  1.   Not prohibited in the act to receive the switchblade, only to ship it.   - OS
  2.   Actually in "real" life that would be pretty significant, though. Anybody in your group that dropped dead from heart attack or stroke, whatever, if you didn't know it at the time, is suddenly a surprise zed. Hell, would be especially unsafe to sleep with anybody ever again, considering how many people seem to die in their sleep.   Note: this is example of post-suspension of belief valid topic of discussion, not "over thinking". ;) ;)   - OS
  3.   Can't carry any knife there really, even at at college.   - OS
  4.   They could decide that bad press for expelling students or firing staff/profs over legal behavior isn't worth it.   There's also a bit of added nuance for state universities, taking TN funds, yet zapping TN residents who are in compliance with a TN law precisely enacted to give them the right to do it?     - OS
  5. Thread revival, so I'm chime in again. I love them also, have two, a blued and a stainless. Irony is that I don't shoot them as well as my XDs, but love the look and feel of them. Here's Evil Black and Purty Blonde. :) - OS
  6.   What I just can't grok exactly is why Ruger requires fitting of every dang firing pin to each bolt. Actually, to each rifle. Meaning how can there be enough difference to matter if their manufacturing tolerances are even relatively consistent.   I mean here you've got numerous companies making AR bolts, receivers, barrels, firing pins, and you can mix and match any of them, and have never heard of one issue of firing pins being too short to ignite the round, or too long to puncture the primer.   - OS
  7.     JAB is closer to what I meant. I'm a general zombie fan myself, have seen every episode of the WD, and have opined here often...   What I meant was over-thinking minor nuances in the plot that go nowhere, but especially regarding the "science" and physiology of the Zeds themselves, relative time frames of how folks turn, differences between live-to-zed and dead-to-zed, etc.   Point being, once you suspend disbelief enough to accept that a dead body can reanimate and trot around for years with no fuel source and not even decompose, heads operate independently from the rest of the body, etc, it's a bit much to debate perceived inconsistencies with the details.   - OS
  8.   Big ass magnet.
  9.     Yep, the AWB and the mag limit will be offered as separate amendments to whatever he bill turns into. Can't quite grok what the bill will actually be, since those were the only two things in it, along with all the provisions for enforcing them.   The background check thing is already in committee as a stand alone, or at least one is, dunno if that's gonna be THE one.   - OS
  10.   Memphis and Nashville are already big time blue, at least nationally:   2008: Shelby 63-35%, Davidson 59-38% Obama 2012: Shelby 62-36%, Davidson 58-39% Obama   Chilling.   - OS
  11.   You'll need to send money to opponents in CO to help any.   - OS
  12.   Marlin .357 and .44 are Ballard rifling these days. Changed back from MicroGroove in '96 or '97. Not sure which others, but it says on current models on Marlin site and apparently those that went back to Ballard all happened right around those years.   By the way, the gurus on MarlinForums say cast bullets in microgroove do fine if you cast slighty oversize, however one does that.   This little treatise re MG, Ballard, and casting seems pretty authoritative:   http://www.leverguns.com/articles/fryxell/microgrove-barrels.htm   - OS
  13. Much bluster from Feinstein, Biden, Blumenthal, and some others on the airwaves today... all swear it ain't over on the AWB/mag limit. They predict  the "mainstream" will prevail on their congressional mouthpieces. - OS
  14. I'll have to join a carnival if I get much fatter.
  15. Youse guys are way over-thinking this stuff .. it's a zombie show.
  16. Does Becker sell the BK2 with the Micarta scales, meaning, thought you had to buy the scales separately. Like Kong, bemused, they offer different texture finishes on blade? - OS
  17. Let's go shootin.
  18. You do a lot of mag dumps with no heat shield in that handguard? ;) - OS
  19. I gotta drag out the Minis a few times before I run out of .223. They eject with great enthusiasm and seem to be Garufa heat seekers, even 3 or 4 positions down! - OS
  20.   Well, hazmat fee is like $20 bucks or more or varies by weight, dunno, so you definitely didn't have to pay it.   edit: here's Natchez' statement (who most of us can't buy from, sigh):   "Ammunition only requires hazardous shipping charges when shipped Air Service - there is no Hazardous Material Charge when shipping Ammunition Ground Service. If you choose to have an order for ammunition shipped by UPS Next Day Air , 2nd Day Air, or 3 Day Select, there will be a $37.50 Hazardous Materials Handling Fee.)   When shipping powder or primers on UPS Ground Service, a $27.50 UPS Hazardous Material Charge will be added to your order per 50lb box of hazardous material. The Maximum single box weight for UPS Hazardous Shipping is 50 pounds.   You can ship up to 50lbs per box of powder and primers mixed together. If you order more than 50lbs of powders and primers mixed, a second $27.50 UPS hazard charge will incur for up to 50lbs in an additional box."   - OS
  21.   Unless something has changed fairly recently,  no hazmat for completed small arms cartridges via Ground service, only for Air.   Has to have "ORM-D, cartridges, small arms" label on side of box,  which you can print by hand with Sharpie or whatever.   - OS
  22.   Yeah, shooting with Mikey today, the plastic fantastic lower did fine, 50 rounds or so through it. Most folks probably wouldn't notice it was polymer just handed to them unless they looked at stamping and knew the score.   Mark, Dole's trigger magic doesn't work on the Omni (he has a couple of them too, Mike). Grip channel is not even drilled all the way through, let alone tapped. Even Gordon himself doesn't want to fool with that, and don't blame him on unknown properties of the polymer -- definitely wouldn't want to remove any material from it, especially toward the ass end.   - OS
  23. I actually bought a new box of Peters maybe a year ago from Sportsman's Warehouse in 'Nooga. Dunno if it was sort of a commemorative issue or what, as hadn't seen it used as brand for many many years from Remington. Next trip, 'bout 7 weeks later, no more, and never seen again. 40gr. lead roundnose, says "Peters Cartridge Division, Remington Arms Company". $19.99 which I considered a bit high at the time; sigh, those were the days. Nifty collection by the way! - OS
  24.   Good for you, really. $119 ain't too bad right now. Hell, I settled for an Omni not long ago, was $112 after transfer/TICS.   - OS
  25.   Good carry handle sights are generally more than $50.   The Magpul is just fine in your price range, I run it on 3 of mine, make sure is a "Gen 2".  If you opt for it, probably won't do better than The Zon, 'bout $45 w/ free slowish shipping:   http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=magpul+mbus+rear+sight   Actually, here's black one on De Bay for same price, might get it a bit quicker, or not. I've used the seller before, just fine:   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Magpul-MBUS-Rear-Flip-Up-Backup-Sight-GEN-2-II-Black-MAG248-BLK-/350692202770?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51a6e25912       - OS
