Synopsis from wiki, verifiable from other sources: "On May 9, Worcester police announced that Tamerlan's body had been buried in an undisclosed location. It was later revealed that Tsarnaev was buried in a small Muslim cemetery, Al-Barzakh Cemetery, in Doswell, Virginia. The burial was set in motion by a Richmond, Virginia woman, Martha Mullen, with a degree from a Methodist seminary, who said she was appalled by the protests at the funeral home, which she said "portrayed America at its worst" and wanted to find a way to end the impasse. She contacted Islamic Funeral Services of Virginia, which agreed to provide an unmarked plot in their cemetery. The funeral agency released a statement saying "What Tsarnaev did is between him and God. We strongly disagree with his violent actions, but that does not release us from our obligation to return his body to the earth." Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa said the burial was legal. Locals, as well as the imam of the Virginia Islamic Centre condemned the secretive burial." - OS

Benghazi, AP phone, and IRS scandals. Changing minds?
Oh Shoot replied to Randall53's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, she blows the lid of every poll for Dem choice, so the nomination seems a given unless video surfaces of her saying "frick Chris Stevens, let's have a drink" or something. And since she tops out on the "most admired female" ones over and over, seems a shoo-in period. Think of all the women who'll vote for her even if they have to lie to their conservative husbands! I think she'll get a ride on the looks, America will settle for the Golda Meir look of wisdom and experience. Even though she's really just a conniving, cutthroat, duplicitous bitch whose ultimate ambition since she latched onto Slick Willy was to be President. She also has possibly the only ego in national politics to match BHO's. - OS -
Channel 5 report on how Criminals get guns
Oh Shoot replied to billyscott's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That's just one archetypical looking guy. But absurd to argue that prohibited persons don't score all over America where private sales are legal, and gun shows are the logical place for the best selection. It's where I'd go if I couldn't legally buy them and that's no great epiphany on my part or anything. Hell, I may have sold to a felon myself. One with a TN DL, but a felon nonetheless. - OS -

She's probably in the gym now, with face lifts, lipo, botox scheduled. She'll look a healthy 55 by the time she announces. Besides, she'll also assume office 8 months younger than Regan first did, no reason to think she won't be up to it. For two terms even. I'm laying even money that Chris Christie will be her Veep once he's slimmed down and abandoned running as GOP or independent. - OS -
No idea, but the Wolf and Tula are Russian too of course. I think I read the Monarch is from Ulyanovsk, if anyone knows for sure. Wolf changed its factory source about a year ago, now is adamant that it's not Tula or Herter's (which shows Tula head stamp on mine) or Ulyanovsk, so maybe it's Barnaul, who knows. Every time I find a Russian headstamp visual site, seems the news ones have changed. - OS

Could be speed of powder burn is real factor in all this, Lester. But no, I've never really noticed a diff in "feel" between anything I've shot, but could be it's there if I primed myself to really pay close attention ahead of time. The rifle is mid-length gas, so it's quite "gentle" compared to a carbine length gas rifle I also have, and the pistol is carbine length also, so feels snappier just because of that regardless of round compared to the rifle. And of course with the pistol, since the buffer tube is just rested alongside cheek rather than anchored against shoulder, it "recoils" more. I don't reload, but surely there must be combos of powder/bullet that would indeed further that, or at least a separate load to maximize the oomph from short barrel? - OS

Ran a test on some different rounds yesterday through Dolomite's chrono, comparing my 10.5" pistol with 16" rifle. 3 shot average: Monarch 55gr .223: Rifle: 2929 Pistol: 2611 Wolf WPA 55gr 223: Rifle: 2872 Pistol: 2546 Tula 55gr .223: Rifle: 2843 Pistol: 2612 Federal Bulk 55gr .223: Rifle: 2840 Pistol: 2536 Didn't get to some other American .223 and 5.56 I had 'cause the battery died, but anyway, as expected, the short barrel lost a bit more than 300 fps, but all stayed well above speed needed for the round to do its thing on the other end. I was somewhat surprised that the Monarch was the fastest overall (it's the cheap Academy Russian stuff, with lacquered case) and that the Federal brass was the slowest. - OS

Well, it's private, the Loyal Order of Moose, which is a pretty casually run affair all in all. We don't even have a secret handshake and let the Masons actually secretly run the world. :) I doubt there's an official channel for a formal complaint or anything, guess we could find the actual Lodge officers and make a stink. Hell, he might be one for all I know! I admit I've perhaps become a bit complacent there, since it's not a "public" range, and even though it's unsupervised, have tended to give folks a bit more credence for safety since this was the first scary thing I've known anyone to do, whereas we'd see bad stuff almost every trip at the Norris range where we used to hang . Obviously that point of view changed today. - OS -

Yeah, I was mainly just hanging out with the group today, only shot a few rounds through Dolo's chrono to check what my 10.5" AR was getting with various rounds compared to 16" one. I saw the guy start walking all the way down from the end of the line toward us, somewhat older fart than myself, caught my eye 'cause he was holding a cocked hammered pistol straight up in air. But since he was holding it barrel up and not even with firing grip when I first saw him, guess my mind went "well, whatever he's doing I guess he's being safe enough" and then was interacting with LenoirGunner or Garufa by the time he actually got to Dolo, behind my back. By time I turned around, Dolo already had pistol in hand, so I didn't get the adrenaline dump he did but felt pretty queasy once I understood what had gone on. Another lesson learned, always watch anyone double damn close when they leave a firing line with a gun in hand! And a very much beau coup public thanks to Gordon for perhaps saving my frigging life! Doesn't seem like much just looking at the words, but I assure you I'd like to kick around for a while yet! Best I remember, folks were pretty much evenly divided regarding the benign outcome of that. :) http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/27248-ohshoot-got-shot/?hl=%2Bohshoot+%2Bgot+%2Bshot - OS -
The federal definition of switchblades was also amended about a year ago to make clear that assisted openers are okay. Another KnifeRights.org effort, I believe. - OS

Yeah, it wasn't a criticism really. Was in store in 'Nooga recently, didn't even know they were keeping some of the scarce stuff at customer service checkout only till I asked in gun section. Got a box, mom was waiting in car. She offered to trot in there and get another (she's 88), but I let her off the hook. :) - OS

AND, you can buy one whole 20 round box of Monarch .223 when they have it! ;) - OS

A different story? Going by CA database? But if so, then the more serious 1307, and as I understand it can still tack on 1359 if they want to. - OS -

Yeah, assuming he has an HCP, should be a 1359 charge. I'd like to see one of these we could keep up with to see a conviction on it, and more importantly whether permit is also nuked under 1352. - OS -

Eric Holder on IRS Scandal Said "I don't know" 57 Times
Oh Shoot replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just pray there's not a SCOTUS appointment before 1/20/17, BHO will probably stick him right in there. The Senate will likely stay Dem, and I doubt the terrible record would ultimately dissuade them from confirming him. - OS -

Eric Holder on IRS Scandal Said "I don't know" 57 Times
Oh Shoot replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
More than one testimony in both the Benghazi and the IRS probes has basically used as excuse that the various organizations are simply too big and complicated for anyone to know just who and what is responsible when things go south. Which of course is a basic tenet of conservatives regarding Big Government. I love how Obama "fired" the acting head of IRS (who was already leaving in early June before this even surfaced). And promoted the woman (who was in charge of the tax exempt division from whence this whole thing blew up), to head of Obamacare IRS enforcement! Check out all the nifty bonuses she got too. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/05/17/second-irs-official-to-leave-amid-tea-party-scandal/ - OS -
