for that one. - OS

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Must not be Tennessee case law? (the only one that might count). From 39-17-1301: "(17) "Switchblade knife" means any knife that has a blade which opens automatically by: (A) Hand pressure applied to a button or other device in the handle; or ( B ) Operation of gravity or inertia" - OS -
I got it from CTD, part of their "ModGear" line: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/MOLLE-011 Actually made by Condor: http://www.condoroutdoor.com/ma40h2opouch.aspx It's really aces, though. I've got a tall 34 ozflat top bottle in there, has extra zip pocket, and molle on it. I I mentioned, I have an additional small molle pouch attached to side away from camera, too. - OS

Gabby Gifford's husband goes out and buys an AR15 lol
Oh Shoot replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not given, AFAIK. I asked that too. - OS -
Just built one... Had to drill out rear take down detent/spring channel, too small; and had to sand down inside buffer stop recess, too small for spring/detent to release when compressed. Other than that, LPK installed fine. Fit to upper is very good; maybe a bit too good, can't remove either takedown pin by hand, at least yet. - OS

Oh Shoot replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not really. Perfectly legal to buy a firearm as a gift to non-prohibited person under federal law, and you are still to check that you are the actual transferee/buyer. Directions on the 4473 for question 11a state this clearly. - OS -
Question about the TICS process
Oh Shoot replied to pitt2magic's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Exactly right. Can put any number of firearms on one 4473, but when it is submitted, it is closed out. If two or more handguns are purchased at same time (or within 5 consecutive business days), FFL must file an additional form 3310, but buyer has no input into that and generally doesn't even know about it. - OS -

No, they should be fine too, as they are a gravity knife, which is also defined as a switchblade in TCA. - OS -
And staff and faculty. - OS

Yep, far as I know, exactly the same guns. - OS

China. They're just wrong, unless quality has gone south since I got mine. I've been using one for at least two years, have molle attachments all over it, includes various emergency stuff always loaded, water bottle pouch, etc. Have water bladder inside, but don't use it, rely on the bottle in side molle pouch. There's even a smaller pouch attached to the backside of the bottle pouch, which sticks out to the front when shouldered, for immediate access to small stuff like Sansa, eyeglasses, whatnot. Walk 8 mile round trip to Y with it 2-3 times per week. Also haul groceries 2.5 mile round trip quite a bit, have it loaded up to around 50 lbs total frequently. Been rain drenched, sweat drenched, sun drenched, gets crammed into small lockers, etc. Haven't had the first problem. - OS

Note that all the gun restrictions are strongly "no" except universal background checks. All polls show same, even in the most conservative districts in US. We're gonna have that. - OS

I had a Cobra in .38, one of the few guns I've ever sold off: Heavy, barely could cock one handed, 50 lb trigger pull, possible to fire when loading if not on half cock, might hit COM up to 10 feet. Other than that, fine little firearm, always went boom. :) - OS

Far as IRS, your FFL biz is just another biz. Quite simple assuming you are sole proprietorship and have no business equipment to depreciate and what not. The buying and selling part and transfer biz is all quite simple. Oughtta be able to handle it fine with TaxAct or any other freebie that allows Schedule C. TaxAct will walk you through every step with simple question after question. As far as any additional accounting that BATF requires, wouldn't know, but surely that info would be in whatever they gave you with initial license? But income taxes are all purely handled on your 1040 or 1040a between you and IRS. - OS

Why the "haven't taken possession of it yet" comment? No waiting time in AZ, right? - OS -
??? There's no paper work involved to make your own firearm from scratch. Unless you want to manufacture them as a business.

Whoops, NY SAFE act bans pump shotguns
Oh Shoot replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah. Depends on what they'll enforce as a "magazine" I guess. Or if there's a definition in the code. Though the technical nomenclature of a shotgun or rifle tube is "magazine" or "magazine tube" it's not what lawmakers think of as one, you know, like a "clip" :). - OS
