  1.   Well, it was more fun when you could do a pretty nice one for $750 or less just 4-5 months ago. :(   - OS
  2.   Figured you probably knew, but lots of folks don't think of it. Like me, and not too long ago.   Even though I well knew the rule regarding getting to 16" barrel to not violate SBR, when I assembled my 10.5" barrel pistol, and it happened to come out to 26.25", I thought hey, maybe I'll try a VFG on it, and even bought the grip before somebody mentioned the permanent flash hider requirement to me regarding OAL. Duh on moi.   - OS
  3.   Except it supports Biden's "all you need is a shotgun" mantra.   - OS
  4.   Currently, not every state's permit qualifies for substitution of background check on the 4473.   The wording in this section is quite clumsy and general, as it is in several, but looks like there's room for that same provision to stand.   Of course, lots of the verbiage will undoubtedly change along the way, we'll see.   Also, there are lots of state laws that are in conflict with this section, including Tennessee's, so don't know how that would play out. Not to mention the fact that if no background check were run, TN couldn't charge that 10 clams either, eh?   There are plenty of things in this first draft that haven't even begun to have been considered yet.   - OS
  5. I assume you mean it's sickening that people are willing to sign it. I mean, right?   Have seen any number of surveys through the years, where majority of people disagreed with most of the Bill of Rights, didn't know they were rights we even had, stuff like that. And it's getting worse.   Amazing we're still actually even walking around without leashes.   - OS
  6.   I believe 2.ooooh was just giving an example of the types of detail in the field involved in the two types of reporting.   However, the CA does have your street address in their database. They showed them when they first fired it up in '08, then after a while decided to hide that field.   - OS
  7.   Well, I  must admit that so far, the proposed checks actually do not outright ban private sales, to my amazement.  Although while the gunshow part is only an inconvenience, the "online" part is insane on several levels.   But if it stays that way and passes, or doesn't pass at all,  I'll be very glad indeed to have this particular prediction proven wrong. For now, of course.   - OS
  8.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDWkYpADpOU   Also, replayed and discussed on The Five:   http://video.foxnews.com/v/2289428404001/collective-outrage-over-msnbc-promo?intcmp=related?playlist_id=929831930001   - OS
  9.   No. Has something or other to do with time limit on background check determination after a 4 year period of State's record compilation and grant money to do it and some such complicated and probably boondoggle mess.   At any rate, it's not a "waiting period" for the buyer.   - OS     edit: hey mods, probably oughtta merge this before they both take off ?,   with:   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/64045-full-text-of-the-public-safety-and-second-amendment-rights-protection-act/   edit2: Threads merged, thanks.
  10.   Yeah, that and the fact that lots of "law abiding folks" would look forward to picking off "the real baddies" from their rooftops. Big game hunting would rather pale by comparison.   - OS
  11.   Yeah, my understanding that the "appeal" or "review" is actually the same thing in reality, a court date. Thanks for the detailed response.   - OS
  12.   Yep, whole thread started last night:   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/64045-full-text-of-the-public-safety-and-second-amendment-rights-protection-act/   Surprisingly relatively little comment in it yet, though.   - OS
  13.   You keep suggesting they violated a TN state law. I asked before, what was it?   I can find no statute where they could be charged separately from federal law.   - OS
  14.   As much as most everyone here agrees, including myself, the reality is that the fed does regulate arms ever since 1934. And not only by law, but from Presidential Orders and import/export rules neither of which were even enacted by votes of our representatives.   And just think, this result from a citizenry which basically originally went to war over a couple of tax hikes and gun confiscation.   - OS
  15.   And as I understand it, there's going to be votes on a bunch of amendments too, including assault weapon and hi-cap bans, maybe Blumenthal's ammo restrictions, whatever, as apparently none of these will go through committee process but will be offered during the discussion phase.   - OS
  16.   Whenever, there will just be another La La Land replacement of same ilk.   - OS
  17.   Note that if length of a muzzle device is needed to reach the 26" OAL, it must be permanently affixed to count.   - OS
  18. I'll eventually see it I'm sure, but don't think I'll be able to suspend disbelief enough for the premise to really dig it.   - OS
  19.   That is the appeal process, you have to file it or you don't get it, heard in court, not at just their office or something.   Kwik filed it, had date set, then date put off by snow, then by the time second date was set he had started his separate suit and just let the HCP appeal slide.   - OS
  20. Boom Boom, now 53, is in the clubhouse, currently 1 stroke back after second round.   Damn, he's been so close several times in his dotage :), sure wish he could pull it off.   Tiger currently 1 back of Freddy, his resurrection seems solid.   - OS
  21.   I should has stressed "with competent counsel", who probably wouldn't have let him open his mouth. :)
  22.   And seems to be fine and/or 5 years max whammy for that particular section. Can't find the fines right off, but seems they start with $10K, but not sure.   - OS
  23.   Minor note: it is legal under federal law to personally buy or sell long gun in any state if transferred through FFL. Only handguns must be received in state of buyer's residency. Not that it matters in this case, just clarifying.   - OS
  24.   Better quit buying all that cheap Rem double naught, Sluggers, and birdshot hundred packs too.   - OS
  25.   Well, it was idiotic not to show at the HCP appeal hearing at all, regardless of what grounds he would choose to present. His challenge regarding constitutionality was a separate suit, and he chose to pursue that only.   If he had just appeared at the HCP appeal with competent counsel, as did Yeager, don't really necessarily see why his HCP wouldn't have been reinstated also.   - OS
