  1. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/38749-honest-question/   Basically, to be ready for anything that could realistically happen, be ready for Zombie Apocalypse.   Actually, you need to be ready for more, as your neighbors will be faster than the average zed.   - OS
  2.   Yup. Don't think I've ever seen them for less than $21 period.
  3. Wowzer! Kudos to his skill.
  4.   Well, actually, a whopping 51-60% of eligible voters generally do in presidential elections.   - OS
  5.   I don't see one in Knoxville till May. ??
  6.   There is also no national presidential election called for either.  Only that each state select a candidate, doesn't even specify how.   I think it would be very healthy overall if the only thing the folks could vote on were their Reps. It would focus all the wasted American Idol type frenzy on just one person for each voter -- and a much greater likelihood of holding the bastard's feet to the fire.   - OS
  7.   That was previous Guv, not Haslam.   - OS
  8.   Gotcha.  Of course a single short hike is quite different from generally just getting around, or days to weeks long trek to get somewhere specific.   And of course, most folks wouldn't have option of  uninhabited ridge lines for even  that 9 miles.   - OS
  9.   IF you can find a new lower/LPK/receiver extension (or a completed lower), you could go ahead and get barrel and make a pistol first, though. And could be shooting it while you're waiting on the stamps.   Note: but you can't legally make a pistol from the receiver on the complete rifle you're getting, assuming it was first transferred or built as a rifle.   - OS
  10. I've walked a lot of railroad tracks in my time, still do some.   Would have advantages but also drawbacks in SHTF situation.   Drawbacks include:   - Pretty tough walking along much of them: once you get out of urban area, often banked on sides with no flat place to walk beside tracks and you can't walk on the banked sides with the large rocks. So you walk on the tracks -- if you've never done much of it, can tell ya it ain't no stroll in the park. The cross tie spacing doesn't seen to fit anyone's gait, so you'll be treading on the gravel in between the ties half the time. Really need to watch your footing, unstable gravel and other debris, super easy to turn an ankle, especially weighted down with a pack. Besides being really rough on footwear in short period of time, a stumble can take ya right out of the ole SHTF walking game. Having to watch your step so carefully, your situational awareness is reduced, which leads to the other major drawback:   - Often narrow passages once out of the city, often right up to woods/brush, perfect ambush territory. There are already plenty of hobo jungles along railroad tracks, imagine what it might be like once everybody is hungry and desperate. Then again, I guess you could say that about most any road, too.     Nice idea, but unless you want to just get from one side of the Smokies to the other, or same in other large state/federal forest areas, there just ain't a way to "stay in the woods" for long. You're always gonna be on someone's land, there's always gonna be a town, etc. And there will be plenty of other travelers off the roads hanging out, spending night, foraging, whatever, so you couldn't simply necessarily walk out of sight of but still near the road with impunity either.   - OS
  11.   Sorry. I have feet of clay, too.   - OS
  12.   Your Profile/Client Area/Purchases will show duration of your benefactor status.   Also, I got an auto generated email invoice last time around before mine had expired.   - OS
  13. You can just about always find feet of clay if you look closely enough at most any public figure.   - OS
  14.   The GOP would have to take over 6 seats to have a 51 majority, although there are 2 independent Senators, King in Maine and Sanders in Vermont, so maybe just four seats would do it for most purposes, dunno. 4 Dems are retiring, but their districts are very blue, so probably no turnovers there.   Assuming the GOP loses no seats too, of course, but I haven't seen any press about any of those being in real jeopardy, while there does seem to be 3-6 Dem seats that are iffy, depending on who you believe at this point.   - OS
  15.   Correct. All current mags must be registered.   Dunno if bill specifies how that is to be regulated or not. Certainly, if they don't get marked with a state serial number, could simply say you had a lot more than you do, so you can pick up more in the future from out of state.   - OS
  16.     Me three. I got the "safety comment" fine.   - OS
  17. That funky character craps the link for me, but here is pic: - OS
  18. So sorry for your loss.   Also, though, can't resist asking: what circumstances were involved with falling out of a plane?   - OS
  19. And it fired "trounds". Unreal. - OS
  20.   Is there some kind of remnant of the NG in the comics?   - OS
  21.   What's NG?
  22.   Must be especially flattering photo, as looks pert nice to moi.
  23.     Are there any of the 535 on The Hill you actually approve of? Maybe Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, and that's about it? Maybe one or two more?   - OS
  24.   News to me, really. Like, the Big K stores I guess? Where is one, Broadway maybe? (it's the only one I can think of right off)   - OS
  25. Dang, there are some on here I've never even heard of before:   http://www.guns.com/2013/01/24/handgun-ugly-pistol-club/   - OS
