  1. I prefer my PSA lowers to be out of stock directly from PSA:   http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-ar15-lower.html   ;)   - OS
  2.   For the most part, I've never seen anybody claim that there's a 3rd party firing pin that's worth a crap. Lots of reports the commonly available ones crapping out in short order on PerfectUnion.   I was just reading about one not long ago, though, that claimed to be aces -- comes purposefully too long and you have to grind it down to spec to fit your particular bolt.   Some folks have removed their pins and sent the rifle into Ruger for "repair", just to get a spare.   - OS
  3.     Nothing illegal about that under federal law. You don't need a license to resell commercially made ammo.   IRS might be interested if he's not reporting the income, though.   - OS
  4. I have both.   The AR is a sleek, modular, efficient, cold blooded machine, but the Mini has soul. I love 'em both, but the Mini is loveable, a real traditional "rifle".   Average AR is somewhat more accurate than even the newly designed Mini, but with battle sights they'll both do the same thing, put bullets in torso at the same ranges.   Mini has a decent chance of doing it longer without cleaning or re-lubing than an AR, unless you break a firing pin or something you can't replace yourself because you can't stock the spare part.   - OS
  5.   Glad y'all 'splained, it was indeed a great hoot.   Hershmeister, you gotta learn to sell the product! ;)   - OS
  6.   Ongoing reporting happens constantly. Not fussing, just that even if there's some new info in there, would fit fine in some of the existing threads:   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/62863-feinsteins-gun-ban-bill-facing-defeat/   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/62875-assault-weapons-ban-dropped-from-senate-gun-control-bill/   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/62876-awb-and-national-high-capacity-magazine-ban-dropped-woohoo/   - OS
  7.   Is it really a croc, or a gator?
  8.   C'mon, several threads already...
  9.   Well, you realize that once you have HCP, you can carry an arsenal in car, all loaded, extra ammo where ever, right? (as long as long guns don't have one in chamber).       Also, btw, the new parking lot law doesn't kick in till July 1, ya know I guess.   - OS
  10.   After all but French kissing O after Sandy, he's certainly one of the Dem's favorite Republicans right now, I'll say that.   'Course, O, after promising quick and vigilant aid with no red tape, turned his back on that whole mess and it turned into a Katrina type futch up, but somehow we didn't hear so much about that from the MSM.   - OS
  11.   New law? Permit holders can have loaded guns, including long guns (without one in chamber).   Existing law? Non student adult with unloaded gun, with ammo not in immediate vicinity of firearm -- locking either up is not mentioned in TCA.   Generally conceded that passenger area for one, trunk for the other is excellent. If no trunk, as far separated as possible, and certainly also locking one or the other in case leaves no doubt.   - OS
  12.   Remember, Chris Christie says that NJ gun laws are "about right".
  13. Group reaction to a particularly raunchy Russian borscht fart, I'd say.   - OS
  14.   Yep, you have to be Canadian to buy Chinese guns and ammo.
  15.   I ain't sitting through it, but did he mention chastity belts?
  16.   I built up my "hoard" over the same time span you could have too, thank you very much.   Anybody significantly adding beau coup ammo to stash over the last couple months has much deeper pockets than moi.   - OS
  17.   AUS-8/8a done well is a very good knife blade. Cold Steel does a fine job with it, too, like on their current Voyager models, whichever manufacturer actually makes it for them.   Who knows, they might even use the same contractor since both the Voyager and the RAT 1 come from Taiwan (I guess the model 2 does also?)   - OS
  18. Really nice, George. You seem to be able to jump into 'bout anything that interests you and come out with something cool and functional. Definitely need you around when EOTWAWKI hits. ;) Maybe you should think about knocking some of them out on eBay, real dearth of them there. Or a BX-25 holder too, about only one I've seen is like this: You could probably improve on it. Or maybe a double one that uses Molle straps or something. - OS
  19.   I have one, and indeed there is a RG stamped on the backside. I grabbed it as a spare through Sportsman's Guide at the beginning of the panic after Sandy Hook when parts starting drying up, $134.   It wasn't billed on SG as any brand at all, but specs looked good, M16 carrier. When it arrived sure enough was R Guns in plastic hang package.   - OS
  20. Wow, so sorry to hear that. Never meet him but figgered I would at some point what with the survivalist gatherings he was promoting and whatnot, and always have enjoyed his posts. He sort of tuned out late last summer, seems, have wondered more than once about him -- but surely hate that a bad injury is why I'm hearing about him now.   Let me know if there's anything practical I could help with, I'm free to run around the area most days.   - OS
  21.   Just noticed you're the Gary Slider from handgunlaw.us! (I'm bad about not reading sigs and was beginning to think you were a student writing a paper) :)   Welcome, and a general thank you very much for that site. I often recommend it and always mention that the site stays up on things, often even quicker than the actual state gov sites do when changes occur. So now I see why!   At any rate, I'll let others chime in, but yeah, the above sounds pert gud. ;)   As far as the "valid permit holder", you might mention there that includes ALL permit holders from any state, as TN recognizes all other states' permits (which fact I know you do indeed have documented under the Tennessee PDF). Or maybe that's not even necessary, your call of course.   Again, welcome to TGO.   - OS   edit: check back around 6-9 pm when the place really heats up, you'll probably have lots of input by then.
  22.   Sounds like an accurate enough summation to me.   The biggest change it really makes is that permit holders can stash their loaded heaters in their vehicle on school property, including students. Even out of state students. Of course, they too could fire staff or expel students, but I'm betting in the case of colleges the fear of bad press will be enough to deter that.   At any rate, this removes the only felony a permit holder could get for mere possession of a loaded legal weapon in his vehicle in this state, and that's relatively significant.   As far as getting fired or expelled, the rock solid defense is simply "mum's the word".   - OS
  23.   Here's one of them:   http://www.centredaily.com/2013/03/17/3543279/colo-sheriff-refuses-to-enforce.html   Ah, here's some more:   http://www.humanevents.com/2013/03/19/colorado-sheriffs-rebel-against-new-gun-control-laws/   - OS
  24.   Mag ban bill, end to private sales, and a fee for background checks are already done deal there, guv to sign them tomorrow...you talking about some additional ones?   - OS
