I figure Bill will do another stint as Guv and go for Lamar's vacated seat in 2020. At the least. - OS

I think if you'll check closer, those were individual franchise owners that got busted, and Pilot agreed to reimburse customers, but didn't have to -- and the managers actually paid the fines. Basic point being, it was only a few stations, and simply a much too penny-ante a deal for corporate to have had anything to do with. Would be like me pulling shenanigans that would risk bad press and possible civil and/or criminal penalties to screw you out of 5 bucks. - OS

A bit more info, I noticed first link didn't even mention IRS: http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/apr/15/fbi-locks-down-pilot-headquarters/

Oh, I don't think you'll find anything like that in TCA, and there's not a "default ban" on firearm carry any more than there is on mustaches. Just more that residential private property owner has pretty much exclusive rights to allow or deny most anything. Assuming they know about it, that is. ;) - OS

Then instructor wasn't following state course requirements, at least up till change in target size. No points. 48 shots. 12 each at 3,7,15 yards, and 12 at instructor's choice. (distances with the original size target, dunno about now). 70% pass, which is 34 hits. If any of that has changed, I'd like to hear it from an instructor. One posted here about 2 months ago saying only the size of target and corresponding distances have changed. The actual course requirements are not published on TNDOS site, only the requirements for the range itself for certification, is apparently only in hard copy packet to the instructors, so can't verify online. Seems always varied by instructor whether he counted only inside the rings or anywhere on silhouette, but little matter as never heard of one who wouldn't let you shoot until you made the grade. Only people who just couldn't do it and failed absolutely shouldn't be carrying, or probably even handling a firearm. - OS

Well, seriously, if you say you own for example a Smith and Wesson AR, it only means it is assembled, branded, and warrantied as such. If you knew what manufacturers actually made all the components, the list would be about the same length as one you'd built yourself, shopping around for best deal on the various components. The only slight advantage you may have when buying a name brand complete AR is that the entire rifle is under warranty to you, rather than each component separately. Also, you have a reasonable assurance that the company is using components that meet their own standards, so depending on reputation of the company, you can pick one that is likely to more closely meet your own, without researching the rep and specs of each major component when you assemble one yourself. - OS

I noticed that was a TN zip code too. What's up with that, maybe a typo?

No one manufacturer makes "everything" needed to build an AR. Brand name ARs don't make everything that's in them, actually more generally, nothing that's in them. - OS

Knoxville Gun Control Activists Rally, Ch 10 News Story

Id say worded ambiguously and perhaps with a bit of overstatement, but meant "less than 92%" believe we landed on moon". - OS -

In every state. Federal requirement. Denied 4473s must be kept for 5 years. Also entered into bound book. There is a separate form for purchase of two or more handguns in a 5 day period, in triplicate. One copy is sent or faxed to ATF, one to "state police" (I assume that's TBI here), and one must be kept by FFL for five years. Never found an indication those forms must be destroyed by the feds or the state. There is also the separate form for the the Mexican bordering states now also, for semi-auto weapons (all, more than 1, pistols and rifles? - I forget the details), that is sent to wherever too. - OS

Greg's epic fizzle in last round against Faldo in '96 was last time he really contended there, and that must have really taken the wind out of his sails for Augusta. - OS

Didn't realize, first Aussie ever to win the Masters! And with Tiger's betrayed caddy. Good for Stevie Williams, too! Also has worked with Butch Harmon, who Tiger had fired also. - OS

Any person of a unlawful sale or gift of firearm in tn.?
Oh Shoot replied to ted's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, I didn't think it through my better than bill sponsor did. ;) It's already illegal to sell a firearm to a minor, since the only defense is for loaning or gifting. So have to be proven it was sold and not given/loaned, I suppose. And proving someone was drunk ain't necessarily so easy either, impossible without witnesses I reckon. - OS -
Wow, both Adam Scott and Cabrera birdie the 18 for a playoff. El Pato was 277th in the world ranking, but he's won two majors and going for his third, seems those are the only ones he can play well in here. So maybe an Argentine pope and Master's champ in same year. :) And of course Stevie is on the bag for Scott, take that you know where, Tiger! - OS

You'll have to fill in the color yourself. ;)

Yeah, dunno. Seems TGO might be more like 75-80% turnout, at least on presidential years, but that's just a feeling, no idea really. As far as boosting overall participation, also dunno about just how, if at all, that would really change course of elections. Maybe we conservatives wouldn't really want it it all in this "progressive era". But although participation has declined overall in last 50 years, it hasn't been by a huge amount, and has been pretty consistently crummy for the last 100+. Here's a couple of of charts that show that, and every one I've ever seen are pretty close, so they're likely pretty valid: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_turnout_in_the_United_States_presidential_elections http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0781453.html - OS
