US AG Holder Tells Kansas Feds WILL Enforce Gun Laws
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
"We" have no say as to whether he stays in office, short of pushing legislators for his impeachment. Which also can't happen -- just like BHO, he could murder someone on national TV and the Senate still wouldn't try him, unless Hussein turned against him and told them to. - OS -

Hillary may like him too, dunno. - OS -

Hope nobody on the SCOTUS croaks or quits before 1/20/17, or he might be the gift that keeps on giving. - OS -
Ah, gotcha. Well, companies have been burned in the past by ATF changing its mind, so certainly there's some risk. What was that semi auto import that had the fake suppressor they allowed, then later decided it actually was a suppressor and the company had to send out a free replacement? - OS

Thought it might say on box who actually made it.

Democracy: Majority or Minority?
Oh Shoot replied to ncldwell's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Merriam-Webster arms (noun) Weapons and ammunition; armaments. And by the way, if everything were decided in this country by purely democratic rule, we'd have lost them long ago, along with all the other rights too. - OS -
Bosco got the prototype approved before Sig cranked up. The irony is though that Sig publishes the same letter to him regarding the prototype (removing his name), not a letter to Sig regarding their release version. You would think that Sig would have submitted their version to make real damn sure it's documented, since it's a bit different in form from what Bosco submitted, but I guess not in theory. - OS

Dude! Three pesos are worth .24 USD, don't sell yourself short! I love guns but a $4K 1911 would have to feed me classy dinners for a week and show me a damn good time afterwards. Plus that one is only a 9mm so isn't any good for self defense either, right? (Seriously though, depending on degree of happiness it may impart to ya, it may be a steal). - OS

I shot one good long while ago now, I was impressed with it. FN doesn't make ammo now do they, that just rebranded from other maker to go with new guns? - OS

Yep, that was the original intent, and the inventor is a vet with somewhat of a physical problem himself. Of course, Sig is marketing it as more of a must have in general. - OS

Well, so did Jimmy Carter and he served on one of them thar Nookular subs and later studied Nookular Physics! Apparently, DDE did too. And Bill Clinton, early on its said, though I never noticed it. And Edward Teller! In defense of those pronunciations, though: http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2010/02/18/bush-and-carters-nuclear-pronunciation-might-be-right And found through Wiki regarding pronunciation of "nuclear": American Heritage Dictionary: "The pronunciation (noo'kyə-lər), which is generally considered incorrect, is an example of how a familiar phonological pattern can influence an unfamiliar one … [since] much more common is the similar sequence (-kyə-lər), which occurs in words like particular, circular, spectacular, and in many scientific words like molecular, ocular, and vascular." Merriam-Webster Dictionary: Merriam-Webster receives enough questions about their mention of this mispronunciation in the dictionary that it is one of two mispronunciations which receives particular mention in their FAQ. "Though disapproved of by many, pronunciations ending in \-kyə-lər\ have been found in widespread use among educated speakers, including scientists, lawyers, professors, congressmen, United States cabinet members, and at least two United States presidents and one vice president. While most common in the United States, these pronunciations have also been heard from British and Canadian speakers." - OS

My CDL on front shows: Class: AM Endorsements: T Both class and endorsement letters are explained further on back. It's cool I could tear off down the highway hauling a double or triple trailer, having no training or experience doing so, never even hooked one up! - OS

Don't think I've ever paid over 12 for the basic model (plus tax or shipping) and didn't get first AR until early 2012. Bought my last ones at 10.99 plus shipping a couple days after Sandy Hook, and didn't really "need" those. - OS

Well, it's not really a law that allows it, it's lack of a law that prohibits it. Lots of people want to see a "law" that specifically allows something before they'll believe it. Few if any laws are written to specifically permit a behavior, most are enacted to prohibit one, although it's common to see permitted exceptions to a prohibited act; indeed much of TN weapons law is such, since it basically starts out with the premise that possession of a loaded firearm is illegal and then concedes many exceptions to that. - OS

Alex Bosco, the designer who has arrangement with Sig Alex Bosco who has whatever arrangement with Sig to market it, says on arfcom that the Sig version is also prosthetic rubber type material, too soft to use as a stock. And of course if you modify it to be rigid, well, you've made it into a stock. - OS

Murfreesboro Police gun buyback this Saturday
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'd call mostly BS on that. Glock, Sig, S&W do not want a hodgepodge of used guns. Nor do their distributors. No mechanism exists to turn some Hi-Points, Jennings, Rossis, and sawed off double barrels into Glock 22s, unless the dept. has them sold at auction. Their own service weapons can be "recycled" through the manufacturers' distributors though, that's how you see these Glock police turn in sales by CDNN, GT Distributors, etc. Lots of Mini 14s have gone this route through the years also. - OS -
Except for those who won't fix their TapaTalk! But in general, truer words were never spake. :) :) - O S

Well, since you (actually) "saw a few minutes of it", I guess you're right. :taunt:

Wow, kindred spirits in that regard. There might have been another guy or two in mine, don't remember, but certainly no more than that. We all used manual ones, but there were 3 or four fancy Selectrics or whatever they had in '65 and after a while we who most proved our mettle got them. Though I've made part of my bucks through the years via the ole keyboard, I sure never could have dreamed that the main use would eventually evolve to being among the fastest posters on an internet forum (as if the concept could actually have been adequately explained at the time)! I remember the class was called "Personal Typing", but this mystery remains -- though I was maybe tops in the class, I didn't learn touch on the top row, and indeed never have since. - OS

It only implies to me that there is no movement afoot to dig him up, but only to rename the park. First saw this whole hissy fit reported here a couple of months ago or so, and never seen one thing about any proposals for exhuming anybody? - OS

Sorta. Driver Services (DMV) issues driver's licenses and the Handgun Permit office issues HCPs, and are separate departments within the TN Dept of Safety and Homeland Security. So is the Highway Patrol, but it doesn't issue either one. That's what I meant about wiggle room on interpretation either way. - OS

You didn't read it either? Or not even my quote?

Greg Gutfeld is your champion in this matter. His "Banned Phrases" bit almost daily on The Five has covered just about everything mentioned so far. - OS

Well, one thing's for sure, you get caught shooting one of them thugs there, and you're gonna see a helluva lot more of them on a day to day basis. For years and years. - OS
