Just noticed this popping up at Wally's the other day. I priced the 9mm and it was under .21/round out the door. For those who don't know, this is steel cased, but standard copper brass jacketed lead bullet, unlike the Ruskie stuff. I was on foot with already good bit of weight to carry home, so didn't grab any, but will next time (these are 150 round boxes). - OS

Question on trust/across state lines (non class III)
Oh Shoot replied to Sam1's topic in General Chat
Well, just tell her not to ever claim that it is hers. A trust can't override federal or state law anyway. For example, a trust doesn't make it possible to own/possess NFA firearms in states where they are forbidden period, etc. - OS -
Question on trust/across state lines (non class III)
Oh Shoot replied to Sam1's topic in General Chat
To my knowledge, a trust has no affect on GCA firearm laws. Whether it does or not, it is not federally unlawful for anyone to stash a GCA (non-NFA) firearm out of state, or even to loan the firearm to another non-prohibited person out of state for sporting purposes, as long as state law also doesn't conflict. Certainly no TN law against it, and though I don't know for sure, almost certainly no KY one either. - OS -
Just seems no rhyme or reason to it. Last time I did renewal by mail, option to get a dupe was included. - OS

Two threads similar, here's what I posted in the other one https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/101269-tn-dept-of-safety-hs-rolls-out-new-hcp-course-outline/?do=findComment&comment=1432627 Hopefully, the AG will receive the precise pertinent questions. - OS

Grip safety was a selling point for me when I first started carrying IWB. Don't want a manual safety on a carry gun, but liked the extra bit of margin with the grip safety just for reholstering and whatnot. Unlike some 1911s, the XD's is under such low tension that holding with as light a pressure as possible to still be able to effectively fire it engages the safety. Of course, you can always come up with some wild "tactical" scenario I suppose where it wouldn't work, like needing to fire upside down with only two fingers or whatever. Far as debris preventing engagement, well, anything is possible, but would think the odds are near astronomical. Best I remember, they were doing a mag rebate at that time also, which was another plus for going with the XD Subcompact at the time. You can seldom if ever get a new XD mag for less than about 25 clams. - OS

Something to do with TapaTalk I guess. I only use a puter to surf, so can't help. - OS

One odd thing is that in his profile, the military, LE and etc all show "1", instead of "yes" like others' profiles - OS

Meant to mention, I did indeed email my rep, Eddie Smith about this matter. ================= "... this isn't of overwhelming importance, but is just an example of idiotic departmental overreach, apparently due to some legal functionary within -- just one of those things that really sticks in my craw. Would like you to request AG Slatery to render an official opinion on TCA, and hopefully set the TN DOS straight on it. Background: Fellow on our forum who teaches the Handgun Safety Course recently got new teaching materials from the HCP division of DOS, including a PowerPoint presentation to be shown during the class. Included is a slide which addresses the current provision in TCA 39-17-1307 regarding the exception for firearms possessed in vehicle. The slide, attached to this email as .png and .jpg and if needed for access, posted on my domain at: http://www.macmcdougald.com/misc/DOS-21.PNG http://www.macmcdougald.com/misc/DOS-21.jpg The admonition within, "must be 21 or older to possess handgun" is just flat erroneous, under Federal or TN state law. The instructor on forum said he got explanation that the basis for that view was that it is unlawful for an FFL to sell a handgun to one less than 21 years old. Which of course is true, but has nothing to do with the fact that it is not unlawful for an 18 year old to acquire a handgun via legal private sale or gifting in this state, and that of course is not prohibited under Federal law either. At any rate, since we of the hoi polloi cannot request action or even an opinion from the AG, would you please contact him about the matter, and submit the following for opinion ? If you see it as appropriate you may certainly simply forward him this email if you like, fine with me. ---------------------------- 1. Does section (e) of TCA 39-17-1307 (exception for firearm possession in vehicle) include all adults, or only 21 year olds? 2. Does section (e) of 39-17-1307 (exception for firearm possession in vehicle) make any distinction between long guns and handguns? 3. Except regarding the HCP process (and federal law regarding purchase from an FFL), are there any different stipulations under TN law at all for an 18-20 year-old to possess a handgun than for a 21 year-old? -------------------------- I'm sure you're plenty busy again there in Nashville, but would certainly appreciate your contacting AG Slatery regarding this issue as your earliest convenience. Best Regards, Mac ========================= He replied, ============= Mac, I apologize for the delay in responding to you. We’ve been trying to finalize all of our bills this week as bill filing deadline is Thursday. I will get on submitting this for an AG’s opinion. Have a great Thursday, Eddie ================= So we'll see. - OS

Idiot of the year goes to these guys (and it's only February)

It is not illegal to carry into a police station in TN per se. - OS -
Here are options at SIG's site, click P320 and caliber to see them. If you can find them in stock, I've seen prices about 50 clams lower at dealers: https://www.sigsauer.com/store/parts/conversion-kits.html - OS

Well, the South did pretty good the first half of the War of Northern Aggression too. - OS

I use a double key ring with belt loop, with everything dropping down into top of pocket, fits fine for me with that. But if it's a bit too big for the way you do your keys, just carry separately in pocket. The switch is quite stiff, won't turn on with just getting normal pocket pressure from sitting or whatever, even with other stuff in pocket. - OS

Unbelievable game outcome, btw. Too unbelievable, I think it was rigged. - OS

Quite the opposite, opened show with God Bless America/This Land is Your Land, "flies" down to earth, then wildly staged medley of her megahits. - OS

I use it all the time. Low power adequate to see close up when I need to. Checked out the high function on a night walk home soon after I got it, lit up greenway path and surroundings way way ahead for well over an hour, great peripheral coverage too. "Only" 300 lumens and no tactical strobe, but if I need that, I carry a different flash source that should suffice. - OS

Speaking of which, I dumped everything for the Surefire Sidekick about 6 months ago, couldn't be more pleased. https://www.amazon.com/SureFire-Sidekick-300-Lumen-Ultra-Compact-Triple-Output/dp/B0177H4S5Q best price 2 or 3 bucks cheaper on eBay actually. - OS

Since AFAIK none have ever changed a policy or law and just add you to de gummit's email list, I think folks just see them as a big meh anymore. I see these two made it easily. Will the Trump admin even respond? "Divest or put in a blind trust all of the President's business and financial assets" "Immediately release Donald Trump's full tax returns, with all information needed to verify emoluments clause compliance." - OS

Yep. Been surprised any number of times when you check tracking from vendors that show another state (though most just identify as "USA") that the shipment origin was one of the TN distribution centers. The packaging is pretty distinctive too, sometimes uses Amazon tape, sometimes not but all similar. - OS
