  1.   Well, worst they can do is expel you. And under what bizarre situation would your vehicle ever be searched in the first place?   And this may well bring up an interesting point legally too, at least for institutions that take state money. Can they discipline a person for merely adhering to state law? Can any other state institution?   Unlike many normal employers, universities have exact employee rules. Can they fire you for any reason, or only breaking those rules? Can they have a rule against something specifically allowed under state law, again, especially ones who derive funding from the state?     - OS
  2.   Well, there goes about half the votes just here on TGO, including moi, just for example.   And  other GOP majorities, like seniors (live with kids, RVs, assisted living, etc), perhaps majority of single and career military ...   Hard to say which side of the red/blue would be hit harder...especially since only 60% max vote now at all, and 35% on midterms.   - OS
  3.   Prob is the earned income credit/child credit folks are not even fudging, perfectly legit -- that's just the way it's set up. Just another form of welfare most people don't understand they're paying for with their own tax money.   - OS
  4.   You're disqualified until you fix your TapaTalk. ;)
  5. Maybe so. Lots of complexity there though. So only previous year's tax paid would count? Like, some people have to pay taxes some years and some years they don't.     Wait a minute. People file to get a "return" without having ever paid a cent in taxes, the earned income and child credit loopholes. Lots of them. Just the type people you do NOT want to vote, I'm sure?   - OS
  6.   Doesn't make any sense, hopefully goes nowhere.   It's legal to gift a firearm to a minor for lawful sporting purposes. Sure, he could go nuts before he's 18 and kill somebody. Are you still culpable if he does it at 18 years old?   Should you also be culpable if your minor kid you gave a car to kills somebody with it? How about a pellet gun, or pocketknife, or golf club, or baseball bat?   - OS
  7.   Assume you mean federal income tax. Can't imagine what kind of nightmare bureaucratic interface that would require each year to determine that.   - OS
  8.   Commonly said but not necessarily true. Legal to buy and sell without a license to enhance a "collection or hobby",  just not for "livelihood". Clearly differentiated in definitions of being "engaged in the business" of selling firearms in the USC.   - OS
  9.   Couldn't say, man. Arkansas is dedicated to ammo, KY supposedly at full capacity. Includes Marlin and H&R too, ya know. So don't buy any of them either. :)   - OS
  10.   Type your text you want to be the link, highlight it, then use the link icon for actual URL.
  11.   I've plinked a bit with somebody else's conversion, but never spent any real suss time with a conversion on 5.56 upper. But I have dedicated CMMG upper -- haven't had it long, but can certainly tell you so far it's at least as accurate as my 10/22's or Marlin 60.   And since the ID of barrel and 1:16 twist is optimized for 22LR and a 5.56 barrel isn't, I don't see how it couldn't be more accurate and consistent, just trusting my limited knowledge of physics. Plus, "everybody" says they are, too. ;)   - OS
  12.   Contracts have dates. It's not like, "okay we'll get right on them in 3 years after we move, build a new plant and retool, get all our new employees and logistics in place" and whatnot.   - OS
  13. Yeah, if that's a CMMG conversion, you only need to change the adapter to fit a real .22LR AR type barrel. From adapter: to the collar - OS
  14. Nashville's own, Brandt Snedeker is the other leader, btw.
  15.   I'm thinking it might be fitting Karma for Eldrick Tont Woods to finish his career with 17 majors, myself. ;)   - OS
  16. Another of the greats departs, insanely gifted, unique. WWII Marine, too, which you'd never guess.   RIP wild man.   - OS
  17.   It will be on Nashville news: "Terrorist Gun Group Distributes Hundreds of Weapons of Mass Destruction!"
  18. El Pato tied for lead going into Sunday.  Love it when a hard livin' fat guy succeeds! :)   Freddy faded, moved the wrong way on moving day.   - OS
  19.   Hey, if they're made in TN, just ship 'em out to end users, first test of our Firearm Freedom Act!   Yeah, right.   - OS
  20. Folks, to make it clear, this vid is by Mark Dice, a conservative if not bordering on looney right wing author and pundit who has done a number of "petitions", like this one, or to repeal the 1st Amendment, etc, just to point out folks' idiocy. He even got any number to folks to sign a "I Am a Moron" petition once, just to show that some folks will sign anything without even understanding it.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Dice   http://markdice.com/   http://www.youtube.com/user/MarkDice   - OS
  21.   Definitely hearing a whoosh now.
  22.   That was gonna be my only area of comment, that regardless of shootability, all that rigmarole just to attach a bipod to barrel just looks like a Rube Goldberg nightmare.   I have Harris adapter on one of my Minis, with factory gas block, and it's been fine. If that forearm has space enough below the forearm liner to securely mount a swing stud, that's the way to go.   I meant to do a sort of custom install of one on my Ranch wooden stock, but got the Harris on sale, so just went with that.   Nifty looking Mini, once you get that worked out though!   - OS
  23.   ??? Folks from the whole state can't use the same LGS, ya know.
  24.   Exactly so. Magpul has 200 folks and doesn't really manufacture anything itself beyond assembling prefab components. Packaging and shipping is probably its biggest in-house operation.  It's just an entirely different type of manufacturing model, and surely much more "portable".   Plus you'll notice that all Remington expansions have been out of what's become enemy territory. Hell, they moved the headquarters to NC years ago, plus the plant in KY. And ammo is in AR.   - OS
  25.   Well, c'mon. Only reason he had to take a drop was because he hit a great shot, but bounced off the frigging pin into the creek.   USGA Rule 33.7 allows committee discretion on disqualification and it was also explained that under the Master's Committee policy (enacted two years ago) a player may be allowed to stay in the tournament if a rules dispute was based on television evidence rather than called by an official during real time play.   I'd say under all the circumstances, the ruling was not only legitimate, but still quite harsh, and puts him 5 strokes back now. And all for being unlucky enough to hit the pin on a great shot that wound up costing him 3 strokes, and likely 4, as that shot ordinarily would have been a pretty good birdie opportunity; hell, it could have even gone in.   Also, the 14 year old Chinese kid was penalized a stroke for slow play, but still made the cut. Some interesting stuff this year.   - OS
